🥎 OUTSIDE PITCHES: Are you pulling off or holding direction? One of the biggest differences between making contact and making QUALITY contact on an outside pitch is how well a hitter maintains direction through core rotation. When the chest pulls off the ball too early, we often see: ❌ Front shoulder flying open ❌ Loss of posture and plate coverage ❌ Barrel working around the ball instead of through it ❌ Inconsistent contact points Instead, we want hitters to learn how to rotate while maintaining direction toward the outside pitch. ⚡️ Keep the chest connected to the swing instead of pulling away from contact. ⚡️ Allow the barrel to work through the outside contact point (cover the river). ⚡️ Maintain body posture and space so the hands can deliver the barrel efficiently. ⚡️ Understand that rotation doesn’t mean immediately opening everything toward the pull side. ⚡️Allowing hands to work where you want to drive the ball AKA RIGHT CENTER FIELD GAP 🎯 DRILL FOCUS: Contact Turns I’m training Sabrina to FEEL the difference between pulling off the ball and maintaining direction through contact. The goal isn’t to stop her rotation but to control WHEN and HOW she rotates. Her job is to allow her load to align her body with the timing required for the pitch: she loads for a longer period of time to let the ball travel, deeper load = more coil = ability to HOLD HER DIRECTION! Better chest direction ➡️ Better Hand Path ➡️ better batting average 📈 #softball #fastpitch #fastpitchdrills #hitting #hit
