Today, I want to hear directly from you.
What are your expectations for the 2027 Budget?
What would you like us to prioritize?
This is your Budget. As your servants, we have a duty to listen and act with the utmost regard for the priorities that matter most to you.
Not too long ago, I told a distinguished gathering of students and faculty at the University of Ghana that the New Economy will turn the sacrifices of recovery into the dignity of decent work, higher incomes and prosperity that reaches every Ghanaian.

I have just concluded a productive meeting with European Investment Bank Vice-President Ambroise Fayolle on the financing package for the Northern Ghana Water and Sanitation Project.
The project will address persistent water shortages in Tamale, Yendi and Damongo and improve sanitation across these communities.
The package comprises:
• a €68 million grant from the European Commission;
• a €30 million grant from Invest International, the Dutch government initiative; and
• a €225 million highly concessional facility from the EIB.

The IMF has upgraded Ghana’s 2026 growth forecast from 4.6% to 5.7%.
We are confident we will exceed that projection.
In Bangkok, I met with the IMF’s African Department Director, Zeine Zeidane, and reaffirmed our commitment to the fiscal credibility, discipline and bold reforms powering Ghana’s economic turnaround.
We are custodians of public money, not its owners.
We shall account for every cedi!
Our goal is to make recovery the exception, not an annual ritual.

Today, we have turned the tide. The foundation is firm, the direction is clear, and Ghana is ready to rise.
The NEW ECONOMY will add value to what we grow and mine, produce more of what we consume and create decent jobs here at home.
Unemployment is personal.
It is hope kept waiting, talent left idle and a family’s sacrifice yet to bear fruit.
The New Economy is Ghana’s refusal to accept wasted potential as normal, and our resolve to turn ability into opportunity and opportunity into the dignity of work!
Ghana cannot afford waste.
Every cedi carries a duty: to build, repair, protect and serve.
We must therefore collect what is due, account for what is spent, recover what is owed, and stop waste before it steals from the people.
Yesterday’s New Economy engagement with distinguished academics, researchers and students of the University for Development Studies, Nyankpala Campus, was deeply successful and inspiring.
The NEW ECONOMY must create jobs at scale: decent, productive jobs that give young people a real stake in Ghana’s future.
Today, we continue the engagements at the University of Ghana.
Tamale, Kawula?
My first stop here was a meeting with Regional Ministers, MMDCEs and Coordinating Directors on strengthening financial accountability across Ghana’s MMDAs.
I was pleased to announce that Government has released the third quarter DACF. This means we are fully up to date, with all three quarters paid.
This is a major shift from the past, and a clear demonstration of our commitment to timely releases and stronger local governance!
At a meeting with our comrades, the leadership and members of the Trades Union Congress (TUC), I made our next step clear: turn economic stability into decent jobs and better livelihoods.
Through the NEW ECONOMY, we will grow businesses, create opportunities and put the Ghanaian worker at the heart of our economic transformation.
For the first time since 2017, the National Lottery Authority has presented a dividend to Government, paying GH¢10 million.
This is a welcome step, but it must not be symbolic. The Ghanaian taxpayer deserves more.
I am working with the Attorney-General to complete, this month, a review of agreements that have unreasonably ceded NLA revenue to others at the expense of the State.
The NLA must focus on its core mandate and deliver full value to the people.
Ghana has lost enough. I will ensure that every pesewa due the State from the NLA is paid.
We are proposing changes to the procurement laws to require those spending public money to buy food from Ghanaian farmers.
Government money must support Ghanaian farmers and create Ghanaian jobs.
