Over the past 111 years, Gymkhana has paid a meagre Rs 2.68 lakh in total to the Punjab government as rent. They now claim they should be paying at least Rs 1 crore a year — but that is still far from what the Punjab Assembly thinks its rental value should be.

Trading in Soya Supreme’s parent company has sparked a debate over what substantial shareholders can do after a listing. Danish Elahi sold shares soon after Agro Processors entered the stock exchange. The sales were legal, but investors questioned whether they should. Stock exchange rules require sponsors to retain their holdings for at least 12 months after a listing. Elahi, however, was a substantial shareholder, not an original sponsor. He had invested in 2021 and held roughly 79 million shares before the public offering. His September transactions raised a question: disclosures recorded purchases on September 9, although trading began on September 15. Exchange sources later said the shares came through the public offering, while the disclosure form offered only two market categories. A further sale on September 24 fell within the company's closed period, but the exchange's trading restriction did not cover Elahi as a substantial shareholder. The Securities Act defines insiders more broadly. What does this distinction mean for investors? Read more at: profit.pakistantoday.com.pk/…
