Cancer patients in South Cumbria face gruelling 3-4-hour round trips every day for weeks on end to receive life-saving radiotherapy in Preston.
This awful, unequal access to treatment costs lives.
We need a satellite radiotherapy unit at Westmorland General Hospital.

A great evening at Parr Street Church Kendal, with @timfarron MP and an @APPGNK2024 member. A thoughtful discussion on Christian persecution, political situations & the security challenges posed by NK regime. Also reflected on the freedoms we often take for granted in the West.
On Friday evening it was a privilege to host @Timothycho08 - and hear hugely moving testimony of his escape from persecution and coming to faith in Christ.

Along with 21 fellow volunteers, I completed our 13 mile overnight walk from Kendal to Crooklands (and back) along the canal. We’re raising money for housing need charity, Manna House. We’d love it if you would donate to their life-transforming work: justgiving.com/page/timfarro…
On Friday, I'll be leading a 13-mile overnight sponsored walk to raise money for Manna House - an incredible homeless prevention charity in Kendal who, in these tough financial times, really need our help.
You can support them by sponsoring me here: justgiving.com/page/timfarro…
New fathers in full-time employment can take up to two weeks off work, but they cannot receive statutory paternity leave and pay if they are self-employed.
With one in four people in Westmorland working for themselves, I challenged the Government to support self-employed dads.
1 in 4 homes in Westmorland and Lonsdale were built before 1900.
They are very expensive to heat and difficult to insulate.
I'm urging the Government to come forward with a plan to insulate older properties - which would cut energy bills and keep people warm this winter.
This is wise…
Do we want short term headlines, or do we want to actually make a difference?:

I’m not going to agree with Andy Burnham on everything, but this statement needed to be said by a Prime Minister. After the Conservatives suppressed the truth for years, this took courage.

I think it’s quite likely that there is a growth in the numbers of people becoming Christians and going to church… and also in the numbers of people who could be called Christian Nationalists, and that the two may not be all that related.

Research challenges the notion that the growing visibility of crosses and other symbols reflects a revival of Christianity

Wow. Donald Trump is giving money to Putin’s war machine so he can keep killing innocent Ukrainians and attacking democracies across Europe.
The UK must lead a coalition of the willing that stands up and says no.
Ed won us our best election result since Lloyd George’s day, most polls suggest we’ll hold or even add to those record numbers of MPs….To think we’re helped by this kind of rubbish, you’d need to be smoking the kind of stuff even we aren’t in favour of legalising…

All carers need a break sometimes – and far too many carers don’t get them. This week, my wife Emily and I are taking our first two nights away as just us for over 18 years. When we’re back, I’ll keep fighting to guarantee respite breaks for every carer.
That the antisemitic entryists who have captured the Green Party, are being antisemitic, is no surprise. That the Party Leader skipped this vote and failed to use his authority to argue against them, is an astonishing act of weakness. Real Greens are welcome in the Lib Dems…

Reflecting on the PM’s leader’s speech. It was a cracking piece of oratory. It also included loads of Lib Dem ideas e.g. on social care, Europe and water - this is good news for us as a party and as a country. The task for the Lib Dems is to make sure these are more than words.
Westmorland is made up of so many beautiful villages, towns, rivers, lakes, and fells.
But it is the people who live here that make our communities in Westmorland so special.
It is my absolute joy and privilege to fight for them every day as Westmorland's man in Westminster.

Happy Westmorland Day.
Celebrating the historic county's unique identity and rich history. On this day in 1397, Richard II appointed Ralph Neville as the first Earl of Westmorland.
The county has featured in 22 House of Commons debate titles.
I’m so sorry. CJ is a legend - in Westminster and in Edinburgh. No nonsense, funny, principled. One of the best.
I’ve taken the decision not to stand as Lib Dem candidate in Edinburgh West at the next GE. It has been a fantastic decade. I want to thank @EdwardJDavey for all his support over the years. I’m confident our next chapter will be even more successful and I’m sad I won’t be there.
