We discussed the 1994 NCAA tourney game against Georgetown in this episode & I wanted to put some stats to it:
Georgetown was a team of bigs (Othella The Big Fella & Don Ried). Their starting guards both shot under 30% from three. And then they hit 6 of 8 threes and won 84-77.
You kids won't understand this but teams shooting lights out from three used to be our thing in the NCAA Tournament. Georgetown in 1994, some guy named Sarunas Jasikevicius for Maryland in 1998, Notre Dame shooting 55% from three in 2003. So many "how is this happening?" games.
Just in time for basketball season.

A D1 vs. D1 SCORIGAMI 😲📈
Illinois takes down FDU by a score of 120-45, the first such final in the 64-team era.
We've had lots of freshmen play lots of openers against lots of terrible teams. But..
Coleman: 13 pts, 10 rbs, 6 ast
Brown: 12 pts, 9 rbs, 7 ast
Zens: 12 pts, 3 rbs
Morillo: 9 pts, 8 rebs
L. Davis: 6 pts, 4 rbs
52 pts & 34 rbs, even against this competition, is outlandish.

Illinois' single-game points record is 127, scored at LSU in 1988. They have 104 with 7:27 left.
The Illini also have netted 18 3-pointers, tying the team record.
This is the X-X thread. Put your predictions here. 8x-2x with 15:40 on the clock.
Dream the largest dreams. Anything is possible.
Listen. Listen. Quentin Coleman has 12-7-6 and Ethan Brown has 10-9-6 with 16 minutes left. Are we... are we about to see two true freshmen get matching triple-doubles in their first college games?
Good sir, I am a man who watched my team lose 93-81 to North Florida in the opener only 11 years ago. I am going to enjoy 75-20 with 18 minutes left for as long as I can stay awake.
1.763 Points Per Possession in the first half. Keep that up and we might move to KenPom #1 by the end of the night.
ETHAN BROWN has 8 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists in his first 11 minutes of college basketball. I closed fan club applications at the start of the game so unfortunately, you're too late to get on the bandwagon.
You could see Jake Davis mouth "it's out" when the trainer approached him so I'm afraid that might be a separated shoulder. 😒
