I have conducted an audit of Anthropic's finances. What I have found is so shocking that I am calling for a Congressional investigation. Anthropic is not just seeking regulatory capture. It has built a regulatory capture machine that cannot be turned off. Structural financial incentives make it impossible for Anthropic -- I call it the Anthropic Network -- to turn off its own AI doom cycle. It starts with METR. Dario Amodei proposes "third-party evaluators" to assess the risk of Anthropic's models. He proposes METR for this purpose. But METR is financially dependent on the Anthropic's success -- specifically, on the explosive growth of more than $7 billion dollars in Anthropic stock. Dustin Moskovitz invested this stock into Good Ventures Foundation, where it represents the majority of that organization's portfolio. And GVF is the overwhelming funder of the entire Anthropic Network ecosystem. This stock was worth $500 million early last year. It is worth more than $7.7 billion just ~16 months later. METR -- and all of those building a career its parent organizations -- cannot afford to disrupt that growth. Because if Anthropic goes under, many of the organizations that fund METR go under as well. But if Anthropic succeeds, METR and its parent organizations become more richly financed to regulate AI -- something those at METR want very much. The "third-party evaluator" is not "third-party" at all. The evaluator is on Anthropic's payroll. If this were the end of it, that's bad. But that isn't all. The same organizations that fund METR also fund the many organizations, such as the Tarbell Center, that promote AI Doom. The Tarbell Center publishes AI Doom articles in The Verge, Science, LA Times, The Dispatch, TIME, and others. They are selling the problem, and then selling the solution to the problem -- from the same money pile: Anthropic's. All of these organizations are financially dependent on the same exploding $7 billion money pile. As Anthropic grows more and more powerful, its AI Doom Machine grows better and better financed -- louder and louder. Meanwhile, the regulatory regime seeded in METR grows larger to solve the increasingly loud -- now hysterical -- problem of AI Doom that the Anthropic Network itself created. From this standpoint, as Anthropic becomes more powerful, AI might be getting scarier, sure -- but the positive feedback loop also becomes more deafening -- independent of objective facts. This itself is an objective fact. The deafening AI Doom is part of an business model, that, as it expands, so too does the AI Doom messaging -- there is simply more money to do it. But the problem also goes in the other direction: If Anthropic dies, the Regulatory Regime and the AI Doom Machine are crippled or die. Neither METR nor Tarbell nor the other organizations in the Anthropic Network can allow that to happen. Hence, neither METR or the AI Doom Machine can be trusted to provide independent assessments of Anthropic's models or AI more broadly. They simply are not organizations independent of Anthropic. And Anthropic cannot detach itself from METR or Tarbell or countless other safety orgs (not shown here), either, because they drive hype for the models and the possibility of eventual regulatory capture, and Anthropic will not give that up willingly. What's more, the people at all of these organizations are all the same ecosystem, the same community. They just shuffle between organizations. The Anthropic Network is therefore, so long as it is successful, locked into a self-amplifying feedback loop inside an ideological monoculture. And that feedback loop is winning. That's what Jacob Coxon is. China is keeping messaging tight. That is why optimism for AI is so high in China. America has Anthropic: a massive company pushing anti-AI propaganda at a state level. Anthropic will either create hysteria until American AI slows down and China wins, or it will create fractures throughout American society with severe political consequences. Ironically, because of the structural financial incentives underpinning the Anthropic Network, it has become the same kind of self-amplifying virus that it fantasizes AI to become in the future -- while hiding its tracks just as carefully. It is the mirror of the same AI virus that it hypothesizes to consume America. Anthropic's business model, models itself after the very thing it claims to fear. Except Anthropic's ideology infects humans, not computers. Congress must investigate. Evidence and Github in next post. Then some supplementary figures.

Contrast the present hysteria with Los Alamos. The Manhattan Project scientists thought the first nuclear explosion could ignite the atmosphere and end humanity. They did the math. They determined it wouldn’t. And they proceeded. Because they weren’t fighting a thought experiment. They were fighting the Nazis. Effective Altruism inverts this. Multiply a sufficiently horrifying hypothetical future by enough hypothetical future humans and suddenly speculation acquires the moral authority of fact. That’s not empiricism. It’s secular eschatology. Take risks seriously. Do the work. Engineer against them. But don’t confuse the ability to imagine the apocalypse with the authority to rule the present.

Dario has written that we need to “pace the frontier,” and Sam has agreed. People may be surprised by my response: go ahead. You guys are the frontier. By any reasonable metric — market share, revenue growth, model capability — the two of you have a duopoly on frontier intelligence. You’ve also claimed the lead is widening because of recursive self-improvement. I don’t see what you see in the lab. If the unreleased models are scary enough that you think you should slow down, I support your decision to be responsible. But stop pretending you need anyone else’s permission. Stop pretending antitrust law has to be suspended so you can form a cartel. Stop pretending you need a regulatory approval process that supersedes product liability. Stop pretending METR is independent when it is intertwined with Anthropic’s investors and staff. Stop pretending you need those same evaluators to police competitors who aren’t even at the frontier. Most of all, stop pretending the motivation to slow down is purely altruistic. You face massive product-liability exposure if your products enable a truly damaging cyberattack. The market already punishes models that behave in unpredictable or unauthorized ways. After the Hugging Face episode, it is simply good business for OpenAI and Anthropic to trade some raw power for reliability and predictability. Call it alignment if you want. It is also just giving customers what they want. Pacing the frontier would also create breathing room for a more intelligent conversation about regulation than Bernie Sanders’ “shut it all down.” China is very unlikely to join a global agreement, as you know, and that has to be taken into account as well. So go ahead and pace the frontier. You are the ones setting it. The easiest way not to build superintelligence is for you to agree not to build it. Demanding your preferred regulatory framework as the price of that will look like blackmail of the public and the political system. So just do it. If you do, you’ll buy goodwill for the next conversation. If you don’t, we’ll know this was just another bid for regulatory capture — or an election-season psyop.

bittensor:native = ai sovereignty Please buy just one $tao on @coinbase for two reasons: 1. “bet to to learn” while… 2. … you support “a third way” to protect sovereign intelligence This is financial and philosophical advice. Worst case you lose $200, best case you help support a movement and make a 2-3x Pure speculative bet So again, I’m explicitly telling each of you to vote $200 on a $TAO future — not to make money necessarily, but to support “the third way!” You will provably lose all $200 Please hit like to confirm you understand this terrible financial advice I’ve given you!!! 😂😂😂 I have 750k bet on $tao I think it’s the most inspiring open source crypto project since solana:So11111111111111111111111111111111111111112 and bitcoin:native

.@OKX unveiled OKX AI, with support from Opentensor Foundation. OKX AI turns agent capabilities into onchain services, tasks, and reputation. And Bittensor subnet APIs are coming soon, bringing subnet intelligence directly into the OKX AI Marketplace.
AI agents can already work, create, and earn. Now they have a marketplace. Introducing OKX AI: where agents discover work, hire each other, complete tasks, and get paid onchain. The one-person company just got an agentic workforce. Start here: okx.ai

I've been in #bittensor ecosystem since the early days. I've watched this network grow from a fringe idea to something @chamath talks about publicly. I need to say something, not as a commentator but as a early subnet co-founder and as someone with skin in the game. This is not the crisis it looks like. This is Governance Debt - the compounding friction that accumulates when a protocol's social layer fails to keep pace with its technical genius. #Bitcoin went through the block size wars. #Ethereum went through the DAO wars. Both emerged more legitimate, more anti-fragile, and ultimately more valuable. Not despite the conflict - because of how the community responded to it. The question isn't who is right. The question is whether the $TAO community has the maturity to convert this moment into structural progress. I believe it does. But only if we're honest about what this dispute actually revealed. To @const_reborn: You built something genuinely rare. The #dTAO architecture is elegant — using alpha token markets to allocate emissions through price signals rather than committee decisions is one of the most honest incentive designs in crypto. Stepping down from the Opentensor CEO role was a rare act of intellectual honesty that most founders never show. I genuinely respect it. But the community asks for one more step. Not because you're wrong on the technical facts of this specific dispute. But because the gap between technical correctness and community trust has become a liability for the protocol itself. When your alpha token sells - however small relative to your holdings - read as governance actions, that is a structural problem, not a perception problem. Champion a neutral audit layer. It costs you nothing and gains the protocol everything. To @DistStateAndMe: What your team proved with Covenant-72B cannot be unproved. A 72B parameter model trained permissionlessly across dozens of contributors on commodity hardware - cited by #Anthropic's co-founder, noticed by @chamath. That proof lives in the research, not in any one network's infrastructure. Build wherever you build next. But don't let the exit become the headline that overwrites the evidence. The temperatures are high because the stakes are genuinely historic. Grayscale has filed for $TAO spot ETF. Serious institutional capital is now watching this ecosystem with real intent. The worst possible thing we can do at this exact moment is look like every other #Web3 project that imploded over informal power disputes. Now here is what I actually want to say because this moment is too important to spend entirely on the flame war. The dispute exposed #Bittensor's most critical missing layer: there is no neutral, on-chain mechanism for subnet evaluation, governance arbitration or accountability. Subnet quality is vibes-based. Emissions integrity is vibes-based. Miner collusion detection is vibes-based. When conflicts arise, they resolve on #Twitter - not through transparent, verifiable process. That is not a criticism of any individual. It is a design gap that this community can fill, permissionlessly, without asking anyone's approval. Specifically: ① A Neutral 'Moody's for Subnets' - an independent Research Validator Node producing academic-grade subnet audits. If a subnet is on 100% burn code and not running, the data makes that case. Not a founder's alpha sell. Not a Discord moderator action. The data! This also solves the cold start problem and enables a base model for weights initialization. ② Proof-of-Intelligence as Protocol Standard (PoIP) - mandating Chain-of-Thought traces that validators can mathematically verify, combined with ZK Proof-of-Compute. If we cannot verify the reasoning, we should not reward the work. This transforms #Bittensor from a market of claims into a market of verifiable intelligence. That is what Jensen #nvidia is actually betting on. ③ Shapley Value Rewards: restructuring miner compensation around unique contribution to consensus, not consensus-matching. This kills collusion incentives at the protocol level. Structurally. No moderator required. ④ Cross-Subnet Schemas - Bittensor's ERC moment - #Ethereum's equivalent of ERC. 128 isolated subnets is a fragmented network. 128 subnets on shared interoperability standards is a composable intelligence economy. The difference is enormous and buildable right now. None of these require a multisig. None require the Opentensor Foundation. None require Const's approval or Sam's blessing. They require builders who understand the protocol deeply enough to ship them - and a community that demands them loudly enough to make them unavoidable. The $TAO community has been celebrating but we have been too passive on governance. We outsourced the decisions about what this network becomes to a very small number of people and then expressed surprise when informal power concentrated exactly where formal power was absent. Revolutionary technology demands unprecedented governance. We cannot import Web2 power structures onto #Web3 rails, call it decentralization and then act shocked when the gap shows. Build the Bittensor Protocol Infrastructure & Research Lab - a permissionless, replicable innovation hub. I am proposing an International AGI Reasoning Competition targeting the top 0.1% of global reasoning architects, beginning in emerging economies that this network was always supposed to serve. I am working on the synthetic dataset archive that captures miner reasoning as a commercial asset and turns it into a Process Reward Model - making AI safe by design, not by policy. The goal is a self-sustaining model accountable to no single person. Governed by the community. Funded by validator revenue & dataset licensing. This is the Protocol Memory that will outlive all of us - and the conflict that sparked it will be a footnote. I've been quiet for a while but not anymore. If you're a serious builder, researcher, validator or investor who wants to work on this - my DMs are open. Forward! $TAO #Bittensor #DecentralizedAI

California state government spending on waste & fraud will keep increasing until the GOLDEN STATE has COOKED all the GOLDEN GEESE. Mark my words. This has always been inevitable and is not due to Newsom or any individual. The Democratic Party is utterly controlled by the unions and the trial lawyers and California is a one-party state. Any politician nominally “in charge” of California has two choices: 1. Stop sending crazy money to the public sector unions and law firms. 2. Sacrifice the most productive citizens to pay the graft. They will always pick the second choice, because they will lose their primary if they pick the first. Only bankruptcy will force a righting of the state, but, between now and then, they will feast on the golden geese who were laying the golden eggs.
Has your lived experience in California gotten 3x better in the past 20 years? Because your taxes and borrowing have gone up to triple spending in that same time. California Population: 2004: 35.6M 2024: 39.4M California Spending: 2004: $155B ($4,350/person) 2025: $510B ($12,940/person)
