Key insights from @natalieperera1 from the @EduPolicyInst on the disadvantage gap at the @rs_network summer conference: “If we don’t get it right in the early years, we set ourselves up to fail. 45% of the gap at 16 is already evidence aged 5.”

Phew. When the sun is shining this hard but you’ve got a dissertation to write, there really is only one thing to do! 😎

We’ve spruced up our YR playdough area to ensure space for independent playdough making &play. Playdough that is made in this area isn’t perfect and it all ends up being chucked in the same big playdough pot at the end of the day (not good if you like playdough to be beautiful!

This little dandelion head has been causing all sorts of excitement in my class, helping baby birds learn how to build a nest, talking about the importance of leaving flowers unpicked, and of course promoting a love of glorious dandelions! @DandelionAppre1

It’s that time of year again…the time when the class dinosaurs come to life and get up to mischief while we are all at home, asleep in our beds. DINOVEMBER! 🦖🦕 #dinovember #Dinovember2022 #plantingseeds #imagination #eyfs

IT’S FRIDAY!! 🥳 May your weekend be filled with the same sort of joy that a four year old finds in filling their socks up with sand and pretending to be a smurf! 😊😄 Happy Friday folks!

Look inside. You are the magic! Stay authentic, no matter what they say. Stay weird, stay nerdy, stay awkward, stay oversensitive, stay as you are. Let them see your magic! #stayauthentic

I’ve become aware of the weird faces that I pull when using puppets. I asked the children in my class if I usually look this way and apparently I do. “All the time Mrs Parkin, all the time.”

The winter goblin has been busy making sure that the birds are well fed and that the plants are protected from the cold and the frost. I wonder what tales he will bring to the classroom… ❄️ instagram.com/reel/CY4eSWPDM…

1/3It’s been an exciting but sad day today after finding a dead shrew in the YR garden this morning.  Lots of talk about shrew features and facts about what they eat and where they live. Huge curiosity over how the shrew may have died before deciding that ‘he’ needed to be buried

2/3..and so we decided that under the holly bush at the bottom of the garden would be a good spot. It was suggested that we sing 'Twinkle Twinkle Little ⭐️' because "when things die they go up to the ⭐️’s.'  The children wanted to make the shrew something so that he would know…

3/3..that we loved him and so we decorated sticks with wool, placing them on his grave. What caring, curious, brilliant, children! ❤️
A simple puppet story led to some wonderful owl story play involving nests, eggs and a creative use of blocks and baskets for trees. Pigs were even involved “because owls eat meat Mrs Parkin and pigs are meat!” 😊

How wonderful is this beautiful dinosaur house?! Spot the lava coming out of the window and door and the handwritten ‘danger’ sign to warn others that it’s too hot! 🦖 🦕 😍

It’s my first day back in the classroom today and I’m feeling a bit anxious about the continuous Covid cloud hanging over our heads, but at the same time I am so looking forward to seeing the children’s little faces and seeing what they get up to today. Will there be 10 …
