The path to organizing Amazon runs through the workplace.
@randwilson and @olneyrom argue labor needs strong worker committees, an understanding of Amazon’s operational vulnerabilities and a sustained push to win union elections across the company.

Three great candidates running from Somerville. That said, I support Matt McLaughlin for state senate. He’s the most community oriented and will be the best (and most reliable) voice for working people at the state house.

“Labor could establish Amazon Aid Centers in the metro areas where Amazon operates multiple facilities.”
The @moworkerscenter is already experimenting with the idea. @randwilson and @olneyrom make the case for taking that organizing model nationwide.

“Labor needs to keep organizing at Amazon.”
For @randwilson and Peter Olney, that means building workplace committees, finding ways to disrupt operations and combining worker organizing with pressure on Amazon from the outside.

The Teamsters-backed Warehouse Worker Protection Act has now been signed into law in Rhode Island by Gov. Dan McKee, becoming the 7th state nationwide to do so. This legislation prevents companies like Amazon from abusing their workforce by regulating the use and disclosure of warehouse quotas.
The warehouse bill is the latest legislative success for Rhode Island Teamsters — last session, the union successfully got laws passed to enhance school bus safety and ban captive audience meetings.

In 2023, Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien launched a new project to document Teamsters history from 1975 to 1999. These historic interviews — captured for the first time — detail the wins, losses, and challenges the Teamsters faced during a pivotal era. These include the consent decree, the first democratic election of officers, Ron Carey’s presidency, the national freight strike, the 1997 UPS strike, James P. Hoffa’s election, and so much more.

Unions are the ONLY protection working people currently have against AI-related job loss and job degradation
It’s organized labor that has been at the center of large industrial transitions and major technological change throughout history
Our new polling shows that more than 90% of workers favor protections from AI for their jobs and privacy and trust unions to deliver over either political party. Workers are united and ready to fight for an AI future that works for them, not just big tech. aflcio.org/press/releases/ne…
