Since the passage of AB 1078, I have made it a priority to honor the humanity & culture that make California so diverse. Last year, we centered Black consciousness. This year, we are honoring Latino heritage, identity, and lived experiences. Next year, we will uplift API stories!

I uplift Banned Books Week because every student deserves the freedom to read, learn, and see themselves reflected in the stories around them. That belief is why I authored AB 1078, protecting access to diverse voices, histories, and perspectives!

Seven bills signed into law. Seven steps toward a California that works better for our communities. I’m proud of this year’s work, but I know our job doesn’t end with a signature. It begins with turning policy into real change for the people we serve.

Today, we recognize International Day of Peace. Peace is a choice. It begins with us, in our homes, our neighborhoods, and in how we treat one another. Let’s invest in peace, not just today, but every day!

What happened to Sen. @Scott_Wiener at the San Francisco Trans March was reprehensible. When ideological purity tests replace dialogue and disagreement becomes exclusion, movements risk abandoning the very values of inclusion and tolerance they claim to defend.

We have the receipts. The Federal Government has been threatening budget cuts that will hit our most vulnerable—our seniors, our children, and those already struggling. We won’t stay silent while our communities suffer.

As the author of AB 90, I’m fighting to ensure California’s community college and CSU students facing housing insecurity have a safe place to stay. This bill establishes overnight parking programs to provide stability until permanent solutions are available. #HousingForAll

AB 90 addresses the growing issue of student housing insecurity by ensuring that no student enrolled in California’s public colleges has to worry about where they will sleep at night.

California should be ashamed of how we treat our foster youth. It’s time for a real solution—a multiagency approach that ensures they get the care, stability, and opportunities they deserve. No more neglect. No more excuses. #fostercarereform

Had the opportunity to visit Jewish Family Services, an incredible organization in our district dedicated to housing stability and advocating for those who need it most. Their work ensures that families and individuals have the support they need to thrive.
