As someone who recently recovered from a blood clot in my jugular last holiday season, seeing how this situation was handled by everyone involved is absolutely despicable and irresponsible. For three months, flying was completely off the table until doctors could confirm that my clot had resolved based on where it was. Even then, you are advised to start blood thinners immediately to stabilize the clot. Once that treatment plan begins, the next 48 hours are critical for the medicine to work in your system. I was fold to take it easy and rest. When dealing with a blood clot, urgency, and the highest level of care are absolutely critical to prevent life-long damage or death. Based on what happened in this case, that level of urgency and care was not provided. Everyone involved failed. Having experienced firsthand how dangerous blood clots can be, I cannot emphasize enough how unacceptable this is. No football game is more important than someone’s life.
