For right now, with 11 games left in the season, Kevin Sheehan believes Dan Quinn should remain as Commanders HC, and a loss to the 49ers when Washington manned up in the second half shouldn't cost Quinn his job.
What is clear: The Commanders' players have not quit on HC Dan Quinn, Kevin Sheehan says. And that will likely play a role in Washington owner Josh Harris' decision on making an in-season coaching change
The Commanders' play in the 2nd half vs. the 49ers saved Dan Quinn's job for now, Kevin Seheehan says, and that he has been told that "there's not an obvious interim coach that everybody would be able to agree on and feel comfortable with in the building."
"It seems to me that it would be hard to believe that at halftime last night, he wasn't in danger of being fired sometime this week," Kevin Sheehan says about Commanders HC Dan Quinn.
Down 23-3, the Commanders had nothing going on offense against the 49ers. Here are some numbers on the turnaround that put Washington in position to take the lead on its final two drives
It looked like Dan Quinn was as good as gone at halftime with the Commanders down 20-3 and looking listless on offense and inept on defense, Kevin Sheehan says. But then the second half happened...
Jayden Daniels needs to get a lot better and quickly, or he's going to continue to cost the Commanders chances to win games, and also, so he can stop "being a weekly recurring target of ridicule," Kevin Sheehan says of the Washington QB's 4th down mistake
Two games in a row, Jayden Daniels has made mistakes that reveal a "lack of basic situational football awareness that is shocking," Kevin Sheehan says. They are a concern. The Commanders QB must take "certain aspects of his profession, of his job, more seriously."
"You cannot throw the ball out of bounds on 4th-and-2," Kevin Sheehan says about Jayden Daniels' terrible throwaway in the first half of the Commanders' loss to the 49ers. "Basic football situational awareness. Stunning to me how clueless he was last week and was at the end of the play last night."
Even if Dan Quinn wasn't aware it was 4th down, that doesn't take Commanders QB Jayden Daniels "off the hook for lacking the bare minimum level of football situational awareness for the second consecutive week," Kevin Sheehan says
FIeld goal? Dan Quinn appears to have lost track of the downs in the first half of Monday's loss to the 49ers. The Commanders' HC said he didn't lose track of the downs, but Kevin Sheehan isn't exactly buying that explanation

Rooster is deathly worried about Christian McCaffrey and screen game
Christian McCaffrey could cause real problems in the screen game for the Commanders even if they shut down the run game. Washington will have to key in on CMC to ensure he doesn't take over the game.
With a slim margin for error, the Commanders cannot turn the ball over tonight
With a slim margin for error, the Commanders cannot turn the ball over
The Commanders have a slim margin for error against the 49ers tonight. They cannot afford to turn the ball over, and if they do, they MUST get a stop.

A big way the Commanders' defense can play a role in Washington grabbing a key win over the 49ers on MNF? Holding San Francisco in the red zone to field-goal attempts and not TDs
Just like in the win over the Seahawks, the Commanders have to come out +2 in the turnover margin if they want to have a chance to spring a MNF upset over the 49ers tonight.
Commanders need to catch the 49ers looking past them. Isn't Washington due for a little bit of good fortune coming their way tonight on MNF?
Ben Standig doesn't view Dan Quinn as a lame-duck coach because of the weak NFC East
Ben Standig doesn't view Dan Quinn as a lame-duck coach
Despite the Commanders slow start to the season, Ben Standig does not believe Dan Quinn is a lame-duck coach. A big part of that is how weak the NFC East has been to start this season.
