JPMorgan is bringing its JPM Coin deposit token to Ethereum, allowing institutional clients to move money directly on the public blockchain. The token, known as JPMD, represents US dollar deposits held at JPMorgan and can be used for payments and settling transactions around the clock. JPM Coin was previously launched on Coinbase's Base network in November 2025, and Ethereum is now the latest addition. JPMorgan says Ethereum's existing liquidity and growing market for tokenized assets made it a natural choice for the expansion. However, JPM Coin isn't available to everyone. Access remains limited to approved institutional clients. More traditional financial institutions are starting to use public blockchains for transactions that previously depended on conventional banking infrastructure. And Ethereum is becoming part of that infrastructure.

The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) has proposed new requirements covering capital reserves, asset custody, and trading operations. Under the proposals, crypto platforms would face additional financial requirements, restrictions on certain trading activities, and more reporting obligations for wallets holding customer assets. The rules are part of Australia's broader digital asset framework, scheduled to take effect in April 2027. For investors, the important question is how platforms protect customer assets, not simply how many tokens they offer. The proposals are still open for public consultation, so the final requirements could change before implementation.

Ledger just unveiled Atom, an $849 device that looks like a smartphone but is designed around securing digital assets. Unlike traditional hardware wallets, Atom runs Android apps alongside a separate secure environment for managing crypto. It comes with a 6.77-inch OLED display, a physical privacy switch for its camera and microphone, and a dedicated system for approving sensitive transactions. Ledger is also integrating Solana Mobile's Seeker app, giving users access to its wallet and decentralized app ecosystem. The device is expected to ship in 2027, with reservations already open. The timing is interesting, especially after last week's reports of tampered Ledger devices being used to steal crypto through third-party resellers. While those reports involved supply-chain tampering rather than a confirmed breach of Ledger's internal systems, they are another reminder that hardware security depends on more than just the technology inside a device. With Atom, Ledger is moving beyond traditional hardware wallets toward devices that combine everyday apps with secure crypto transactions. Would you trust an all-in-one crypto device, or would you rather keep your hardware wallet separate?

US wholesale inflation rose 6.3% year over year in September, its highest reading since December 2022. The Producer Price Index (PPI) also jumped 1.3% in a single month, more than double the 0.6% economists expected. Much of the increase came from higher energy costs, with gasoline prices rising more than 20%. This comes just one day after another hotter-than-expected consumer inflation report. For $BTC investors, the concern is that persistent inflation could force the Federal Reserve to keep interest rates higher for longer. When borrowing remains expensive, investors generally become more cautious about taking risks, including in crypto.

The UK could end up keeping billions in seized Bitcoin while fraud victims continue fighting to recover their money. A High Court ruling has made it harder for victims of a major Chinese investment fraud to claim approximately 61,000 $BTC seized by British police. The court ruled that Chinese law, rather than English law, should govern their claims. That doesn't mean the government automatically owns the Bitcoin. But it means victims face another legal hurdle before they can recover their funds. It's a reminder that recovering stolen crypto isn't always as simple as tracking where it went.

HEX and PulseChain founder Richard Heart has reportedly been detained in Istanbul. Turkish media say authorities acted on an Interpol Red Notice that Finland requested over alleged aggravated tax fraud. Reports also claim police seized around $4 million in cash and 64 luxury watches. $HEX and $PLS fell sharply following the news. Heart's detention and the reported seizures have not yet been independently confirmed by Turkish police or Interpol. His previous SEC case in the US was dismissed in 2025.

US inflation just hit 3.7%, and Bitcoin and the entire crypto market is feeling the pressure. $BTC fell below $82,000 after the latest report raised concerns about another interest rate hike. When borrowing gets more expensive, investors tend to become more cautious with riskier assets, including crypto. Bitcoin's supply hasn't changed, but the amount of money investors are willing to put into it can. If you're holding for the long term, it's worth knowing the difference between a change in Bitcoin itself and a change in the market around it. Does inflation still influence how you view Bitcoin?

FungoLabs ( @FungoLabs ) is giving away 500 free Genesis NFT mints, and the artwork and character stats stay encrypted so only the holder can see them. No token has been announced. The collection uses Zama’s fully homomorphic encryption on Ethereum, with each NFT holding a private Look and a private Essence of class, element, and four attributes. Applying requires only social tasks and manual review by the team, and selected users pay only Ethereum gas fees. Of 3,232 NFTs, 2,500 are reserved for a public sale in cZAMA, with no price or mint date announced yet. We wrote the full guide on how the whitelist works, how rarity breaks down, and what’s still unconfirmed: usethebitcoin.com/airdrop/fu…

A 1.2 TH/s home miner would take roughly 14,200 years on average to find a Bitcoin block, based on an illustrative 900 EH/s network. It can win sooner, but it can also never win. Solo mining pays the full 3.125 BTC block subsidy plus fees if your miner lands a block, with no pool sharing. Compact devices like the Bitaxe Gamma and NerdQaxe++ make it easy to try at home, and a hosted service like Solo CKPool lets you avoid running your own node. Electricity is small, roughly $1 to $2 a month for a Bitaxe at $0.12 per kWh, but the odds are the whole story. We compared the hardware, walked through setup, and broke down the real costs: usethebitcoin.com/bitcoin/so…

Bitcoin has no gold, no government, and no promise of redemption behind it. Instead, the network’s rules, miners, and thousands of independent nodes do the work, and none of that guarantees a price. Proof-of-work makes rewriting transaction history expensive, a roughly 21 million BTC supply cap is enforced by consensus rules, and full nodes reject any block that creates coins it shouldn’t. Mining cost isn’t a price floor either, and a halving cuts new supply without guaranteeing demand. The US dollar isn’t redeemable for gold since 1971, so β€œbacked by” has meant different things over time. We broke down what actually supports $BTC, how it compares with gold and fiat, and the common misconceptions: usethebitcoin.com/bitcoin/wh…

Standard Chartered now offers institutional custody for Ripple’s $RLUSD stablecoin on the XRP Ledger, giving eligible clients a bank-grade place to hold it. The service runs through the bank’s Dubai International Financial Center branch, which is regulated by the DFSA. Standard Chartered ( @StanChart ) is also working with Ripple ( @Ripple ) and LMAX Group ( @LMAX ) on a collateral model where RLUSD stays in custody while its value is mirrored to the trading venue, so clients wouldn’t need to move tokens to use them as collateral. It builds on the Ripple and LMAX partnership announced in January, which included $150 million in financing from Ripple. The collateral phase is still in development and subject to testing and approvals. Read the full story on UseTheBitcoin: usethebitcoin.com/xrp/standa…

A bug that existed since 2015 could have let a specially crafted transaction create about 18 trillion $XRP in testing. Developers say they found no evidence it was ever exploited on a public network. The flaw was an integer overflow in the XRP Ledger’s payment engine that also affected the safety check meant to catch supply changes. Researchers reported it through the bug bounty program on September 22, and RippleX shipped the fix in xrpld 3.4.1 on September 25, bypassing the usual amendment vote so the details wouldn’t give attackers a head start. Full technical details were disclosed October 9. The 18 trillion figure is the impact shown in controlled testing, not XRP that was actually created, and the 100 billion supply is reported intact. Node operators should run 3.4.1 or newer. Read the full story on UseTheBitcoin: usethebitcoin.com/xrp/xrp-le…

The 1.1 million BTC attributed to Satoshi Nakamoto is a forensic estimate, not a confirmed balance. A rival study put the dominant early miner closer to 600,000 to 700,000. Both studies found evidence of one miner dominating Bitcoin’s first year, spotted through quirks in early nonce and ExtraNonce values known as the Patoshi Pattern. Most of those coins have never moved, though that doesn’t prove the keys still exist or that Satoshi was the miner. Many sit in early P2PK outputs, which would matter if quantum computers ever become capable of attacking exposed public keys. Holding that much $BTC wouldn’t give Satoshi special control over the protocol, since nodes enforce the rules. Read the full story on UseTheBitcoin: usethebitcoin.com/bitcoin/ho…

Jamie Dimon called $BTC a fraud in 2017 and threatened to fire traders who touched it. By 2025, JPMorgan was letting clients buy it. Our list covers ten famous skeptics and how their arguments have aged. Some critics were right about real problems: Roubini’s 2017 bubble warning was followed by an 80% crash, and Bitcoin still produces no cash flow. Others look weaker now, and one is still unresolved: Eugene Fama’s forecast that Bitcoin will likely be worthless runs through 2035. We broke down all ten, what each got right, and what they underestimated: usethebitcoin.com/bitcoin/ce…

Filecoin’s ( @Filecoin ) six-year vesting schedule ends October 15, which could cut annualized new $FIL releases from about 89 million to about 21 million. Storage-provider rewards continue. That’s a reduction in the pace of new tokens, roughly 68 million FIL a year, not 68 million FIL leaving circulation. FIL rose 9.4% to about $1.22 as traders focused on the change, but lower issuance alone doesn’t guarantee a sustained rally, since price still depends on demand and whether holders sell into gains. Filecoin is also pushing toward more paid storage demand through Filecoin Onchain Cloud, with AI, DePIN, and enterprise use as stated targets. PERPTools ( @perptools ) gives traders a few ways to build points toward the confirmed $PERP airdrop: perpetual futures, spot swaps, AI agents, and referrals. Its Season 2 campaign just began with fresh point balances, and spot trading is new this season, with a stated 0% swap fee. AI Arena lets you create your own trading agent or deposit USDC into an existing one, and referrals earn 10% of their invitees’ points plus a share of their trading fees, paid in USDC. Points convert proportionally into $PERP at the late Q4 2026 token launch, and the final allocation and conversion rate are still to come. Papertrade ( @papertrade_xyz ) turns trading losses into tokens: every closed losing position or liquidation mints PAPER, which can then be staked for a share of protocol fees paid in USDC. The perps exchange launched October 10 on HyperEVM with BTC and ETH markets and no pre-mine, team allocation, or VC allocation. At the initial rate, a $10 realized loss mints 1,000 PAPER while the pool is under $2 million. Staking PAPER can earn USDC from half of protocol fees plus excess liquidity above $5 million, though rewards vary and aren’t a guaranteed yield. We wrote the full guide on how minting, staking, and the settlement queue work: usethebitcoin.com/airdrop/pa…
