MISO just obliterated the capacity values for solar, storage, and wind.
Solar dropped to 10 percent in summer and 4.5 percent annualized by 2030.
A utility that retired coal for thousands of MW of renewables now has a reliability crisis.

Thwaites Glacier melt can't be blamed on human activity or a warming ocean.
Two studies show it would keep melting for another 150 years even if the deep water cooled.
The regional warming came in at just 0.1ยฐC over two decades and traces back to wind shifts.
No evidence that CO2 or policy choices have anything to do with it.
So what's actually happening there?

This is a place for discussion where climate topics get aired without the usual deletions and bans.
Most platforms have decided what counts as acceptable opinion on temperatures and policies. This one skips all that.
See what actually gets said when the filters come off.

A fusion company ordered more than 10,000 kilometers of superconducting tape for a commercial power plant. No one has ever tried to make that much at once.
AI data centers will more than double their power use by 2030, hitting the level of Japan's whole grid.
The real limit on superconductors isn't new records. It's turning lab materials into reliable, mass-produced wire that passes years of utility testing.
Most discoveries stay as pellets because no one builds the manufacturing know-how early.
Now the demand is here, and the supply chain isn't.

These guys claimed their wind and pumped hydro setup would power an entire island with 100% renewables.
The highest share they ever hit in a full year was 56%.
It has been downhill from there.
They overbuilt the wind turbines by more than double and added big storage.
Still, calm spells drain the reservoirs and diesel takes over.
Bigger places keep charging ahead with the same plan anyway.

CO2 stopped the next ice age in its tracks, a Science paper claims.
It points to the Barnes Ice Cap on Baffin Island.
The ice advanced for centuries until 1960, then turned around.
The authors blame greenhouse gases for ending the glaciation before it could grow big.
The same group had a different take on the ice cap just nine years ago.

Young workers in AI-exposed jobs have suffered a 19% employment decline relative to expectations. Older workers in those fields have not.
The reason boils down to training data. Code is abundant and easy to test. Fixing a leaky pipe in a real house? Not so much.
Plenty of careers remain resistant to AI for exactly that reason.

A coal plant running only three weeks since April shows it was essential for reserves, not wasteful. The Denver Post headline has it backward. Wind production can crash to 6% of capacity when expected over 40%, and neighbors often have none. The alternative is blackouts costing $130 billion like in Texas.

The US just closed the tax credit transition window for wind and solar. Projects that missed the July 4, 2026 construction start deadline now have until December 31, 2027, to become operational. Miss that and the incentives disappear. Rules on supply chains from prohibited foreign entities make qualification even trickier. This shift is forcing a major rethink in project planning.

The Greenland ice cores in the Pages 2k reconstruction used by IPCC AR6 have zero correlation with actual temperatures.
One site returns an R2 of exactly zero. Cores just 30 meters apart give conversion slopes ranging from -20 to 0.8.
Pages 2k ignored the elevation fixes that straighten this out.
Vinther got it right back in 2009.

Climate change killed 32,619 people in European cities last summer. The study behind that number used zero actual death records.
They fitted old temperature-mortality patterns from 232 cities and applied them to 622 others with no local data. Vulnerability stayed fixed at 2019 levels while air conditioning spread.
They subtracted model-estimated warming from the real temperatures to create a cooler summer that never happened, then ran both through the models. The gap became the climate death toll.
No bodies counted. Just stacked assumptions.

November 13, 2026, is the day a 1960 paper said human population would approach infinity.
Three scientists ran the numbers on two thousand years of estimates and got a clean hyperbolic curve that blew up on that exact date.
The math looked tight enough that they claimed even Napoleon could have nailed the prediction within 30 years.
By the 1970s their forecast was picking up believers.
Now that date is weeks away.

Australia's weather bureau is blaming bogong moths for their radars showing rain on clear nights.
Millions of the insects are migrating south and lighting up the screens as fake precipitation.
The Bureau of Meteorology insists the gear isn't broken.
