With @arbitrum soon to launch, and @optimismPBC coming later this summer, there will be much focus on what differentiates the two.
All in all, they're very similar on a UX and security point of view, but one HUGE thing stands out below the surface...
..how they handle MEV 👇
MEV is a huge threat to decentralised applications, and there's hasn't been any good solution on how to mitigate it on layer-1. There will most likely be lots of pressure on @optimismPBC to apply a similar fair sequencing solution as Arbitrum.
Hopefully users will recognise and educate themselves on MEV and why it must be avoided at all cost, and stand up against L2 cash grab solutions, such as what @optimismPBC is on a dangerous path towards.
