Last quarter we shipped the first transparent, size-based rate table in crypto lending. Today we go further. Arch is dropping rates platform-wide and simplifying the size-tier structure for our clients. We now have the lowest qualified custodian rates in our industry!

We took $100K a year out of 10 BTC in three different ways and followed each plan for 30 years. The starting price is $83,500, and BTC grows 15% a year. Here is the breakdown 馃У

7/ The number to watch is LTV. It starts near 12%, peaks at about 54% in year 11, and then falls every year as the price growth outruns the interest. It is 44% at year 20 and 30% at year 30.

8/ Same $100K a year, three endings: - Out of money in year 8, - Last sat gone in year 20, or - $38.8M at year 30 with a loan to manage. The borrow plan depends on the stack outrunning the cost of the debt. Illustrative only. None of this is financial advice, seriously.

In The Bitcoin Standard, @saifedean gives one test for what can hold value and work as money: salability. Here's what it means and why only one asset alive today passes all of it. 馃У

Salable across scale: the asset divides and combines to fit any trade, big or small. If you can't sell a piece of it without destroying its value, you're stuck selling the whole thing or nothing. Gold = small bars trade at a worse price. Land = you can't sell the doorway of your house. Stocks = splits are corporate decisions. Bitcoin = every coin divides into 100M sats.

Every monetary asset before Bitcoin traded one dimension off against the others. Gold chose time and gave up space. Fiat chose space and gave up time. Bitcoin is the first one that didn't have to choose. (Chart attached. Not financial advice.)

We鈥檝e seen some of our borrowers borrow to buy more crypto, but that鈥檚 not the main reason they borrow from us. 馃憞
Over 80% of our clients take dollars. On average, our clients borrow for two years or more and roll over every year.

Took a tour of the massive Aman buildout in Beverly Hills yesterday - got an invite from @ArchLending Very impressive property - it is adjacent to the hilton. Building two 28 story towers + one 11 story tower - it is going to have a ton of gardens and public space as well as a private club, residences, and a hotel. They are also tapping into geothermal energy. Company doing the buildout is Cain - who also did the Century City mall renovation.

After what happened in 2022, most of them said that crypto-backed lending is dead. Four years later, we鈥檙e still here.
We started Arch in February 2022, and in about six months in 2022, the biggest crypto lenders failed. Many people concluded that crypto-backed lending could not be sustainable. What 2022 showed was what happens when a book is not managed properly. If you are borrowing today, ask any lender how it manages its book.
