In 23 starts this season, Peter Malnati made only 11 cuts, with three top-25 finishes. Heading into the weekend @WWTChampionship he sits one stroke back of the lead. Malnati entered the week No. 157 in the FedExCup Fall, needing to finish inside the top 100 to earn exempt PGA Tour status for next season. He is currently projected No. 107 heading into the weekend.

After shooting 43 on his first nine Friday, Billy Horschel had essentially no chance to make the cut @WWTChampionship. He shot a second-nine 29 anyway. Horschel, who ranks No. 97 on the FedExCup Fall, will look to carry that momentum into the season's final two events. The season-ending top 100 will earn exempt PGA Tour status for 2027.

After learning of his housemate Austin Hitt's final-round 60 at the @KornFerryTour @AHChampGolf1 in August that moved him to the verge of a PGA Tour card, Ryan Gerard could not have been more excited. Hitt later won @KFTChampionship and will join Gerard on Tour in 2027. Gerard revealed Wednesday that Hitt is TourBound without a car, having recently given it to his brother. “He’s that kind of guy who would just do anything for the people that he cares about,” Gerard said. “He’s truly, truly an awesome human.”

Ben Griffin grew emotional as he watched his @UNCMensGolf teammate and de facto “younger brother” Austin Hitt win last month’s @KFTChampionship in Virginia to earn his first PGA Tour card. Hitt’s dad Chip, who was a standout junior golfer in Virginia, died of cancer two years ago. As the drama unfolded at the Korn Ferry Tour finale, Griffin thought of the Hitt family’s shared dream of Austin earning a PGA Tour card, and of several close calls early in Hitt’s career before breaking through. The emotions remain strong at this week’s @WWTChampionship, as the longtime friends prepare to compete on Tour together in 2027.
