Going forward beyond 2020, we need to presume any election is unfair until proven otherwise by the election processes (before, during and after).
This achieves simplicity, transparency, and fairness as rules change under this presumption. Everyone needs this mindset.
Timelines are everything.
I have the following questions:
1How did Kyle Seraphin know Brian Cole was autistic the day of his arrest? Cole had no documented childhood diagnosis, and his psychiatric evaluation had not yet occurred.
2Why was Seraphin already discussing autism as a possible reason that Cole confessed on December 4, 2025? That exact argument became central to the defense's September 2026 motion to suppress the confession.
3Who actually authored the December 11 FBI whistleblower disclosure? Why does the description in that document "of someone observing Cole hundreds of times over nearly a decade" resemble Seraphin's earlier account of his friend's wife?
4How did Seraphin know a whistleblower disclosure might be coming before the December 11 letter was submitted? On December 9, he publicly suggested that he had additional information he would not discuss yet.
5Why did the whistleblower disclosure contain details already published in the New York Post? Do we know the author is credible? What steps were taken to ensure credibility here?
6Why are Cole's attorneys refusing to produce the underlying psychiatric evaluations?
7Why did Dr. Black characterize Cole's repeated cellphone wiping as deleting “junk files”?
8Why was Steve Baker inside Brian Cole's bedroom examining his personal belongings?
9Why are there discrepancies between Baker's public claims about Cole's discrepancies and how does he explain them?
10How did commentators arrive at the same conclusions before the evidence was made public? The autism diagnosis, bad interrogation, gait discrepancies, and claims of innocence were all made before any of the defense arguments were made and before there was even an official diagnosis.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Brian Cole was publicly described as "autistic-like" by family and neighbors in reports the day of his Dec. 4 2025 arrest. Seraphin attributed his knowledge to a local neighborhood friend.

🚨🚨THE DEMOCRACY FILES, PART 2: WHEN AND HOW TO DECLARE THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ILLEGITIMATE 🚨
Some questioned whether a group of 200 ex-USAID officials could actually pull off their ambitions to rewrite the Constitution.
Here, they describe exactly how it works. They aren't working alone.
The videos all come from Renew to Thrive (R2T) group and associates. Danielle Reiff and Paul Zeitz play key roles within R2T.
R2T sits inside a much, much larger umbrella called United Democracy Alliance (UDA), which is an extremely hush-hush control plane of leaders from major "blocking" NGOs such as 50501 and Indivisible fulfilling various functions. UDA decides when protests get deployed, timelines, how to respond, all that.
R2T's role within UDA is concerned with "the day after tomorrow" - in other words, their function is to conceive what a rewritten American government will look like after the rest of UDA fulfills its purpose. As will be shown, Erica Chenoworth is credited with conceiving UDA in the first place under the Horizons "Big Tent" initiative.
Note here that National Security Leaders for America (NSL4A) is credited for operationalizing UDA. NSL4A is a group of 1,600 ex-military, intelligence, and diplomatic officials. They are led by Rear Admiral Michael E. Smith (Ret). NSL4A also played a key role in the "illegal orders" messaging which targeted Pete Hegseth. Zeitz is also a member of NSL4A.
It must be emphasized that the choice of a military-oriented organization to coordinate NGOs across domestic protests is an interesting one all in itself - especially in an umbrella conceived by a regime change expert like Chenoworth.
You will have a hard time finding any mentions of UDA in the public. They are extremely hush-hush and selective who they talk to.
Mike Smith himself makes a personal appearance in other calls, coordinating Insurrection Act exercises and roleplaying with R2G as one of the participants.
As the audio transcript shows, they have outlined a sequence of "redlines" in which case the federal government should be declared illegitimate. Invoking the Insurrection Act against "peaceful" protesters is one of the most discussed redlines. I will post the illegitimate criteria below, but basically, almost any effective pushback against NGOs is a measure of illegitimacy according to them.
Important to understand:
The audio shows they shopped this idea around governors, but the reality is that governors do not have to explicitly sign on to the pact to play their role in the coup. All they have to do is refuse troops in their state and let UDA / R2G do the work of dissolving the federal government.
dunno why Jake Tapper is standing there on the left, but he really needs a nap
President Zelenskyy’s comment on US Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s remarks that the war in Ukraine is at a "strategic stalemate" and that there are now "no prospects for a negotiated settlement":
"You cannot negotiate future economic projects with Russians on the one hand and, on the other, claim that we are in some kind of diplomatic stalemate. We are not in a diplomatic stalemate.
Shut down Russia’s entire economy. Shut Russia's mouth. Stop feeding them through your sales. Impose sanctions on their weapons.
Open Starlink for Ukraine. You opened it when responding to Iran, after all. Everything worked there. Israel completely controlled the skies over Iran. So when you need it to work, it works.
It costs them nothing to help Ukraine. And I said quite frankly: help us protect our skies and gain dominance there.
Then Putin will sit down at the negotiating table. Why? Because he will lose everything. In two or three months, he will lose everything.
And instead, we are waiting for the Chinese to develop an equivalent and hand it over to Russians.
This is not a stalemate - this is called a lack of will."

Is this the biggest election integrity-related secret in the Intelligence Community?
The FBI was notified no later than 7/1/2022 by the NY Special Investigations Unit (SIU) of the state police.
Then my paper on the subject was published in May of 2023 in Journal of Information Warfare, garnering over 10M impressions in 48 hours on X.
I do not believe the algorithm I found in NY voter rolls, and solved, has been ignored. Enough people know about it to have investigated it. And yet, no word on a possible benign explanation. Without ruling out the possibility one exists, the silence alone is persuading me that there isn't a benign explanation.
Instead, the most obvious explanation, that the algorithm was deployed to covertly tag and track specific voter IDs, not only fits the data very well, and appears more likely based on the total lack of alternative explanations over the past 4 years.
For those who want the details, this is how NY county ID numbers were mapped to state ID numbers (taken from my Substack post):
The Spiral algorithm used in New York’s voter rolls assigns County voter ID (CID) numbers to State Board of Elections ID (SBOEID) numbers. It does this using a deterministic and reversible method. This means that the Spiral is predictable (deterministic) and it is designed to retrieve data of interest (reversible).
After working out a number of methods to reverse what the algorithm does, I have come to the conclusion that the Spiral’s most probable purpose is to create “markers” in the form of a serial ID number that I call the Algorithm ID (AID). These markers are useful in the context of an index, which in this case is the Spiral algorithm.
The Zark Files is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.
Examination of any anomalous digital phenomena can yield insight into what has been done and how it was done. Sometimes, the two can be difficult to differentiate. In an earlier post, I demonstrated a method for determining where each strand of numbers would be cut by the algorithm. The method works but it is not the method used by the algorithm. It was simply a way to figure out the same answer based on different information.
I think I now know how the algorithm does it. The image at the top of this post shows how it is done but here is the explanation:
Determine the range of SBOEID numbers allocated to your county of interest. To do this, the minimum and maximum values are all that are needed.
Subtract the MIN from the MAX and add +1. This is your range.
Create columns for each power of ten, in increasing orders of magnitude starting with “1”. For most counties, this will be 1, 10, 100, 1,000, and 10,000. Add a column labelled “0” for the MIN SBOEID.
Each column is for numbers that belong to the same strand of CID numbers, where each CID is separated from the next by the power of ten value for that column. For instance, CID numbers in the 100 column appear every 100 numbers and will be continuous: 34,675 followed by 34,676 100 rows later, then 34,677 after 200 rows, and so on.
Arrange the columns in the following order:
0
10,000
1,000
100
10
1
Assign Minimum (MIN) values for each column. Each value is based on the MIN value for the entire county plus a modifier. These numbers are consistent in most counties but there is some variety in the 10,000 (and possibly the 100,000) columns.
Column 0: This is the MIN SBOEID for the county, no adjustment
Column 10,000: MIN + 8,333 (75% of 11,111)
Column 1,000: MIN + 833 (75% of 1,111)
Column 100: MIN + 83 (75% of 111)
Column 10: MIN + 9 (75% of 11 rounded up)
Column 1: MIN + 1
Assign Maximum (MAX) values for each column.
Column 0: This column has only one number, the MIN. It has no MAX
Column 10,000: MAX - 2,778 (25% of 11,111)
Column 1,000: MAX - 278 (25% of 1,111)
Column 100: MAX - 28 (25% of 111)
Column 10: MAX - 3 (25% of 11)
Column 1: MAX for county
Now calculate the range for each column. To do this, you must also calculate how many SBOEID numbers fit in each column.
Column 0:
Full range for county -1 (number of SBOEID numbers in Column 0) = Adjusted Range for next column
Column 10,000:
Adjusted range from previous column (0) divided by 11,111, rounded down = number of SBOEID numbers in column 10,000 (10Kn)
Subtract (10Kn) from previous adjusted range. This is the new adjusted range for the next column
Column 1,000:
Adjusted range from previous column (10,000) divided by 1,111, rounded down = number of SBOEID numbers in column 1,000 (1Kn)
Subtract (1Kn) from previous adjusted range. This is the new adjusted range for the next column
Column 100:
Adjusted range from previous column (1,000) divided by 111, rounded down = number of SBOEID numbers in column 100 (111n)
Subtract (111n) from previous adjusted range. This is the new adjusted range for the next column
Column 10:
Adjusted range from previous column (100) divided by 11, rounded down = number of SBOEID numbers in column 10 (11n)
Subtract (11n) from previous adjusted range. This is the new adjusted range for the next column
Column 1:
Adjusted range from previous column (10) divided by 1 = number of SBOEID numbers in column 1 (1n)
Subtract (1n) from previous adjusted range. The product should be zero, indicating that all available SBOEID numbers have been used.
Next, determine Minimum Algorithm ID (AID MIN) and Maximum AID (AID MAX) number for each column
Column 0:
AID MIN=1
AID MAX=1
Column 10,000:
AID MIN= Previous column’s AID MAX +1
AID MAX= Current column’s AID MIN + 10Kn (number of SBOEID numbers allocated for column)
Column 1,000:
AID MIN= Previous column’s AID MAX +1
AID MAX= Current column’s AID MIN + 1Kn (number of SBOEID numbers allocated for column)
Column 100:
AID MIN= Previous column’s AID MAX +1
AID MAX= Current column’s AID MIN + 111n (number of SBOEID numbers allocated for column)
Column 10:
AID MIN= Previous column’s AID MAX +1
AID MAX= Current column’s AID MIN + 11n (number of SBOEID numbers allocated for column)
Column 1:
AID MIN= Previous column’s AID MAX +1
AID MAX= Current column’s AID MIN + 1n (number of SBOEID numbers allocated for column)
The AID MAX for this column should equal the total range for the county
Determine the last AID number (AID LAST) for each column. These are fixed by the algorithm to the following values:
Column 0: 1
Column 10,000: Previous AID MAX +Current column’s AID MIN + 10Kn (number of SBOEID numbers allocated for column)
Column 1,000: 9
Column 100: 83
Column 10: 833
Column 1: 8,333
Determine the first AID number (AID FIRST) for each column. These are fixed by the algorithm to the following values:
Column 0: 1
Column 10,000: Previous AID MAX + 1
Column 1,000: 10
Column 100: 84
Column 10: 834
Column 1: 8,334
Determine value for the first AID number after the CUT (CUT LOW) for each column:
Column 0: 1 (No CUT)
Column 10,000: AID MAX + 1 (No CUT)
Column 1,000: Previous AID MAX +1
Column 100: Previous AID MAX +1
Column 10: Previous AID MAX +1
Column 1: Previous AID MAX +1
The last AID number before CUT L is the same as AID MAX for each column
Determine the position where each column is cut (CUT)
Column 0: 1 (No CUT)
Column 10,000: (No CUT)
Column 1,000:
Subtract previous AID MAX from current AID LAST = CUT Position (CUT POS)
Position CUT L a number of rows above AID LAST equal to CUT POS
CUT H is always immediately before CUT L
Column 100:
Subtract previous AID MAX from current AID LAST = CUT Position (CUT POS)
Position CUT L a number of rows above AID LAST equal to CUT POS
CUT H is always immediately before CUT L
Column 10:
Subtract previous AID MAX from current AID LAST = CUT Position (CUT POS)
Position CUT L a number of rows above AID LAST equal to CUT POS
CUT H is always immediately before CUT L
Column 1:
Subtract previous AID MAX from current AID LAST = CUT Position (CUT POS)
Position CUT L a number of rows above AID LAST equal to CUT POS
CUT H is always immediately before CUT L
Calculate SBOEID numbers for each column
Column 0: MIN
Column 10,000:
FIRST: MIN +8,333 (there is some variability, depending on county size. Sometimes, this value is 2,778)
SBOEID second through seventh: Prev SBOEID +11,111
Exceptions exist in smaller counties. If there is only one value, it is 11,112)
Column 1,000:
FIRST: MIN +833
Second to AID 11: Previous + 1,111
From AID 12 through CUT H:
in groups of 10 consecutive numbers:
First is previous SBOEID + 1,112
Second through ninth are previous SBOEID plus 1,111
First SBOEID after CUT H (CUT L) is REMAINDER, calculated by:
Adjusted range for column 1,000 (AR 1K) - (1,111*1Kn) = REMAINDER
All subsequent numbers are Previous SBOEID + 1,111
Column 100:
FIRST: MIN +83
Second to AID 91: Previous + 111
From AID 92 through CUT H:
in groups of 10 consecutive numbers:
First is previous SBOEID + 112
Second through ninth are previous SBOEID plus 111
First SBOEID after CUT H (CUT L) is REMAINDER, calculated by:
Adjusted range for column 100 (AR 100) - (111*100n) = REMAINDER
All subsequent numbers are Previous SBOEID + 111
Column 10:
FIRST: MIN +83
Second to AID 841: Previous + 11
From AID 842 through CUT H:
in groups of 10 consecutive numbers:
First is previous SBOEID + 12
Second through ninth are previous SBOEID plus 11
First SBOEID after CUT H (CUT L) is REMAINDER, calculated by:
Adjusted range for column 10 (AR 10) - (111*10n) = REMAINDER
All subsequent numbers are Previous SBOEID + 11
Column 1:
FIRST: MIN +1
Second to AID 8,341: Previous + 1
From AID 8,342 through CUT H:
in groups of 10 consecutive numbers:
First is previous SBOEID + 2
Second through ninth are previous SBOEID plus 1
There is no REMAINDER for Column 1
Adjust CID numbers
Depending on the county, there are four known possibilities:
Decimalization:
Decimalize all CID numbers by adding decimal point to left of each CID number
Sort after decimalization in ascending order
Attach sorted CID numbers to SBOEID numbers in AID order
Alphanumerics:
Split Alpha character(s) from numeric component of each CID number
Sort all CID numbers by alpha first, number second
After sort, reposition all alphanumeric CID numbers after all numeric CID numbers, in alpha order
Attach sorted CID numbers to SBOEID numbers in AID order
Combination:
First, decimalize numbers
Then perform Alphanumeric sort
Attach sorted CID numbers to SBOEID numbers in AID order
No modification
Attach sorted CID numbers to SBOEID numbers in AID order
After attaching CID numbers to SBOEID numbers, delete decimal points, if any
That’s it! Kind of makes you wonder why, doesn’t it?

As @R_H_Ebright explained in 2014, more labs = more lab accidents. Nevertheless, we continue to build more and more labs to work with dangerous pathogens without questioning whether they are needed.
Replying to @ashishkjha
Here's the real bottom line:
The number of labs working on dangerous pathogens is growing worldwide
That means incidents like this will happen more often in the months and years ahead

The Dust Bowl was made by expert advice, and the advice was to plough up grazing land and grow crops on it.
School files it under weather. A drought came, the wind got up, Steinbeck wrote a book. Nature did it, and nobody's name is on it.
Plenty of names are on it.
The southern Plains had been grassland since the ice went. Buffalo grass and blue grama, a mat of root that had sat through every drought for thousands of years with 30 million bison standing on it. Rainfall out there runs 10 to 20 inches a year. The first surveyors took one look and wrote Great American Desert across the map, meaning graze it, and leave the plough at home. John Wesley Powell, the explorer who had actually walked the ground and went on to run the US Geological Survey, told Congress as much in 1878 and again, with maps, in 1890. Congress thanked him and carried on.
Then a professor at the University of Nebraska, Samuel Aughey, announced that breaking the sod released moisture and changed the climate. A land promoter called Charles Dana Wilber boiled it down in 1881 to four words: rain follows the plow. The railroads, who had several million acres of desert to sell, reprinted it by the cartload. It was what everyone wanted to hear, it came with charts, and it was science.
Washington joined in. The Enlarged Homestead Act of 1909 handed 320-acre blocks of dry grassland to anyone who would break them. In 1917 the government guaranteed wheat at over $2 a bushel and told farmers wheat would win the war. Then the tractor arrived, and a man who could turn 3 acres a day behind horses could turn 50. Between 1925 and 1930 more than 5 million acres of native grass on the southern Plains went under, in what the locals called the Great Plow-Up. The cattle came off and the wheat went in. When the wheat price collapsed at the end of the decade, farmers ploughed up more grass to make the same money from a lower price, which is the sort of decision a spreadsheet makes.
The rain, having not read Professor Aughey, stopped in 1931.
Wheat has the root system of a doormat. With the grass gone there was nothing holding Kansas down, and Kansas left. In May 1934 it fell on ships 300 miles out in the Atlantic. On 14 April 1935, Black Sunday, a wall of topsoil thousands of feet high rolled across the Plains and turned the afternoon into midnight. Children died of dust pneumonia behind wet sheets nailed over the windows. 100 million acres were damaged and around 2.5 million people packed up and left.
That spring a soil scientist called Hugh Bennett was giving evidence to a Senate committee when the sky over Washington went brown with what had recently been Oklahoma. He got his Soil Conservation Service within weeks.
Then the federal government did something your textbook skips. It bought back more than 11 million acres of the wrecked cropland, put it down to grass again, and put cattle on it. It is still there. They're called the National Grasslands, nearly 4 million acres of them, grazed under permit to this day, and they have not blown anywhere since.
So America has run the experiment at full scale. Take land that only grass will hold, remove the grazing animal, and grow human food crops on it because the experts and the price say so. It took 5 years to plough and 10 to bury a region.
Every few months now a report lands explaining that pasture is wasted land, and that if we only took the cattle off we could grow crops there instead. It has charts. It is science.
Ask them what follows the plough this time.

I have conducted an audit of Anthropic's finances.
What I have found is so shocking that I am calling for a Congressional investigation.
Anthropic is not just seeking regulatory capture.
It has built a regulatory capture machine that cannot be turned off.
Structural financial incentives make it impossible for Anthropic -- I call it the Anthropic Network -- to turn off its own AI doom cycle.
It starts with METR.
Dario Amodei proposes "third-party evaluators" to assess the risk of Anthropic's models.
He proposes METR for this purpose.
But METR is financially dependent on the Anthropic's success -- specifically, on the explosive growth of more than $7 billion dollars in Anthropic stock.
Dustin Moskovitz invested this stock into Good Ventures Foundation, where it represents the majority of that organization's portfolio.
And GVF is the overwhelming funder of the entire Anthropic Network ecosystem.
This stock was worth $500 million early last year.
It is worth more than $7.7 billion just ~16 months later.
METR -- and all of those building a career its parent organizations -- cannot afford to disrupt that growth.
Because if Anthropic goes under, many of the organizations that fund METR go under as well.
But if Anthropic succeeds, METR and its parent organizations become more richly financed to regulate AI -- something those at METR want very much.
The "third-party evaluator" is not "third-party" at all.
The evaluator is on Anthropic's payroll.
If this were the end of it, that's bad.
But that isn't all.
The same organizations that fund METR also fund the many organizations, such as the Tarbell Center, that promote AI Doom.
The Tarbell Center publishes AI Doom articles in The Verge, Science, LA Times, The Dispatch, TIME, and others.
They are selling the problem, and then selling the solution to the problem -- from the same money pile: Anthropic's.
All of these organizations are financially dependent on the same exploding $7 billion money pile.
As Anthropic grows more and more powerful, its AI Doom Machine grows better and better financed -- louder and louder.
Meanwhile, the regulatory regime seeded in METR grows larger to solve the increasingly loud -- now hysterical -- problem of AI Doom that the Anthropic Network itself created.
From this standpoint, as Anthropic becomes more powerful, AI might be getting scarier, sure -- but the positive feedback loop also becomes more deafening -- independent of objective facts.
This itself is an objective fact.
The deafening AI Doom is part of an business model, that, as it expands, so too does the AI Doom messaging -- there is simply more money to do it.
But the problem also goes in the other direction:
If Anthropic dies, the Regulatory Regime and the AI Doom Machine are crippled or die.
Neither METR nor Tarbell nor the other organizations in the Anthropic Network can allow that to happen.
Hence, neither METR or the AI Doom Machine can be trusted to provide independent assessments of Anthropic's models or AI more broadly.
They simply are not organizations independent of Anthropic.
And Anthropic cannot detach itself from METR or Tarbell or countless other safety orgs (not shown here), either, because they drive hype for the models and the possibility of eventual regulatory capture, and Anthropic will not give that up willingly.
What's more, the people at all of these organizations are all the same ecosystem, the same community. They just shuffle between organizations.
The Anthropic Network is therefore, so long as it is successful, locked into a self-amplifying feedback loop inside an ideological monoculture.
And that feedback loop is winning.
That's what Jacob Coxon is.
China is keeping messaging tight. That is why optimism for AI is so high in China.
America has Anthropic: a massive company pushing anti-AI propaganda at a state level.
Anthropic will either create hysteria until American AI slows down and China wins, or it will create fractures throughout American society with severe political consequences.
Ironically, because of the structural financial incentives underpinning the Anthropic Network, it has become the same kind of self-amplifying virus that it fantasizes AI to become in the future -- while hiding its tracks just as carefully.
It is the mirror of the same AI virus that it hypothesizes to consume America.
Anthropic's business model, models itself after the very thing it claims to fear.
Except Anthropic's ideology infects humans, not computers.
Congress must investigate.
Evidence and Github in next post.
Then some supplementary figures.
In journalism and social media, both the Left and Right have too many cheerleaders and not enough thinkers. Learn to discern the difference between those that have nothing insightful to say, and the thinkers that are looking for ways forward.
A word about Lindsay Clancy's supporters, the Left, and the infernal Left-Right dynamic, which will never repair.
The Right will never message effectively, except to other people on the Right, about Lindsay Clancy and her supporters. Thus, the divide and enmity will only deepen.
I don't say this to blame the Right. It is certainly the Left who are in the wrong on this point, but the Left aren't just in the wrong; they're lost in the wrong. They have no hope of seeing it any other way, and I mean that. Only someone outside the Left has any hope of talking about the issue in a way that breaks through. That responsibility mostly falls to the Right, but the Right is only interested in talking to itself about the issue and morally preening for each other.
I've covered this about a thousand times over the last four years, so I don't really expect this to land either, but I feel like someone should say it. The punchline is that as long as the Right keeps talking to itself and morally preening for each other over these kinds of moral issues, this problem will keep getting worse.
The short version of a politer way to get to the point is to say that the Right doesn't understand the Left, so it cannot talk to or about the Left without the Left using it as justification to become worse, and the Right refuses to understand the Left. I don't mean they can't. I mean they won't. They simply refuse. They're too busy preening for each other by moralizing the Left instead. (And, yes, this is part of why I'm going back to using the third person plural (them), where I had been brought toward the first person plural (us), for talking about the Right.)
I'll try to do this in new words since the old words didn't get anywhere no matter how many times I said them. I don't think these will either, but I've got to try.
The Left's primary driver gets discussed a lot. People say envy, and there's no doubt about that being there. They say hatred, and that's prominently there too. They suggest pride, and that's part of the mix. None of these is actually foundational to the way the Left encounters the world, even if they're emotionally primary.
1. The Left sees the world in terms of being trapped in a world not of their choosing and not to their liking.
The envy flows directly from this feeling of being trapped in an unjust world. The world works for some people, just not people like them. Maybe it isn't them personally, but someone they can identify with.
The hatred flows directly from this same feeling, but with an extra piece. They hate the world not for being the way it is but for being kept the way it is. They hate the people who keep the world the way it is. Conservatives and "the Right" are usually tasked with exactly this, so the Left hates the Right.
The pride is connected to this same idea, again with a twist. The Left thinks it is above the world the way it is, and above the people who keep the world the way it is. So, they think they know better and are better. A lot follows from this pride that we would all recognize immediately.
But now we see an opening to the second point.
2. The Left sees the world not as necessarily bad but kept as bad by people who they believe benefit from the world being kept bad.
This means that the Left believes a better world is possible. A better world is a world where they don't feel trapped by a world they don't like, that doesn't suit "people like them" or with whom they identify. It isn't the world itself but people in the world who make the world the way it is. The Left hates those people and the system and society they maintain for themselves.
That is, the Left believes it is trapped by an all-pervasive system that keeps them trapped. The system has economic dimensions, political dimensions, social dimensions, and moral dimensions, all of which it believes are socially constructed and therefore mutable.
The world could be different, they think (often wrongly), but people who benefit from the existing status quo don't want it to be and won't let it. Thus, they suffer, or they see people with whom they identify suffering (in which case they suffer too, "empathy").
With regard to Lindsay Clancy supporters (and rather horrifying super pro-life advocacy), the Left primarily feels trapped in a moral system they believe is wrong and that is arbitrarily upheld by people who don't understand or care how it makes people like them, or those with whom they identify, suffer.
This is why the Right consistently talks about both of these issues incorrectly, effectively morally preening for each other on the issues while failing to make any headway with the Left and driving them to further extremes in (pathological, yes) reactance. The Right moralizes these issues, which is exactly what the Left feels like the trap is constructed out of. Thus, they feel more trapped, and act more like a rabid racoon in a trap.
I insist again in my well-earned pessimism: the Right will not do otherwise. In fact, it will refuse to do otherwise because doing otherwise would be a moral sin in its own moral game. It will refuse on principle to have a different conversation or even to dare to think differently or about the perspective the people they mostly rightly oppose might hold. This is going nowhere, but at least we can understand it, I guess.
3. The Left hates the system that traps them and the people who maintain it or benefit from it.
I know I already technically said this, but it's really important to drive home. Because the Left feels trapped by the system, whether crazy or not for that, they hate the system. They also hate the people who maintain the system. They will do anything against those people, including pushing even harder in the opposite direction of the system and its supporters and thinking it's good to do so.
Until you understand that the Left's entire worldview is constructed on a foundation of feeling like they are trapped in a world they do not like, which is arbitrarily established to the benefit of others who refuse to understand why they feel trapped and to change things so they feel less trapped, you don't understand the Left. (The high-minded here will recognize that they're in the mold of Rousseau, ultimately, thus Leftists.)
4. Moralizing makes it worse, not better, because the "trapped" feeling is made out of being moralized to.
When the Right moralizes about issues like abortion or the support they're giving Lindsay Clancy and the self-recognition they see of themselves in her (mostly in personal terror, by the way), they feel more trapped. They understand that the Right, who doesn't get it already, refuses to try to get it, doesn't want to get it, and wants to impose the exact problem they perceive upon them even harder.
I'm not saying they're right here. They aren't. I think they're insane, in fact, but their insanity is comprehensible and thus potentially curable.
What they see in the Lindsay Clancy situation (or abortion) is the possibility that something like that might come up in their lives and massively derail everything for them. They're terrified of it because they already feel the real stresses of life, particularly in these cases with regard to female fertility and the responsibilities and pressures of motherhood/parenthood. (I'm not saying this is a healthy way to look at it, again; I'm saying they are stuck seeing it this way.)
Therefore, they're terrified that, there, but for the grace of God go they, wherein horrors compound over their lives and ruin literally everything they care about (which isn't always just themselves), and they see and hear the Right saying, "You're God-damned right, you stupid, evil bitch." Say it as nicely as you want, guys. I'm telling you; that's what they hear.
They are telling you, badly, what they feel and what they think. They're telling you they're under pressures which are quite normal but that they don't feel equipped to handle. They feel, perhaps wrongly, though sometimes with strong points, that "the system" out there isn't adequate to catching them if they fall and might even be making the risks worse, perhaps for deeply cynical (and evil) reasons. They're telling you they know they're on the edge and don't have help.
You're telling them you don't care. You're telling them to get it together like you have it together. You're telling them their concerns are all crap and that their fears are expressions of evil and selfishness. You're increasing their (yes, pathological) feeling of being trapped.
They, in response, lash out, act out, exaggerate, scream, and do positively antisocial things in the opposite direction.
5. Psychological reactance is real, even if it's sometimes stupid.
Their reaction is based in a psychological phenomenon called "reactance." Reactance occurs when someone believes they are losing something they already have, particularly a right or a freedom they have and/or feel entitled to.
Leftists do not believe they are entitled to murder their own children, not even in abortion, except in extremely pathological and rare cases (which always make headlines).
Leftists believe they have a right to set the course for their own lives (not to create their own lives) and for that life to be generally good, comfortable, and happy.
They are mostly right and partly wrong about this, of course. They do have a right to set the course for their own lives, mostly. This is what Jefferson famously called the unalienable right of the "pursuit of happiness."
There are contingencies and realities, though, like female fertility and the demands of motherhood/parenthood. That is, there are responsibilities that shape that course. I'm not saying the Left is seeing this issue correctly. I don't think they are, in fact. I think they feel trapped by responsibilities are simply facts of life, not all of which are perfectly "equitable" in every way (e.g., fatherhood and motherhood are different in many ways, not identical, not "equitable").
Further, no one actually has a right to have a good, comfortable, happy life. That's an aspiration, a hope. A lot of people (including most of the young politically active conservatives who are swinging Woke Right for the same reason) get this confused. They think they have a "human right" to a good life, a comfortable life, an affordable life, a happy life, free this, free that, blah, blah, blah. They don't. They have the right to pursue those things mostly unhindered by state interference or the interference of powerful others.
While the Left gets this issue wrong in very important ways, this is where their pathological feeling of being trapped has a real foundation: the moralizing Right arguably does impinge upon their inalienable right to the pursuit of happiness by telling them they have to live their lives in certain ways.
Now, the Right will surely jump on this and morally preen to each other over it because we're literally talking about filicide, killing one's own children. No one actually has a right to filicide, but the Left is so psychotic about it that they're asserting it. That is, this conversation has already gone way off the rails. Preen all you want. You're right, but you've lost the point in seizing the opportunity to lick your own moral feathers.
The psychological underpinning is the same, though. The Left, both when right and wrong about the details, perceives the unjust restriction of an inalienable right, so they are reacting with reactance.
People experiencing reactance will go to extremes to reassert their perceived right (right or wrong about them). They will, for example, assert that they don't just have the right but a more expansive version of the right than they really do. They will act crazy, even physically violent, personally destructively, or incredibly performatively (for clicks?) to reassert this expansion of their perceived right when acting in reactance.
The Right will morally preen for one another at this point and accuse them of being evil and desiring to do evil things, moralizing them further. I'd say it's performative, but honest to God I think they can't not. I think it's part of the psychological constitution of being on the Right to do this, just as much as I think it's part of the psychological constitution on the Left to do the other thing. Either way, it increases the feeling of being trapped, losing "rights," and reactance.
The way we "got here" is many cycles of this playing out over and over and over again between social conservatives on the Right and radical feminists on the Left. My personal belief is that the Right was probably too restrictive in some ways, but the feminist Left's toxic "trapped by reality" worldview was the driver of the problem. In any case, more or less since the 1950s, this cycle has been ratcheting up to where you see what you see with regard to women supporting Lindsay Clancy.
6. Can anything be done about it?
No.
Nothing can be done about this. The Left sees the world this way so deeply now that it's horrifying and batshit insane. The Right cannot help itself, and honestly has very few other options, but to morally preen for each other and moralize at the Left, increasing the problem.
The Right also firmly refuses to understand that the driver of the whole problem is that the Left feels trapped, sometimes in real ways and mostly in now deeply pathological ways. They would feel complicit in immorality to even admit the Left has a perspective that can be described in any terms other than rank evil. (Again, I don't think the Left's perspective is right or even valid, but it what it is and has some valid underpinnings that in theory could be approached and addressed in better ways.)
The Left will believe moralizing reinforces the trap they perceive to be their lives, and the Right will moralize about their reactions to feeling trapped. That's the cycle. That's the dynamic. Welcome to hell. Isn't the dialectic fun?
7. To repeat, the driver of this entire situation is that the Left feels trapped, unjustly by human-constructed systems, in a world that they hate and fear, which they did not choose, and which they believe could be escaped except for the Right.
That is, they're what I call "Sociognostics." Gnostics whose "spiritual" realm of control by a false evil power posing as the fundamental ground of all reality is sociality and society itself.
Until you understand this about them, there is no conversation that starts to unwind this problem and its profound dysfunction and increasing psychosis. There is only more of the dynamic at hand and an ever widening gyre against which the center cannot hold.

The way the Friend-Enemy Distinction works induces psychopathy. The Left as we see it today is in the later, highly developed stages of that psychopathy. Some on the Right are already heading into advanced stages of it too. It eats your mind.
The Friend-Enemy Distinction recognizes three pieces: a sovereign (or legitimate authority, or legitimate authority framework like a theory of oppression), friends (allies), and enemies (existential threats).
The legitimate authority (or framework) declares the enemy. You do not declare the enemy. You submit to the declaration of the enemy. You also do not negotiate the definition of the enemy.
Once declared, friends (allies) are those who fight the enemy. Everyone who doesn't (refusal, neutrality, etc.) is also an enemy. (Astute readers will recognize this as the logic of White Fragility with "racism" declaring enemies, which is also the logic of Maoism.)
Therefore, the Friend-Enemy Distinction puts a person into three psychological relevant states:
1) External locus of control combined with authoritarian submission (to the sovereign or legitimate authority framework);
2) "Splitting," which is a characteristic of Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), where the world is split pathologically into good and evil (friend and enemies);
3) Sadism against the enemy.
That is, adopting the Friend-Enemy Distinction places everyone except the vanguard (who usually gets to declare the enemy) in the position of induced psychopathy with at least three characteristics: external locus of control (unless leadership), splitting, and sadism. Leaders tend to be particularly sadistic, by the way.
Over time, inhabiting this psychopathological state degrades your psychological integrity. That is, you go crazy. You lose the ability to navigate the world properly, or perhaps even for yourself. You become very disordered along those three axes, and related symptoms are likely to emerge.
What you see with the Left today is overwhelmingly late-stage Friend-Enemy Distinction.
It's also, frankly, the Sociognostic condition.

Between 2007 and 2012, scientists drilled deep into Greenland's ice as part of the NEEM project to uncover the climate story of the last interglacial around 125,000 years ago.
What they found puts today's climate panic into perspective.
Back then, Greenland was around 8C warmer than today. Sea levels were 4 to 8 meters higher. Yet the planet didn't collapse and Greenland didn't melt.
There were no tipping points and no mass extinctions.
The planet was far warmer and life flourished.
So when activists claim that 2C of modern warming spells catastrophe, the ice, the data and the history all say otherwise.

Would anyone be kind enough to tell me, briefly, just why MT thinks Mamdani wants to "abolish our system of government".
Thanks in advance.
