VLC 3.0.24 is out.
This is a maintenance release focusing on security, with more than 130 security bugs found, but also adding small features like CEA-708 in MP4 or ATRAC codecs support, and updating 3rd party libraries.

This release still works from Windows XP to 11, macOS 10.7 to 27, most Linux, BSD and OS/2.

The maintenance of VLC, and especially this release fixing all those security issues is clearly sponsored by @sovtechfund.
If you are German, don't forget to thank your MPs.
VDD 26 conference is upon us, in 4 weeks, in Roma.
If you care about open source multimedia, you should come.

"Play Cyberpunk 2077 on a Pentium III from 1999"
Our crazy demo and our 90s teenagers room booth won the best of the show award at @IBCShow
Yes, Cyberpunk is fully playbable on the PIII and on the CRT screen through @Kyber_tech with extremely low latency.
Yes, this is a booth in a normal tradeshow :)
Love to @CDPROJEKTRED
Your old computer is not dead. It just needs VLC!!!
Running the current VLC version on a iMac G3 (1998) and on a Pentium III on Windows XP (1999).
Live on our booth at @IBCShow, with JBK, you can see and test them. Yes, both machines still work & yes, the latest VLC still runs on them!
No, they are not ready for the e-waste pile....
Because software compatibility is also an environmental feature, and because people don't optimize the software
VLC remembers. It has always had a soft spot for old formats, old machines and technologies everybody else declared dead.
The last version of VLC runs on windows XP to 11, macOS 10.07 to 27, iOS9 to 27, Android 4.1 to the latest.
Runs on ChromeBooks, Apple TV, Android TV, VegaOs FireTV, Windows on ARM, Pentium III and so on…
With PowerVLC it runs on G3 with MacOS X 10.2!
Optimize more, keep your hardware longer!
With love.

On our common booth with @Kyber_tech at @IBCShow, You can also see Cyperpunk 2077 running on a Pentium III !
Yes, on this 1999 machine with no hardware acceleration and a weak CPU (no SSE2), Kyber is streaming the game to the P3, with low-enough latency that you can actually play!
Come and see the best booth of @IBCShow at Hall 2.C20f!
