42nd run back in 3 years and my 3rd race
fitness coming back nicely, gave it a “full send” today posted a 46:58
very pleased! i tried a 10k on tuesday and did a 49:44 so thought let’s see what happens today
two ankle rolls (July + August) and an SI joint injury last month… can’t stop me 🤣
i see so many people trying to lose weight, they gym like crazy for weeks and then boom, fall off the wagon and that’s it…
…until another reactive behaviour episode happens, and they start it all over again months later
sustainable is the only way, which involves not doing it all the time and being relaxed about it, incorporate it into daily habits and don’t overthink it, weight loss is not a two week “fix” you need to grind out and move on with
the reality is doing anything ALL the time always ends in one thing: hating it
if you had a new Ferrari it’d be fun to drive twice a week for 1 hour. you’d love and savour every drive. if you had to drive it 6 hours a day, every day, in two weeks you’d be hating it and the thrill would be long gone.
so: plan not to hate your new hobby/habbit/goal and you will actually stick with it
it’s so simple it’s difficult 🙂
i don’t wake up at 4am and hit the gym, but…
@bryan_johnson has been messaging me for tips on looking this radiant of an evening at age 35
my biggest tip was just use whatever framework you’re happy with, the end user doesn’t care
finished my first half marathon on the weekend, epic run (my favourite yet) had a great time and surprised myself
have been back running only a few months after 3 years off, injured myself 3 times because my cardio system apparently never forgot all the years of running but my legs did and i started back too harsh
building the foundation back up now and staying focused
imagine telling someone in 20 years that we used to manually write software
the same way we’d now look at someone doing a 50-digit calculation by hand instead of reaching for a calculator
we’re closer to that future than we realise
always amuses me when people say they never have time for stuff
then sit on the sofa for 5 hours every night
this was a fun addition and makes a 'web app' feel more 'native app' with a gesture
and clicking a delete button still exists for the retro folk
couldn't get a match on @tinder? skill issue. fixable.
practice your swipe (to delete) our form fields and by the weekend you'll be deadly.
some days i marvel at the wonders of ai...
and then you see yourself in a mirror selfie with long hair and a dress and it all comes crashing down
if you want to build something truly brilliant, then “it works” does not mean “it’s acceptable”
you can always do better, and there’s a quote i always refer to about going the “extra mile” because the road is “always quiet”
and it’s true - most people can never be bothered, and if you can, you’re ahead of the rest… and everyone else can feel and see it
ugh fine some more pics due to unpopular demand of people that need to get into ridiculously modded classic cars
S3 engine (1.8T 20v) makes 400.4hp to be precise and 460nm torque, ~950kg
if you ever want to zigzag up the road at warp speed while contemplating your survival, you’re welcome to a passenger ride 🤣
what's it called when you just commit claude code output with a view to 'review later' and then later turns into 6 days and you can't even remember what it was anymore
tough one today, 10k race in Wales 🏴🏃🏻♂️
placed 83/275, have only been back running 8 weeks after a good few years off, already rolled my ankle twice, had 2 weeks recovery, so not back long but pressing on
lots more to come 🙌
functionality alone is not what makes a great app, in the same way a great engine does not make a good car
you need to delight the user the moment they step in the car, make them welcome and eager to turn the key
one the engine has started, it needs to drive flawlessly every step of the way
the little details should be so good that they feel invisible, and without them the experience feels dry
watched the solar eclipse roll in this afternoon with the wifey in my beautiful backyard
lots of people turned up in our village to watch, such a stunning view
if you’ve never seen this side of england then you need to change that 🫡
there’s not many cooler customers than ones that just create an account, pay for “pro” and get making the thing they came for - within about 10 minutes.
there’s often a lot of ceremony around buyers and sculpting “funnels” - we forget to respect those that make it easy and appreciate a good product when they see one.
the chef is always cooking
got some very cool shit to share soon, i think i've cracked something really nicely for @funforms
