If you choose the goal, you also have to choose the work that comes with it.
If you want to be great, you don’t get to decide each day whether great effort is necessary.
You already made that decision when you set the goal.
If you commit to the goal, commit to the cost.

Nick Saban says his mother taught him the mindset that eventually shaped Alabama’s dynasty, it’s not about beating the other guy, the competition is always you
“Accountability was really important. If you had a job to do and you didn’t do it exactly right, you were going to do it over again. So you learned how to be accountable. One thing my parents always emphasized was it wasn’t about winning or beating the other guy. It was about, did you do it as well as you were capable of doing it?”
“We won 30 games in a row when I was in high school and won a state championship, and that was never good enough. I asked my mom once, ‘Why is it never good enough?’ She said, ‘It’s not about winning the game. It’s not about beating the other guy. It’s about: did you do it as well as you’re capable of doing it?’”
“So that makes you kind of a perfectionist, because the competition is always you. It’s always you.”
“The other thing that instilled in me was I never had what I call relief syndrome. It’s kind of human nature that if you do something of significance, you think you’re supposed to be able to rest on your laurels.”
“Players would win a big game and say, ‘Can we have Monday off practice? We get rewarded for winning this big game.’ Well, I’m thinking about how we’re going to win the next game. Did we play well enough in that game to win the next game, and what do we need to improve on?”
“You can never be perfect, but you’re always trying to close the gap on perfect. I think great competitors, whether it’s Kobe Bryant, Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan, those guys could always take the next challenge. It didn’t matter how much they won or what they did.” Pasted text

"You don’t get rewarded for doing what is required."@inkyjohnson
Greatness is not given to a chosen few. Greatness is given to the few who choose to do 'more than what's required'.
To be great, you have to give great -great sacrifice, great focus, great discipline, great effort.

Talent doesn’t entitle you to playing time.
Past success doesn’t entitle you to recognition.
Hard work doesn’t entitle you to the result you want.
Nothing is owed.
The opportunity is earned by what you do next.

POWERFUL: Legendary coach Nick Saban with an incredible message about PRAYING TO GOD.
“Do you pray to be blessed, or do you pray to be a blessing?”
“You can be a blessing to everybody that you meet… by the positive energy and attitude that you have”

The 'Man in the Red Bandana' finally honored for his sacrifice.
25 years after Welles Crowther gave his life saving others on 9/11, the 'Man in the Red Bandana' is awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Crowther was just 24 when he repeatedly went back into the South Tower, helping as many as 18 people escape. Survivors remembered one unmistakable detail about the stranger who helped save their lives: the red bandana covering his face.
Crowther never made it out, but the people he helped did.
Now his mother and sister accept the nation’s highest civilian honor on his behalf, cementing a legacy born from the extraordinary choice to keep going back for others.
