Urbit is a computer built with networking, ownership, and durability as foundational design principles. A computer that you can trust to be yours, forever.

This evening I booted an Urbit ship using the Ares Nock interpreter and the Vere I/O layer. It's not the first time this has been done, but it's the first time in about two years or so. Ares has landed on Mars again.

Private GitHub repositories are a terrible dependency. Use urbit. lattice.nisfeb.com/
This is 100% the move. A centralized, up to date knowledge base that all your agents can access so you're never locked in to one platform. Here's how we built ours: 1. The whole thing is 2 private Github repos of plain markdown files. One company brain, one personal. 2. We numbered each folder by function. Company has brand, customers, products, sales, ops, finance. Personal has health, investments, family. 3. One AGENTS. md file that every agent reads first. 4. At the end of each day our agents run a "knowledge base audit" skill that compares the day's work to both brains and suggests edits. What I love about this system is that it allows us to test all the new agent platforms without starting from scratch. Zero agent lock-in.

RemiliaNET is a fundamentally different thing than Urbit. Urbit reinvents the personal computer with a sovereign ownership thesis around user control over computing infrastructure and a shared data model primarily for application communication. It's biggest challenge is the bespoke technical stack required to deliver this; it's essentially a new operating system, and that has a major engineering and funding lift to deliver without any specific user/social product. We're not building a new computer, but a new internet; it's a boring technology stack exploiting conventional web interfaces because the shared model is the relation and knowledge graph, not the application layer, allowing the actual client application's stack to be agnostic—there is no reason a full RemiliaNET client would not exist on Urbit or integrated into Urbit applications. This is possible in part because our ownership thesis is portability and openness, not control. It is consciously designed this way; not attempting to exit the current internet, but to build a wrapper, absorbing it in. The challenge then instead is entirely on developing the social and semantic graph to achieve runaway network effects. So the real question is, why does Remilia think it can launch a new social network to take on the titans, when the entire startup market has given up after a graveyard of a thousand tried and failed social? Setting aside the product's architecture being something that has never been tried before; and the current positioning of the web about to be inundated with a flood they have spent no serious time thinking about or preparing for; the real answer is—who else could do it, if not Remilia? Humanity has a narrow window to save the internet, and itself with it; and even if we don't step up to take the shot—who else will?

Dave was afraid of Hoon. Now Dave is ripping through Urbit projects with his friends. Be like Dave.
3 projects that I’m clankering out in parallel: - urbit connect: use your ship in non-urbit third party applications while owning your data - urbitwarden: store your passwords encrypted in your ship while being compatible with the bitwarden clients (desktop, mobile, browser extension and cli) - hermes in urbit: the moat is the data so store every interaction with your agent in your ship and reconstruct all your context, memories and skills at any moment

Naturally.
You need to be a self-hosting digital kulac, anon, if you want to protect your alpha in an age of digital collectivization. You need to be Urbit-maxxing. Your data needs to live in your closet. Your only SaaS subscription should be a private LLM inference service.

Release Notes - Native App v9.5.6 Summary This release lets you edit Tlonbot’s system prompts and manage its scheduled tasks from its profile screen, and adds text selection within messages, mute icons on muted channels and groups, and copyable URLs for uploaded files. What's Changed - Adds support for editing Tlonbot's system prompts from its profile screen. Changes apply after a gateway restart. - Adds support for adding, editing, and deleting Tlonbot's scheduled tasks from its profile screen and the app's Settings menu. Changes apply as soon as the task is saved. - Adds a message action to select individual pieces of text from a message, rather than the entire message text. - Adds a mute-bell icon to muted channels and groups, even if there are no unread messages. - Adds the ability to copy the URL of an uploaded file in Chat channels, DMs, Galleries, and Buckets channels. - Fixes an issue where non-hosts were unable to leave Notebook channels. - Fixes an issue where long-pressing a long chat message would show a blank preview. - Fixes an issue where the "Just Me" tab on the Workspaces screen would appear empty for users without Tlonbot capabilities. - Fixes an issue where the Back button improperly stepped through the folder hierarchy in Buckets channels. - Fixes an issue where nested task list items did not properly indent in Notebook channels.
