"Potential alone is not enough. Potential requires opportunity. Opportunity requires investment. And investment requires commitment."
When we talk about youth empowerment, we are often asked: What does it actually look like in action?
It looks like moving beyond consulting young people after decisions are made, and instead partnering with them from the very beginning.
Across East Africa, youth are proving every day that they are not just leaders of tomorrow, they are leading right now.
From spearheading community-led initiatives and driving climate action to innovating digital solutions and championing child rights, young changemakers are rewriting what is possible.
Yet, their leadership cannot rely on passion alone. It requires deliberate, sustained investment.
That means:
Expanding access to quality education and practical skills training.
Creating inclusive spaces and platforms for meaningful youth participation in governance. Breaking down barriers that limit economic and digital opportunities.
Recognizing youth as equal partners in shaping resilient communities.
When we invest in youth leadership, we aren't just supporting an individual; we are unlocking a ripple effect that transforms entire generations.
Youth leads the way not someday, but today. How are you creating space for youth leadership in your sphere of influence? 🌍
#YouthLeads #YouthEmpowerment #YouthLeadership #ChildWellBeing #WorldVisionEARO
A young innovator in Nairobi. A young entrepreneur in Addis Ababa. A young climate activist in Kigali. Different corners of the continent. Different local challenges. Different daily realities. Yet listen to their ambitions, and the vision sounds remarkably alike:
✨ A chance to turn bold ideas into sustainable enterprises.
✨ Quality education and skills for the jobs of tomorrow.
✨ Meaningful seats at tables where policies are decided.
✨ A safer, greener, more prosperous Africa.
That is the profound power of Africa Youth Day. Across the continent, young people are not waiting for permission to lead. They are driving tech revolutions, championing climate resilience, transforming food systems, and rebuilding communities every single day.
The question before us is never whether Africa’s youth have the solutions. The question is whether we are building enough pathways to back them up. When young people are given the resources, trust, and space they need to thrive, entire nations move forward. Let’s do more than celebrate youth today.
Let's invest in their unstoppable leadership. #AfricaYouthDay #YouthEmpowerment #AfricaYouth #YouthLeadership #WorldVisionEARO

How far away is opportunity?
For millions of children, the answer can be measured in the distance to the nearest water source. For Marie, a 13-year-old in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, access to water once meant a two-hour walk each day. Today, it takes just 30 seconds.
That difference is about more than convenience. It is about time returned to childhood, education, safety and possibility.
Across Africa, bringing water closer to home is helping children spend less time collecting water and more time building their futures. Marie's story is a reminder that sometimes the most transformative changes are also the simplest.

“Who decides what children see online?”
That question hits differently when you consider what is at stake. For children, the digital world is a place to learn, make friends, express themselves and explore new possibilities. But it can also expose them to violence, exploitation and harm. And too often, the decisions that shape their online experiences are made without enough input from the very children affected.
Across Africa, children are speaking up. They are bringing their experiences, concerns and ideas into conversations about online safety, challenging adults to rethink what protection should look like and demanding a meaningful role in shaping the digital spaces they use.
Their perspectives took centre stage during the Day of General Discussion on “Violence Against Children and Harmful Practices: Navigating the Digital Frontier,” held alongside the 48th Ordinary Session of the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (ACERWC).
But hearing children is only the beginning. What happens next is what matters.
Will their experiences influence the policies we shape, the protections we strengthen and the accountability we demand? Will their concerns lead to changes children can actually feel in their everyday digital lives?
A safer digital world cannot be built on decisions made about children while leaving them out of the conversation. Their voices must help shape the way forward.

📌 Affordable for whom?
A family's income can only stretch so far. Yet food prices don't always stop there.
A food basket has a price. A household has an income. Somewhere between the two, a parent is working out what can wait until next week, what must come off the shopping list, and whether what's left will nourish their children.
Food affordability is where the cost of living meets the reality of putting a meal on the table. And across 62 countries, World Vision's latest food basket survey examines just how far earnings stretch against the cost of a standard basket of food.
This World Food Day, let's look beyond the price tag to a question that matters just as much: what does it actually cost to eat well?
Explore the findings in this World Vision's Price Shocks report: l1nq.com/price-shocks
#WorldFoodDay #Nutrition #WorldVision
First, hunger takes away the meal. Then it begins to take away everything that meal makes possible:
A child’s growth. Their development. Their chance to learn, play and discover who they can become.
This World Food Day, the reality in Turkana asks something of us. What does our responsibility to care for one another look like when drought leaves children without the nourishment they need to grow and develop?
For World Vision, responding to mass hunger is part of that responsibility. But the need is bigger than any one response. Children need access to nutritious food today, and families need the support to withstand the crises that threaten their food security tomorrow.
Our calling is to be part of changing this reality.
#WorldFoodDay #Nutrition #WorldVision
If you could innovate one thing to make nutritious food more accessible for children, what would it be?
As we mark World Food Day 2026, we'd love to hear from you!
Because when nutritious food becomes a luxury, what exactly are families being asked to sacrifice? An empty plate tells us how much work remains. Bold Hope reminds us why we keep going.

6 in every 10 people in Africa lack access to early warning systems for extreme weather and climate change.
When heavy rains threaten to flood a home or drought puts a harvest at risk, knowing what lies ahead can make all the difference. But a warning only has value when it reaches people in time and they can act on it.
The case for investing in preparedness is compelling. The World Bank estimates that universal access to early warning systems could reduce disaster-related losses by US$35 billion every year.
Behind that figure is an opportunity to protect more than homes and property. It is an opportunity to safeguard lives, livelihoods, harvests and the progress families have worked hard to build.
Through anticipatory action and community-based disaster risk management, World Vision works with communities to prepare for hazards before they escalate, combining risk information, practical planning, local knowledge and emerging technologies, including AI-powered forecasting and analysis, to help identify risks earlier and strengthen preparedness. This helps communities take informed action before a crisis becomes a disaster.
What would you do if a flood or severe drought threatened your community tomorrow? Do you know where to find reliable weather alerts, how to respond to a warning and what steps your household would take to stay safe?
This International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, take a moment to check your local alerts, discuss an emergency plan with your household and share reliable warnings with those around you.
Resilience starts at home. A little preparation today could make a critical difference tomorrow. 🧡
Water games, puzzles and dance-offs. 🤩
Turns out, our East African Regional Staff had a few surprises up their sleeves!
Last week, we traded our desks for adventure, our routines for challenges, and discovered once again the power of teamwork. ⚡
The competition was fierce, the adrenaline was real, and the laughter was nonstop. Every challenge brought out our passion, determination, and winning spirit. From cheering each other on to pushing beyond our limits, we were reminded that our greatest strength is not just what we achieve individually, but what we accomplish together.
We laughed hard, competed harder, and bonded even stronger.
Because when great teams come together, every challenge becomes an opportunity, every win is shared, and every moment creates memories worth celebrating. 🏆🔥
Here is to the thrill of the challenge, connections, and team spirit that will carry us forward long after the final challenge. Fueled by passion. Driven by purpose. Stronger together. 🚀🔥

One strategy does not mean one way of working.
Picture a rural community. A growing town. A fragile setting.
The realities children and families experience in each of these places can be very different. When those realities are different, our response needs to reflect them.
That is at the heart of a three-day workshop bringing together World Vision teams from across East Africa and the Global Centre to explore what Our Promise Phase III, Bold Hope For Children, means in the places where we work.
Our Promise Phase III is World Vision’s strategy for how we work towards greater impact for vulnerable children. But a strategy only creates impact when it can respond to the realities of the communities where it is put into practice.
Across the three days, teams have been sharing experiences, challenging ideas and asking practical questions: What does this strategy look like in different contexts? What needs to adapt? What needs to remain consistent? And how do we ensure our ways of working are responsive to the realities on the ground?
The goal is to ensure all offices are enriched to scale up Our Promise, while giving teams the space to think critically about what implementation looks like in their own contexts.
One of the greatest gifts of what we do is being part of something so much bigger than ourselves. 🧡
When we step away from the daily pace of our work to gather in prayer, something powerful happens.
Across borders and backgrounds, we are reminded of a simple, beautiful truth: we are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus, sharing the love God gave so freely to the world.
Yesterday , across all World vision offices, we paused as one body to reflect on God’s unwavering faithfulness throughout FY2026. Together, we lifted up the children who are the true heart of our mission. Every act of service, every strategic partnership, and every step taken in faith moves us closer to a world where every child experiences life in all its fullness.
This work is never carried by one person, one team, or one country. It is a shared journey. One sustained by faith, fueled by partnership, and anchored in the belief that together, we can change lives.
One region. One purpose. Held together in prayer. 🙏🏾🧡
Thank you to every single person who joined us and continues to walk this path of hope.
#DayOfPrayer #FaithInAction #WorldVision #EastAfrica #TogetherForChildren #HopeInAction #Leadership
Our Day of Prayer gives us a moment to reflect on the journey, celebrate God's faithfulness, and remember that every step forward, no matter how small, matters.
As we look ahead, we carry a renewed sense of purpose and a bold hope for what can be achieved when faith, compassion, and action come together for children.

Humanitarian advocacy ensures that response efforts reflect real needs, not assumptions.
In crisis settings, decisions are often made under pressure and at speed. Without deliberate advocacy, critical gaps can emerge, leaving the most vulnerable, especially children, without adequate support or protection.
Humanitarian advocacy uses real-time evidence from affected communities to identify where needs are greatest.
It brings those findings into decision-making spaces, influencing priorities, funding, and response design.
It works to ensure that interventions are aligned with the realities people face, not just the plans on paper.
When advocacy is effective, it does more than raise awareness, it shapes how resources are allocated, who is prioritised, and how quickly support reaches those at greatest risk.
#HumanitarianAction #Advocacy #WorldVisionEARO
One day, today's children will become the people shaping our communities.
The question is: what kind of future will we have helped them step into?
A future where hardship decided what was possible?
Or one where children were given the opportunity to discover their gifts, pursue their dreams and become all they were created to be?
We may not be able to change every circumstance a child faces.
But we can choose not to look away.
We can choose to believe in their potential.
We can choose to stand with them.
We can choose to make hope tangible.
Bold Hope for Children is an invitation to make that choice together.
Because the future we want for children is shaped by what we are willing to do for them today.

Every morning, children like 15-year-old Nyakiir spent valuable learning time walking from home to home and to distant streams in search of water, often arriving late to class or missing school altogether.
Today, that story has changed. With a new borehole at the school, pupils can focus on what matters most, learning, growing, and building brighter futures. Safe water is not only improving attendance and concentration in the classroom, but also restoring dignity and opportunity for children, especially girls.
Made possible through the Enhancing Community Resilience and Local Governance Project Phase II (ECRP II), funded by the World Bank and implemented in partnership with the Government of South Sudan and World Vision, this investment is helping communities thrive.
When clean water flows, children stay in school, families stay healthier and hope is restored.

Children are not just beneficiaries of change, they are powerful agents of change.
When children are empowered to participate in decisions affecting their lives, their voices can influence families, schools and communities. Through child clubs, advocacy initiatives and leadership opportunities, children are learning to speak up for their rights, share their ideas, and contribute to solutions that affect their futures.
Their courage and leadership remind us that meaningful change happens when children are heard, respected and included. By investing in children's participation today, we are helping raise a generation of confident leaders ready to shape a better tomorrow.

What would you do with two extra hours every day?
For 13-year-old Marie, collecting water for her family once meant a journey of nearly two hours. Today, that same trip takes just 30 seconds.
That is more than a shorter walk. It is more time to learn, play, rest, and simply be a child.
Across Africa, improved access to safe water is helping bring opportunity closer to home, enabling children and families to invest their time in education, livelihoods, and building brighter futures.
Read Marie's story and discover what can change when water is within reach. 💧
