We probably all knew about China’s advances in this area, but I - for one - had not realised that the share coming from the US is no longer any greater than what’s produced in Europe (even excluding U.K.)

We have a 3-year-old goldendoodle, Murphy, and we absolutely love him. However, there are a lot of people who hate doodles. A group of goldendoodle breeders got together to write a new breed standard under a new moniker—the Bearded Retriever. wsj.com/articles/doodle-dogs…

Picard Season 3 is fun! But, wow, they have turned the nostalgia up to 11. I expect a future episode will include Riker playing the trombone.

Russia’s occupation of Ukraine is a mix of incompetence and horrific cruelty. I’m grateful for @anneapplebaum’s reporting to keep the urgency of supporting Ukraine front-of-mind. theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv…

I found dozens of old MiniDV tapes that capture the first few years of our kid’s life that I had completely forgotten about. I’m using a series of decreasingly obsolete cable standards to transfer: Firewire 400 to 800 Firewire 800 to Thunderbolt 2 Thunderbolt 2 to Thunderbolt 3

Oh.
Twitter is enforcing its long-standing API rules. That may result in some apps not working.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Currently it's all major third party clients not some. Also, it is unknown what long standing rules have been broken as no guidance has been provided to any API partner. And as the tweet notes, these rules have not changed. 9to5mac.com/2023/01/17/twi… developer.twitter.com/en/developer-t….

Important @nytimes story about the propane industry’s efforts to undermine the push to “electrify everything”. “The movement to electrify everything is rapidly gaining momentum, and poses a substantial threat to the sustainability of our industry.” nytimes.com/2023/01/11/clima…

Important story from @HirokoTabuchi in the NY Times this morning. A propane trade group is running a multi-million dollar ad campaign to convince people heat pumps are bad and fossil fuels are good. They are paying HGTV influencers who aren't disclosing their funding.

Last night I captured an incredibly difficult shot: ISS transiting the moon, while gently kissing Tycho crater as it flies by at 5 miles per second. That crater is 53 miles wide, so while the station almost looks like it's orbiting the moon it's actually 1000x closer to us.

A small part of why I use @TrainerRoad is listening to CEO Nate Pearson share what it’s like running the business. I am a legacy user, but will happily pay standard rate for a fantastic platform that is the foundation of my training. trainerroad.com/forum/t/lega…
