Ladies and gentlemen, in June 2021, General Katumba Wamala narrowly escaped an assassination attempt in Bukoto, Kampala. Gunmen riding motorcycles opened fire on his vehicle, killing his daughter and driver.
The government quickly pointed fingers at the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), presenting the attack as another act of terrorism by the rebel group. But could there be another side to this story?
In an exclusive one-on-one phone interview with Lt. Herbert Matanda Mabonga, he made a startling allegation: the ADF narrative was a lie. According to Mabonga, the assassination attempt was an inside job involving members of the Special Forces Command (SFC).
Why would anyone want Katumba dead? Mabonga claims it had everything to do with Katumba's growing popularity and his opposition to Muhoozi Kainerugaba's presidential ambitions.
But there is another disturbing twist.
Following the attack, then Inspector General of Police, Paul Lokech, oversaw investigations that led to the public identification of several suspects. However, the investigation and the circumstances surrounding the subsequent death of Deputy IGP Paul Lokech on August 21, 2021, have continued to raise questions.
Lokech's death was officially attributed to a blood clot. But Mabonga makes an even more explosive allegation: he claims Lokech was killed because he had dug too deeply into the assassination plot and was getting close to exposing the network behind it.
These are grave allegations, and they demand evidence and independent investigation. If Mabonga's account is true, the implications would be enormous.
Who was really behind the attack on General Katumba Wamala? What did the investigators uncover? And what did Paul Lokech know before his death?
Let's listen to my conversation with Lt. Herbert Matanda Mabonga.

Our brother Mugerwa Huzaifa, popularly known as Helper TV, was dumped around Mulago this morning in severe pain. He was heavily beaten at the High Court premises by individuals who demanded to know why he and other journalists published videos of Minsa Kabanda being cross-examined in court. Huzaifa reveals that his attackers tortured him while demanding the login details for his accounts. He has been held in a dark room at an unknown location since Thursday, where he was denied food until he was finally dumped today. We're glad that he's alive and now getting treatment. We must all condemn this barbaric impunity in the strongest terms.

Tanzania High Court's ruling acquitting comrade Tundu Lissu of the politically motivated treason charges is a victory against the ultimate weapon of state intimidation. The Tanzanian regime tried to threaten him with the death penalty simply for demanding free, fair, and transparent electoral reforms but failed to prove its malicious claims because truth cannot be hidden by judicial overreach.
However, the decision to convict him on the engineered, lesser charge of "incitement" and to sentence him to four years in prison is a glaring reminder of how autocrats weaponize the judiciary to silence legitimate opposition. Convicting him for his rightful defense of democracy - his call for "No Reforms, No Election" - proves that the state manufactured an offense purely to keep a powerful voice of the people locked away.
From Kampala to Dar es Salaam, our struggle against generational dictatorships and electoral autocracy remains unified. A cage can restrain bodies, but it can never imprison the spirit of freedom ignited across the region.
We stand with you, Chadema, and with you the great people of Tanzania, in rejecting the ongoing persecution. Aluta Continua!

Last week, NUP/People Power leader Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert, popularly known as Bobi Wine, appeared at the Atlantic Council headquarters in Washington, DC, for the inaugural Global Leadership Forum—a gathering of leaders from around the world to discuss the challenges confronting their work.
What stood out was how composed and unapologetic Bobi Wine was. He spoke candidly about the movement he leads, the brutality of the Museveni regime, and the lawlessness of Museveni's son Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
In fact, he laid bare Muhoozi’s record of abductions, torture and killings of innocent Ugandans. If Muhoozi ever wanted the world to understand the kind of reputation his conduct is creating, Bobi Wine made that case rather effectively.
Bobi Wine also explained how he has personally been targeted for daring to challenge Museveni’s grip on power. But here is the point: despite the intimidation, the threats and the persecution he describes, he is not giving up.
And he explained exactly why.
The audience listened, understood the weight of his message and responded with a standing ovation.
This was more than a political speech. It was another opportunity to take Uganda’s struggle beyond its borders and put the country's political reality before an international audience.
Here is the full session, followed by my commentary.

A man claims he wants to govern as a president but he is not ready to listen to dissenting voices.
@JudiciaryUG has clearly failed to protect Ugandans from the illegality that is the cabbage and pilau (PLU).
His lawlessness has gone unchecked by those who are institutional supposed to check him.
@KagutaMuseveni endorses the abductions, the tortures and impunity.
Its our duty as Ugandans to end this madness and finish the cabbages.

A short while ago, I spoke with our comrade Olivia Lutaaya and welcomed her back from the long period of unjustified detention. I am glad that her conviction has not been diminished by the criminal regime's persistent persecution. I assured her that the immense sacrifice she, together with other comrades, have made for a better country will never be in vain.

Uganda's justice system hits a new low with the head of the Judicial Service Commission Singiza Douglas openly endorsing Museveni's brutal, criminal son!
The JSC is legally mandated to enforce the Judicial Code of Conduct , which strictly forbids judicial officers from engaging in partisan politics - both in and out of the courtroom. How is that body expected to discipline judicial officers who violate the Code when its very head is breaching the code with impunity? How are the citizens, who are opposed to the criminal regime expected to get justice under such a system? Those who fail to get justice after being abducted and violated by the criminal he is endorsing?!
No wonder, Singiza, when he was still a magistrate he was famed for covering up the worst crimes against humanity, and reminding victims of torture.
Our nation has hit rock bottom! We have a lot of work to resuscitate it!
