Ukraine’s future is in the West as a free independent sovereign country. We need to hear this loud and clear from Western leaders.
What is the West’s plan?

This is just not true. As soon as I became foreign secretary I asked the security services the same question and they replied that there was no evidence of any successful interference in the 2016 referendum, by Russia or any other power.
Either the security services have changed their view - which would be very odd - or Burnham is lying about what he has been told. After all Starmer was in power for two years and had access to exactly the same information.

It is sickening that the USA is now lifting sanctions on Russian fuel, and transparently ridiculous to blame Ukraine for the spike in prices that obviously began with the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Putin is murdering innocent Ukrainian civilians every day. The Ukrainians are fighting for their lives. And yet the White House is apparently determined to force American drivers to bankroll Putin’s slaughter. It won’t work and I doubt it will make much difference to the price of fuel.
If we want Russian oil and gas back on the world market then let’s end this war - with a free, sovereign and independent Ukraine.

It is vital that the West is clear about Ukraine’s ultimate destiny - they want to be a free sovereign independent country - and part of the West. We should welcome and support that.

Wonderful piece by Fraser. I read Not a Penny More, Not a Penny Less at university. Perfect plot. His critics were just jealous.

It’s a disaster, and it can all be traced to Labour ideology. Burnham has no mandate from the people. He has no real ideas, and no plan.

As Russia continues its terrible attacks on Ukraine and tries to rattle Allies to get them to slow their support, our response is clear.
We’ll keep calm, carry on growing more capable, and continue to support Ukraine

Russia attacking innocent civilians is a function of Putin’s desperation. He wants to increase terror levels and intimidate the Ukrainian people.
The West must renew our commitment to Ukraine. This is not the moment for Ukraine to back down. We must put the pressure on Putin.

The Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026 is now the law of the land. I am grateful to @POTUS for swiftly signing this important legislation. He and his team worked diligently with Congress to get this across the finish line. It will give President Trump additional tools to aid his noble effort to bring the Russia-Ukraine war to a close and allows him to keep up the strong economic pressure on the Iranian regime.
I wish Lindsey were here to celebrate this historic day. I know he would be so proud. Lindsey believed this bill, which he worked on for well over a year, would help end the war through squeezing Putin economically and forcing his customers to reevaluate their relationship with Russia. I am confident that the sanctions and other measures contained in this legislation will do that and further increase the President’s negotiating leverage to secure a lasting peace.

When Lindsey Graham was here in Ukraine, he would always talk about how important it was not to ease pressure on Russia, to strengthen sanctions and seek a path to peace. In particular, in those capitals that choose to buy Russian oil, provide financial services to Russia, and allow Russian companies linked to Putin and the war to engage in normal business relations in other countries.
Senator Graham never doubted for a second that America has enough strength to stand up to dictators and achieve results if it acts THE RIGHT WAY.
I thank President Trump @POTUS for signing this critically important legislation. I thank all the senators and members of the House of Representatives who supported it. The best way to honor Lindsey’s memory will be to implement the provisions of this law fully and swiftly. And the best reward for everyone helping us put pressure on Russia to end its war will be peace. Peace – and an end to all the problems and challenges this war has brought.
Peace comes through strength. Calm comes through security. And the best guarantee of security is resolve.
I thank everyone who resolutely defends life! I thank everyone who stands with Ukraine! America, thank you!

Fire Point enables Ukraine to strike back deep into Russia. This incredible defence-technology company is crucial to Ukraine’s ability to defend its sovereignty and its future.
This war will end much faster if the West does the same; give Ukraine the air defences they need and make it clear their future is as an independent country in the West.
