Aug 4, 2008 I admitted publicly that I failed.
I thought I'd feel ashamed after posting my video about it.
Instead I felt relieved.
Before that post, Mixergy was supposed to be an invitation site. Replace evite.
As I built it, my heart wasn't into it. But I kept going because I'm a "never give up" kind of guy.
But I couldn't keep pouring money into something that didn't work. I couldn't keep doing something that I didn't love.
Meanwhile, the "blog" that went along with this invitation site felt more exciting. I was interviewing founders who came to my events.
It was so fun to hear how someone turned an idea into a business.
Still. My friends were all in software. They kept asking, "when are you going to start a real business?"
Interviewing felt...less significant.
I did it anyway. I fell in love with hearing founders' stories.
I fell in love with the mission of encouraging listeners to start companies.
I was wrong to think of it as less significant.
@wadefoster, @cathrynlavery, @brian_armstrong, @bchesky and so many others heard and were inspired by those interviews.
If you're deploying on Railway, someone could be stealing from you right now.
Here's what happened a prompt that could help you.
• Yesterday, Railway said a hacker got its customers' API keys.
• Jeremy Tocy, a founder, had his AI accounts drained.
• @wickedguro, another founder, had to shut down his SaaS for hours.
• @ABrakhane, CTO of Gateway X, spent 6 hours rotating 106 API keys he had with Railway.
Railway either doesn't know the full extent of what happened or won't tell us.
Adam used this prompt to get a tool that made changing his API keys easier:
"Railway had a security incident. Research it for me. Look at my Railway environment and list every API key. Make me a tool that tells me which keys I need to reset, gives me a link to reset each one, and gives me a copy button for the command that updates Railway with the new keys."
At the start of the year, this channel was a zero.
We're up to:
1.4 million views per month
67,000 subscribers
Some videos get over 200k views
How we got here:
* focusing on the growing group of people who use AI to ship software and build companies.
Next: turning it into a huge company.
We already have the momentum.
If you want to sponsor or partner with us, hit me up by DM.
My worst-performing video this week is the one I'm proudest of.
GitHub show: 71,800 views
Agent rights video: 7,600 views
But the agent rights video shows you how to get past those annoying "are you a human" blocks.
Agents are how humans get things done now.
Sites that discriminate against them are discriminating against us.
I'll keep finding ways around their blocks.
👊 Fight on!

@Shpigford's playbook for building FirstIndex.com
1. He realized he was good at SEO
2. He turned what he learned into Claude Skills to manage his sites' seo
3. On Sept 25, before wrapping up for the day, he threw out an offer on X: SEO for $1,000
4. He got customers!
5. he used his skill on clients' sites
6. He wrote code for stuff AI isn't reliable at (ex: checking facts against a truth doc and counting links.)
7. He tweets about what he's doing for clients' sites and his sites, which gets him more clients
8. The company is just him + the set of tools below.
His tools:
@github: a walled-off repo for every client that stores the work log, all the research (up to about 100 reference sources per article), Search Console numbers, and whether ChatGPT mentions the client
Claude Opus: does nearly every step, with a separate session for each task so no context carries between clients
Claude Code: runs it all from the terminal
@NotionHQ: holds each client's research docs with some cool automations
@SlackHQ: talking with clients and delivering work
Google Search Console: shows which pages need work
Python: keeps the work reliable and repeatable, like keeping facts straight across a thousand articles and counting links, plus a script that kicks off each client's daily tasks
@dataforseo: SEO data, about $100 a week for 30 clients
@Cloudflare: hosts tiny apps that use "APIs to make Slack and Notion talk to each other"
Mac mini: the machine in his office that runs it all He's bootstrapping a 1-person company.

This is what's possible for a solo bootstrapper today. Spread the word.

If Amazon can use their agents to customer support with us, we should be allowed to use our agents to buy from them!
WordPress is completely missing the AI moment.
• It's open source, so coding tools can build on it. Perfect for aI.
• It's got 61,000+ plugins, so most use cases don't have to be reinvented.
• It can thrive because of tools like Cluade -- just like @omarchy is.
Since WP hasn't been AI-pilled, @johnturner and @syedbalkhi created WPVibe.
WPVibe lets you build and run WordPress sites using agents.
John showed me how it works in this video.
Had a great time chatting with @AndrewWarner about WPVibe and how we are revolutionizing the way people interact with their WordPress site through AI. See below 👇

Did this save WordPress by bringing it into the air era?!

My wife asked me why I name my agents.
I feel silly doing it, but it makes too much sense not to.
When a slack or email comes from an unnamed AI agent, people ignore it. Adding a name makes it feel less weird and creepy.
Names also make agents easier to talk about. "Ask the YouTube AI agent" is clunky. "Ask Jimmy" just works.
Humans respond better to things that feel human.

Elon wanted X to be the everything app.
In reality, Grok Bot will be the everything app
The official Grok @bot connector for Basecamp has launched! Thanks to the @bot team for getting this approved quickly so our drooling customers can get in there!
Just jump into Grok Bot, click the Connect Apps button (or find it wherever it might be in your version), and search for Basecamp. Bam!
(we've asked them to update the logo so it's the Basecamp logo not the 37signals logo, so your version may vary depending on when you see this)
🤯 Grok Bot built me a lead capture form that works on X!
