Delta is now in public beta. It’s a multiplayer environment for coding with agents and reviewing what they build, with every code change linked to the conversation that produced it.
Anyone can download it today on macOS, Linux, and Windows: delta.dev/download
Lost a thread? Ask Delta to find it.
Delta has built-in tools to search and read your past threads. Just describe what you remember.
We tested 25 approaches to MCP tool search, including decision models, LLMs, and embeddings. Our benchmark runs 150 search queries against 536 tools.
We settled on weighted BM25 with a few normalization rules. Fast, local, no model or API calls.
Ready for the next Zed meetup in Amsterdam? Join us on October 27 for an evening talks and socializing with other Zed users. We're joining forces with @aitinkerers to bring you this meetup (and grow the community, of course!). And big thanks to @jetbrains for hosting us.
The Zed talk will be all about how we built Delta, a real-time sync engine to bring you a much faster and lighter way to talk to all of the humans and agents in your life. 😊

Look ma we're famous!
Happy to partner with @figma to bring the power of Figma to Delta and Zed via MCP!
Come meet the Bay Area Rust community! We meet every third Wednesday of the month. And our next meetup is already here, on October 21. We'll meet at the Atuin office in the Mission. And we have a very cool lineup of speakers including @bedrockrobotics.

In this video, Joseph asks Delta to configure itself to use @ollama as a custom OpenAI-compatible provider. It all happens in the thread, without Joseph ever touching Settings.
AI Engineer New York was a blast! Loved all the fun chats and the chance to demo and discuss Delta in person. See you next time, @aiDotEngineer!
Who wants smaller Zed binaries?
In the next Stable release, Zed's executable drops by ~30% across every platform.
Ah man you’re right, continuous version control has no applications for agentic software. Damn.

dude what? nobody writes code anymore, why do we need google docs for IDE. dead on arrival
Developers built Google Docs and Figma so others wouldn't lose work, then ironically kept using decades-old tools that let us lose our own.
@conradirwin explains how DeltaDB uses CRDTs to sync every keystroke so no work is lost.

Jev images is here
One question about an image that is 850x850 cost one hundredth of a cent - $0.000096936
about 10,000 images for a dollar.
referencing the image more than once duplicates the token usage - so asking two questions in a single request is equivalent to uploading two images
🚀 Zed v1.24 is out!
You can now create Git tags directly in Zed.
Use `git: create tag at head` from the command palette, or choose `Create Tag…` from a commit's context menu in Git history or Git Graph.
Thanks cppcoffee!

if you like GUI editors, @zeddotdev is basically like a version of VS Code that’s not terrible. if you like terminal editors, i’ve heard good things about Helix
