Dénonçant l'arrogance du pouvoir, RSF exprime sa solidarité avec les manifestants mobilisés toute la nuit et le personnel des médias qui prévoit une grève le 3/11.

#Czechia: after an overnight debate, the ruling majority passed the bill endangering the independence of public media at 4:36 am, in a fast-tracked 1st reading, in total disregard of the opposition and expert opinions. Denouncing the arrogance of power, RSF expresses its solidarity with the protesters mobilised all night and media staff planning a strike on 3 Nov.
#Czechia: RSF calls on MPs to firmly reject the bill to replace licence fees with decreased funding from the state budget, a major threat to the independence of the country’s public media. #Senegal: RSF welcomes Prime Minister Ahmadou Al Aminou Mohamed Lô’s decision to lift the suspension of advertising agreements with media outlets, after more than two years. This is a positive step towards strengthening the press' financial sustainability and must be accompanied by a transparent and equitable allocation of public advertising.

#DRC: in a decision from 19 October, the @csac_rdc threatens to sanction media outlets that give a platform to the FRN or broadcast certain content related to armed groups. RSF warns that these disproportionate restrictions are framed in dangerously vague terms and calls on the regulator to uphold journalists’ right to report on the conflict in the east of the country.
#Israel: A 3rd journalist has had their entry visa denied in the run-up to the legislative elections. @eldiarioes reporter Francesca Cicardi had already secured press accreditation and was given no justification for the refusal. As restrictions grow, RSF is concerned that the authorities are rejecting international reporters' visa applications based on the editorial stance of the media outlets they represent.
