Who gets recognised as a person, an expert or a trustworthy source? The systems answering those questions deserve scrutiny. Sasha Shilina (@sshshln) researches emerging technologies at @Paradigm_hub Research Institute and co-founded @episteme_sci . Her work includes research on biometric identity and its cultural implications, alongside writing on AI and scientific knowledge. She joins Ethereum Cypherpunk Congress 3 with questions that reach beyond technical performance: how do these systems affect participation, recognition and trust? Meet Sasha alongside advocates and builders examining the choices embedded in digital infrastructure. 2 Nov · Mumbai · Free entry congress.web3privacy.info/

Meet Andreas Tsamados, founder of one of best alternatives to Google Docs - @fileverse @miroyato is building open-source tools for private collaboration, including dDocs, an end-to-end encrypted document editor. The team also provides a way to retrieve documents independently if its hosted services become unavailable. For journalists and civil-society teams, that combines two everyday needs: keeping work confidential and retaining access to it. Meet Andreas Tsamados at Ethereum Cypherpunk Congress 3 to explore tools that give organisations more control over their working environment. 2 Nov · Mumbai · Free entry congress.web3privacy.info/

Jordi Baylina (@jbaylina) x @ziskvm has helped build across donations, independent infrastructure, digital identity and cryptography. Now working on ZisK, Jordi Baylina develops open-source infrastructure for zero-knowledge proofs: tools that let software verify claims while limiting what information needs to be disclosed. That experience matters beyond blockchain development. More private credentials and independently verifiable systems need foundations other people can inspect and build upon. Jordi joins Ethereum Cypherpunk Congress 3. 2 Nov · Mumbai · Free entry congress.web3privacy.info/

thank you for every individual and organisation contributing to privacy-focused fundraising.
What an epoch! Thank you for contributing to advancing privacy on Ethereum and the open internet. Your allocations have helped allocate 100 ETH in matching funds from @GolemFoundation. A big congrats to all the teams in the cohort. Thank you for all your work. Here's to a future where privacy is the default and not the exception.

Happy that AI will play an important role within our @web3privacy Cypherpunk Congress in Mumbai. But it's people's AI. The one @NaomiAKlein, @audreyt, or @timnitGebru are advocating for. Through commons, assemblies, plurality of human voices, and demystification of LLM PR. This November we will gather - investigative journalists exposing ecological damage of data centres - @Sushmitav1 - researchers debunking infrastructures of power - ex-@cis_india - activists who mobilised masses against data centres, - civic hacktivists creating practical tools to tackle AI harm - institutions working on feminist data practices @aaptiinstitute - people battling AI-powered online harm via @ratifoundation & @tattlemade & @povmumbai - protecting civil society against cybercrime @SFLCin - experts crafting bottom-up AI governance via @ITforChange - cybersecurity experts protecting from breaches, theft, threats @ni5arga + @squeal AI can come in many shapes and forms. And it's on us how to deal with it. For the better of the commons. powered by joy of activism: congress.web3privacy.info

An encrypted message can still reveal who is talking to whom. Sebastian Bürgel (@SCBuergel) founded @hoprnet to work on that problem. HOPR develops a decentralised mixnet designed to protect network metadata. Sebastian’s work with @GnosisDAO has also included introducing GnosisVPN, built on HOPR’s privacy infrastructure. For people handling sensitive communications, the connections around a message can matter as much as its contents. Meet Sebastian at Ethereum Cypherpunk Congress 3 to explore how privacy research becomes infrastructure people can use. 2 Nov · Mumbai · Free entry congress.web3privacy.info/

less paranois - better resilience
If this is the new rate of finding security vulnerabilities, I’m actually pretty reassured. Sure, everything’s gonna get pwned, but it’ll all be over in about six months either way. ;)

Welcome to Cypherpunk Congress lineup: Baarish Aggarwal, PhD from @tattlemade They are a qualitative researcher, equity advocate and multi-faceted coach with 12 years in change management for improved equity and inclusion, grant development, organizational strategy, and community resource building. Currently, they conduct safety evaluations of AI systems deployed in diverse grassroots contexts in India to understand how to mitigate bias and protect marginalized communities from AI harms. @tattlemade is an India-based civic tech organisation building open-source tools and datasets to address misinformation, deepfakes, online gender-based violence, and other digital harms. Through community-driven research and technology, Tattle works towards a healthier, more inclusive and accountable online information ecosystem. Baarish Aggarwal will facilitate a panel: "Reimagining AI to address the harms inherent in its design". Inviting practicioners and academia on evaluating AI models and making them safer. The panel will discuss the specific ways in which the development of foundational AI models is leading to repetitive instances of harms such as NCII, misinformation, etc. Expect broad prescriptions for how these harms can be addressed in the short term and how AI systems must be redesigned to prevent these harms from proliferating. Can your community inspect its software, change it and keep using it independently? Denis “Jaromil” Roio (@jaromil ) has spent years building around those freedoms. The founder of @DyneOrg created dyne, a GNU/Linux operating system for multimedia production, and has developed tools for privacy, free expression and participatory democracy. Dyne is a nonprofit software organisation working on technology people can control. Its work also extends to open-source identity tools through its spin-off, Forkbomb. Meet Jaromil at Ethereum Cypherpunk Congress 3, bringing software freedom into the conversation about digital rights. 2 Nov · Mumbai · Free entry congress.web3privacy.info/

Panel alert: Cypherpunk or Junk: Grading Ethereum's Roadmap There's a lot of talk in Ethereum-land about being cypherpunk, but does the roadmap actually reflect those values? Join @soispoke Thomas Thiery (@ethereumfndn), @SCBuergel (@gnosis_ / @hoprnet), @jimjim_eth (@warptoad_xyz) and @cheekygorilla0x (@ProtocolGuild, moderator) as they put the roadmap on trial and judge the upgrades by how cypherpunk they are. Which ones put more power in your hands, and which ones put it in someone else's? Expect stubborn realism, hard tradeoffs, and no hand-waving. Zero technical knowledge required! 2 nov, Cypherpunk Congress, Mumbai: congress.web3privacy.info

Post-Quantum cryptography is challenged by rapid AI developments. @matthew_d_green claims "there is a 1% chance we live in Minicrypt, and a 15% chance we functionally lose confidence in our existing public-key encryption algorithms." @drakefjustin invites people to the bunker mode. @Zac_Aztec "without post-quantum public-key cryptography, we are all a little bit *screwed*". Take a deep breath. Calm down. Let experienced cryptographers do the talking. Welcome, @Zac_Aztec x @aztec & @jbaylina x @ziskvm - encryption heavyweights who will do a fireside on the state of cryptography, AI threats, PQC and more.
