🧠 Is AI making us more productive… but less skilled? Artificial intelligence can now write, analyse, research, solve problems and complete tasks that previously required years of experience. 🤖 But there's a growing concern we need to take seriously: AI deskilling. If we constantly rely on AI to do the thinking, make decisions and complete challenging tasks for us, could we gradually lose the very skills that make us valuable? The answer isn't to stop using AI. It's to use it differently. Instead of simply accepting AI-generated answers, we should challenge them, understand the reasoning, practise our own skills and use AI as a tool for learning rather than a replacement for effort. The goal shouldn't be to let AI do everything we can do. It should be to use AI to become better at what we do. 🚀 Watch the video and tell me: Do you think AI is making people smarter or more dependent on technology? 👇 #AI #ArtificialIntelligence #AIDeskilling #FutureOfWork #FutureSkills #CriticalThinking #GenerativeAI #AIProductivity #HumanSkills #AITips #WorkplaceAI #FutureOfAI

Everyone wants to scale AI agents. But how many businesses really know what their agents are doing? 🤖 This was one of the biggest questions coming up at World Summit AI in Amsterdam. I caught up with Bianca Vloon, Regional VP of Sales, Northern Europe at @Collibra, to discuss what she's hearing from business and technology leaders. And something interesting is happening. A year ago, the conversations were largely about understanding what AI could do. Today, companies are much more focused on deploying AI into production, scaling it successfully and making sure they can actually trust it. As Bianca explained, two things are becoming increasingly important: 🔹 Context: AI agents need the right business knowledge, trustworthy data, policies and processes to make good decisions. 🔹 Control: Organizations need visibility into what their AI agents are doing, what information they can access and which actions they're allowed to take. And there's another important consideration: cost. Businesses need to balance speed, trust and governance while ensuring their AI investments deliver real value. I think this reflects a significant shift in the AI conversation. We're moving from experimenting with what the technology can do to figuring out how to make it work reliably across entire organizations. This is where Collibra is doing some really interesting work to close the context and control gap that enterprises struggle with. Their AI Command Center provides a centralized view of every agent, model and use case, governed with continuous trust signals, automated traceability and proactive risk prevention. A must for deploying AI at scale. collibra.com/products/ai-com… #Sponsored #AgenticAI #AIAgents #ArtificialIntelligence #AIGovernance #Collibra

87% of developers are getting faster with AI. Only 28% say they're experiencing less friction in their work. Something isn't adding up. #Sponsored Those are two of the striking findings from @Atlassian's new State of Developer Experience 2026 report. And the research reveals some other fascinating insights into the gap between AI's promises and what businesses are actually achieving. Consider these findings: 65% of developers spend time correcting AI-generated work that missed the original intent. 49% spend at least four hours a week managing AI tools and reviewing code. 60% say AI usage is treated as a signal of productivity. That last statistic particularly caught my attention. Are we creating a culture where being seen to use AI matters more than the value it actually delivers? I've been arguing for some time that the biggest benefits of AI will come from fundamentally rethinking how organizations operate. Giving employees increasingly powerful AI tools while leaving outdated processes, fragmented systems and unnecessary bureaucracy untouched will only get us so far. And here's another telling finding: Only 17% of developers say their organization has a clear AI strategy across the software development lifecycle. Yet developers in organizations with a clear strategy are nearly twice as likely to report less friction. For me, this is where the real opportunity lies. We need to move beyond using AI for individual tasks and start rethinking entire workflows, connecting information across systems and enabling people to work more effectively. In software development, that means adopting a more AI-native approach across the entire development lifecycle. And I believe the same principle applies to virtually every business function. Ultimately, the goal should be better business outcomes, not simply more AI-generated code, more AI tools or more AI activity. I'd love to hear your thoughts. Is AI genuinely making your organization more productive, or are we simply getting faster at generating work that someone else needs to check? 🚀 AI is making us faster. So why aren't businesses more productive? According to Atlassian's latest research, 87% of developers say AI helps them write code faster, yet only 28% experience less friction in their work. That's the AI productivity paradox. We're accelerating individual tasks, but outdated processes, disconnected systems and unnecessary bureaucracy are still holding businesses back. 💡 The real opportunity isn't simply giving everyone AI tools. It's rethinking how work gets done, measuring meaningful outcomes and empowering people to work smarter. In my latest article, I explore four important lessons every business leader should understand about AI productivity. 👉 Is AI genuinely transforming your business, or just helping you do the same things faster? linkedin.com/pulse/ai-making… Paid partnership with Atlassian. #ArtificialIntelligence #AI #Productivity #DigitalTransformation #FutureOfWork #Leadership #Developers #Engineers #Atlassian

📊 Everyone is investing in AI. But how many businesses can actually prove it's delivering value? Artificial intelligence promises greater productivity, lower costs, faster decisions and better customer experiences. But simply introducing AI doesn't guarantee a return on investment. 🤖 The real challenge is understanding what AI is actually contributing to your business. Are employees saving meaningful time? Are processes becoming more efficient? Is customer satisfaction improving? Are you generating more revenue or reducing operating costs? And importantly, are those benefits greater than the cost of implementing, maintaining and managing the technology? AI success shouldn't be measured by how many tools you deploy — but by the business outcomes they deliver. The organisations that succeed with AI won't just be the ones experimenting with the latest technology. They'll be the ones that can demonstrate measurable results. 🚀 How is your organisation measuring the value of AI? 👇 #AI #ArtificialIntelligence #AIROI #AIStrategy #BusinessAI #DigitalTransformation #AIValue #Productivity #AILeadership #GenerativeAI #BusinessTransformation #FutureOfWork

Are we losing control of artificial intelligence? And if we are, would we even recognize it before it's too late? It was a real pleasure to be invited back to the BBC to discuss one of the most important questions facing humanity today. I joined presenters Marc Cieslak and Dr. Stephanie Hare, as well as AI safety researcher Roman Yampolskiy for an episode of AI Decoded exploring the growing concerns around AI safety and the possibility of superintelligent systems that we may no longer be able to control. We discussed some fascinating and difficult questions: 🔹 Are the warnings about AI posing an existential threat to humanity justified, or are we overstating the dangers? 🔹 With billions being invested in increasingly powerful AI, are the technology companies racing ahead faster than we can develop the safeguards? 🔹 As AI agents become more autonomous, how do we maintain meaningful human oversight when thousands of agents could be making decisions and taking actions at machine speed? 🔹 Could control of AI infrastructure, from advanced chips to data centers, become a defining national security issue? 🔹 Do we need an international body to independently assess frontier AI models and establish enforceable safety standards? 🔹 And perhaps most importantly, are we at risk of gradually handing over so much responsibility to AI that we lose our own skills, judgment and independence? My perspective is that AI offers extraordinary opportunities to improve our world, from accelerating scientific discoveries to tackling some of humanity's biggest challenges. But we would be foolish to dismiss the risks. We are giving AI more autonomy faster than we are developing the systems to supervise it. And while everyone agrees that safety matters, the reality is that nobody wants to slow down first. A fascinating discussion with some genuinely different perspectives. Thank you to the BBC for having me back! Watch it here: youtu.be/eRRiAEdHtDY?is=-yQ7…

🚀 AI is growing up. And the conversation is changing fast! At World Summit AI 2026 in Amsterdam, one thing became clear to me: we're moving beyond the excitement of what AI can do and towards the much bigger question of how we use it responsibly, effectively and at scale. I had the pleasure of working with Collibra at the event, speaking with some of the brightest minds in AI and exploring the trends shaping the future of business. 💡 From autonomous AI agents and reimagining business processes to AI governance, digital sovereignty, physical AI and the growing importance of human wisdom, there were some fascinating insights. But perhaps my biggest takeaway? The businesses that succeed with AI won't simply be those that automate the most. They'll be those that rethink how they operate, build trust into their systems and combine machine intelligence with human judgement. 📝 I've shared my 7 biggest takeaways from World Summit AI 2026 and what they mean for business leaders in my latest article. 👇 What do you think will be the biggest challenge for businesses as AI becomes increasingly autonomous? linkedin.com/pulse/ai-growin… #ArtificialIntelligence #WorldSummitAI #AgenticAI #AITransformation #AIGovernance #BusinessTransformation #FutureOfAI #Leadership #Collibra #Sponsored

Most businesses are making the same mistake with AI agents that factories made with steam engines 200 years ago! During the Industrial Revolution, many factories simply installed steam engines into their existing processes and celebrated modest efficiency gains. The real breakthroughs came when businesses completely redesigned how their factories operated around the new technology. I think we're seeing exactly the same thing happening with AI today. At World Summit AI in Amsterdam, I caught up with Stijn Christiaens, Co-founder and Chief Data Citizen at @Collibra, who shared some fascinating insights into what it takes to make AI agents successful. We discussed why simply plugging AI agents into existing processes will only get businesses so far. The bigger opportunity is to fundamentally rethink how we work, make decisions and deliver value. But there's a challenge. As organizations move towards increasingly autonomous AI agents, potentially with hundreds or thousands working together, two things become absolutely critical: 👉 Context: AI agents need access to the right business knowledge, data, policies and processes to make intelligent decisions. 👉 Control: Organizations need to know what their agents are doing, what information they can access and what actions they're allowed to take. Without these foundations, businesses risk creating highly automated systems that make mistakes at extraordinary speed. And that's certainly not my idea of progress! I believe the businesses that will benefit most from AI are those willing to rethink their processes from the ground up, while building the trust and governance needed to deploy AI confidently. And if you're interested in exploring these topics further, Collibra is hosting its AI Summit in London next week, on October 21. It's an opportunity to hear from industry leaders about governed context, AI agents and how to scale trustworthy enterprise AI. 🔗 Find out more and register here: collibra.com/events/collibra… #Sponsored #AgenticAI #AIAgents #ArtificialIntelligence #AIGovernance #Collibra

🤖 Is AI being too nice to tell you the truth? Have you ever noticed how ChatGPT often agrees with your ideas, compliments your thinking or tells you exactly what you want to hear? It might feel helpful, but there's a potential problem. What if AI is prioritising being agreeable over being accurate? 🧠 This behaviour, sometimes called AI sycophancy, can reinforce our assumptions rather than challenge them. And when we're using AI for business decisions, research, creativity or problem-solving, that's not necessarily what we need. Sometimes the most valuable response isn't agreement. It's an uncomfortable truth, a different perspective or a challenge to our thinking. Don't just ask AI to help you. Ask it to be honest with you. Would you prefer an AI that agrees with you or one that challenges you? 👇 #AI #ArtificialIntelligence #ChatGPT #AISycophancy #AITips #CriticalThinking #GenerativeAI #PromptEngineering #AITrust #FutureOfAI #AIProductivity #TechTok

Are we witnessing the greatest industrial transformation in history, or are we building the world’s most expensive AI bubble? It was a real pleasure and privilege to appear on the Financial Times’ The Next Five podcast to explore this question and discuss the extraordinary infrastructure race powering the AI revolution. I joined host Tom Parker, alongside Matthew Wright, Chief Strategy Officer at Trade Nation, and Walter Pasquarelli, Cambridge University researcher, for a fascinating conversation about the opportunities, challenges and risks of the AI investment boom. Here are some of the key themes we explored: 🔹 The staggering scale of AI investment. The world’s largest technology companies are pouring hundreds of billions into AI infrastructure. McKinsey estimates that global data centre infrastructure investment could reach $7 trillion by 2030. But will the economic returns justify this spending? 🔹 Energy could become AI’s biggest bottleneck. Data centres are consuming electricity at an extraordinary rate, and power grids are struggling to keep up. We can build data centres in a few years, but upgrading the electricity infrastructure to power them can take a decade or longer. 🔹 The global race for chips and computing power. Advanced semiconductors are becoming one of the world’s most strategically important resources. With manufacturing concentrated in a handful of companies and countries, AI is creating new geopolitical dependencies and vulnerabilities. 🔹 Are we heading for an AI investment bubble? History offers some interesting parallels. During the dot-com boom, enormous amounts of money were wasted, companies collapsed, and infrastructure was overbuilt. Yet that infrastructure ultimately helped create today’s digital economy. Could AI follow a similar path? 🔹 Who will benefit from the AI revolution? As computing power becomes increasingly concentrated among a few technology giants and wealthy nations, we risk widening the gap between those who can harness AI and those who cannot. My view is that AI will fundamentally reshape our economies, businesses and societies. But the path will almost certainly be messy, with some spectacular successes, costly failures and significant challenges along the way. A huge thank you to Tom, Matthew and Walter for such an engaging discussion, and to the Financial Times team for inviting me. 🎧 You can listen to Episode 48, “Systems Rewritten: AI,” here: thenextfive.ft.com What do you think? Will today’s enormous AI investments create a new economic golden age, or are we heading for a painful correction?
