this was on the jukeboxes when I was growing up, spending time in bars in my late teens. this one really blew my head wide open because I knew the REO song from the radio and here she recontextualizes it and showed us the core of song

it’s so funny whenever this guy posts cuz it’s like. you make avant garde hypnagogic pop. why did you think you would find an audience amongst right-wingers
why doesn't @Pitchfork report on me anymore? im way WAY MORE relevant now than i ever was in the 2010's, record stores still wont stock my records (AND no distro) BANNED from 90% venues in LA even restaurants. hows that not a story worth telling?
might be a good time for everyone to revisit Marx's four dimensions of alienation and how it relates to stuff you can only do with phones.
The 'glass half full/half empty' way of seeing the world is a real thing- and if you suffer from empty bias, don't beat yourself up. Just do everything you can to combat this tendency, especially if you choose to live life as a creative person.
Really bummed Bari Weiss couldn't find it in her to host another election night watch stream like she did last year- red scare ladies, Coleman Hughes, literally every other scoundrel and smugster this side of bill maher you could think of. What a diff a year makes.
I live in Tennessee ie 'God's country' and if Zohran is elected there's a real threat that I will move to NYC.

Zohran Mamdani’s plan to tax the rich is a 2% tax on income over $1 million.
If you make $1.1 million, you’d pay an extra $2,000.
Watching working class conservatives and politicians completely meltdown about this is wild.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
According to his official platform, he will "champion a 2 percent tax on all incomes over $1 million ... Under this new plan, someone earning $1 million will pay an additional $20,000 in city income tax."
The tax rate would go from 3.9% to 5.9% for those earning >$1 million

So glad Pitchfork asked me write about the new @williamtylertn record, instantly my favorite thing he’s ever done
William Tyler's latest album is an act of reckoning: Collaging together found sounds and field recordings with his own fingerpicking, it feels like an elegy for a nation in free fall
