.On a realer note… Baby #2 is loading!! 🤩
Becoming a mother again has made my commitment to public service even more personal. Every decision we make as leaders AND caregivers has the power to shape the world our children inherit, and I am deeply committed to building healthier, safer, and equitable communities for all our babies not just mine.
It’s been a pleasure serving as your favorite nurse legislator during this very special season of my life. Charles, David and I are excited to meet our newest little one this fall!

Today, Brad Lander, rabbis, and other New Yorkers accompanied Palestinian farmers during the olive harvest. For that, they were detained by the Israeli government.
Harvesting olives is not illegal. The occupation is.
I am thankful that Brad has been released. But other New Yorkers remain detained, and they must be released immediately.
The same Israeli government detaining them has committed a horrific genocide against Palestinians, killing more than 74,000 people over the last few years alone.
The detention of these New Yorkers must end. The occupation must end. The genocide must end.
Seeing how my patients’ living conditions directly affected their care was a huge reason I ran for office,” Souffrant Forrest explained.
Head to nurse.com to learn why I, along with other nurses, remain committed to public service.

5 million people kicked off SNAP with another wave of cuts hitting later this month.
On World Food Day, that is Trump’s legacy: enacting the largest cuts to food aid in American History & putting millions of families at risk.
In the richest country in the world, no child should go to bed hungry.
Fund groceries, not ICE. Fund babies, not bombs.

The rumors are true. Coming soon to a neighborhood near you...12,000 2-K seats!
Big news for families! 🎉
Today, the Mayor and Governor announced 10,000 new 2-K seats coming next year, building on the 2,000 seats announced earlier this year. And yes, this includes more seats to AD-57! My team was at the press conference for the announcement, and we’ll keep going to keep fighting to make sure every family gets a seat!
Thunderstorms are coming! Stay safe. ⛈️

More than 100 elected officials have joined me in calling on parking lot and garage owners across New York City: Don’t give ICE a place to operate. Don’t rent to them. Tell them they’re not welcome.
Last week, ICE agents shot Oscar Belgal in the neck in Marble Hill while his 5-year-old son sat in the car. They had been staging nearby in a private parking lot.
Our city laws keep ICE off public property. Now, we’re calling on private property owners to do the same. One garage on Morton Street already removed ICE vehicles after neighbors spoke out. Every owner has that power.
I'm proud to have helped secure funding in this year's budget to provide unaccompanied migrant children with attorneys, but it's outrageous that these vulnerable children are being targeted for removal. The cruelty of the federal administration truly knows no bounds.

I applaud this decision by @NYCComptroller. Unfortunately, my pension and that of 1 million state workers is still invested in Israeli bonds. NYS should have no role in funding the Israeli government's ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people. I urge @NYSComptroller to revisit these morally reprehensible and fiscally irresponsible investments.
BDS WIN: NYC rejects Israel bonds!
After over a year of growing pressure from the Break the Bonds NYC campaign, City Comptroller Mark Levine has finally backed down from his dangerous and irresponsible pledge to reinvest the city pension fund in Israel Bonds. This is a victory for all New Yorkers and a victory for the BDS movement.

The Office of Congresswoman Omar released the following statement:
“This raid by Trump’s DHS is an outrageous abuse of power and an unprecedented escalation in the weaponization of federal law enforcement to target political enemies. For a decade, Donald Trump has relentlessly targeted Congresswoman Ilhan Omar with inflammatory rhetoric, repeatedly putting a target on her back. Now, those attacks have escalated to a pointless federal raid. The Congresswoman has done nothing wrong. No president should be able to use the power of the federal government to intimidate his political enemies.”
