Wish @Delta auto upgrade had a feature that let me request no middle seats or first row in comfort, would rather just stay further back and keep my aisle

Brave new world
We're heading toward a monetary world where the gap between universal banks and the new generation of banks is going to become enormous. The bundle that makes up the deposit franchise (whether because of ignorance about how credit expansion works, or because of shifts in consumer habits) no longer justifies how slow and poorly remunerated money is inside the banking system. As a result, the generation of comfortable, sticky bank deposits is giving way to a more versatile, faster, more mercenary generation (in the good sense of the word), with greater access to different financial instruments. The world is going to have to face a question that we're not really asking right now, and which is basically a bet on the future: who is going to hold all the duration in the credit system. Whether because of business incentives or simply because of their position of power, banks have stretched the gum too far when capturing NIM by relying on the idea that "the customer isn’t incentivized to move money out of the bank". With an unstoppable rise in deposit beta, this leaves us with three main consequences: - A boom in narrow banks that flip the business model and, instead of living off NIM, live off subscriptions and other services. A clear example is Revolut, with a 448% LCR and a loan-to-deposit ratio of roughly 6.2%, living mainly off cash equivalents, not that different from a stablecoin issuer. - Concentration among universal correspondent banks that will be the only ones still capable of holding duration to maturity on their balance sheet thanks to their own resources, but which will be increasingly incentivized to simply originate and securitize, because covering that duration is going to become much harder and riskier. - Growth of the shadow banking system, which will be the main client for these loans and the main recycler of that duration. The two extreme risk tails that come out of this are greater concentration among the so-called too-big-to-fail banks (and the difficulty of new members joining that select club because of how hard it is to scale a bank to that point), and the growth of unregulated shadow banking, which opens the door to greater fragility in runs and more opacity. It’s honestly a beautiful time to be alive.

A man got fired from his job, was unemployed for 10 months, watched his savings crash 75%, and somehow built one of crypto's biggest exchanges. > In July 2017, Siemens laid off Hayden Adams, a 24-year-old mechanical engineer. > He had no software engineering career to fall back on. > His friend Karl Floersch told him Ethereum was the future and convinced him to learn smart contract development. > Hayden spent two months learning to code. > Then Karl showed him an idea from Vitalik Buterin about how people could trade tokens without a traditional exchange matching buyers and sellers. > Hayden started building a prototype. Called it Uniswap. > By April 2018, he'd been unemployed for 10 months and the crypto he was living on had lost over 75% of its value. > Most people would've started looking for another job. > Hayden booked a flight to South Korea to attend a crypto conference. > He didn't even have a ticket to the event and was turned away at the entrance. > Then he ran into Karl, who introduced him to Vitalik Buterin. > Vitalik pulled out his phone and read Hayden's smart contract right there. > He adviced him to apply for an Ethereum Foundation grant. > Hayden applied and got the grant which was valued at around $100,000 on paper. > After $ETH's price dropped, its actual value was closer to $55,000–$60,000. > He kept building. > On November 2, 2018, Uniswap launched on Ethereum. > Today, it's one of the most important decentralized exchanges in crypto, allowing people to trade tokens without relying on a traditional centralized exchange. A man lost his job, watched his savings collapse, and built one of crypto's biggest financial platforms. Imagine if he'd just updated his CV and moved on.

Hey @0xfoobar some feedback for @CircuitAI, interpretation of loss limit for delta neutral strategies is tough to manage, I already have it at 50% guess I gotta up it but the losses will just keep accruing, am I doing something wrong?

I’ll be at #Money2020 with Tempo! Looking forward to connecting with fintech and crypto infrastructure teams about how we can build together, better serve shared customers, and make it easier to bring stablecoin products to market. If you’ll be there, I’d love to find time to meet.

On most blockchains, balances and payment activity are public by default. Businesses and their customers shouldn’t need to give up privacy to use stablecoins. Tempo Zones keep balances and payments private, with compliance controls and access to global liquidity across Tempo.
