Many congratulations to our colleague Dr. Karen Keaveney, Associate Professor of Rural Development, who was part of a very special event yesterday at the Institute of International and European Affairs @iiea Karen shared the stage with former President Mary Robinson who gave the keynote address on 'Women Farmers as Agents of the Change we need in Farming'. This was followed by a panel discussion chaired by Secretary General of the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine and featured Hannah Quinn-Mulligan, Aoife Franklyn, Mary Robinson and Karen Keaveney. Opening with a verse of Eavan Boland's poem 'Our Future Will Become the Past of Other Women', Dr Robinson spoke about the role women across the world play in agricultural - often unseen and unrewarded - but how they are also agents of change for a more sustainable, resilient and equitable farming future. #MnánahÉireann

The rain didn't dampen the spirits of our Master of Public Health and MSc in One Health students last week at the AI in Science Summit 2026 at O'Reilly Hall, UCD. AIS26, coordinated by UCD and Research Ireland, brought together scientists, industry leaders, investors and policymakers to explore the transformative impact of artificial intelligence on scientific discovery and consider how Europe can drive this transformation with a distinctive and responsible approach. Our students, led by UCD SPHPSS Associate Professor Mary Codd, attended the summit to get real insights into this critically important area, in particular with regard to how AI can impact areas such as One Health and open science. Find out more about our Master of Public Health and MSc in One Health programmes at ucd.ie/phpss. #AIS26 #PublicHealth #OneHealth #UCD #AI #AIinScience
