Replying to @paypaldev
sandbox is an awesome feature… I used it a couple of years ago while implementing a client project
super useful!!

I am writing a blog about the @paypaldev and @ag_grid workshop from the PayPal hackathon, where I needed a file from a repo but nothing more.
I discovered the npm package "degit", have you used it before?
No manual file copying. No package.json edits. No credentials pasted into commands.
### 1. npx
Runs an npm package’s command-line tool without installation.
### 2. --yes
Skips npm’s confirmation prompt.
### 3. degit
Runs version 3.10.0 of degit.
degit copies files from a Git repository without bringing along its Git history or .git directory. Pinning the version
keeps the workshop instructions consistent.
### 4. GitHub path
"paypaldev/hackathon-paypal-ag-grid-boilerplate/scripts#d7fca8d6f22b84"
This identifies what to download:
- paypaldev: the GitHub account.
- hackathon-paypal-ag-grid-boilerplate: the repository name.
- /scripts#123 copy only this folder, use the files from this exact Git commit. Future changes to the repository won’t silently change.
### 5. The final scripts
This is the local destination, relative to the directory where you run the command.
Run it from your project root, and the downloaded files go into:
your-project/
└── scripts/
├── package.json
├── seed-paypal.ts
├── lib/
└── seed/
Good developer experience isn’t always a new feature. Sometimes it’s removing the fiddly steps between “I want to try this” and “it works.”
Do you know what a Sandbox is?
In the PayPal Sandbox, you want to:
1. build it
2. test it
3. break it
4. fix it
Then deploy to production.

Every builder has a folder of half finished side projects.
It is almost never a motivation problem. It is a deadline problem.
A side project has no date. Nothing bad happens if you skip a weekend, so you do. Next thing you know the stack you picked is out of date and the momentum is gone.
A hackathon fixes that with one rule: on this date, it has to exist, and other people are going to look at it.
This forces the three decisions that usually take a month:
1. Cut the scope to what you can actually finish.
2. Buy, do not build, the boring parts. Checkout and auth are a sandbox key and an SDK call, not a weekend.
3. Ship something that runs, not something that is architected.
A demo that works beats a perfect plan that never leaves localhost. Every single time.
There might be a hackathon coming soon, what would you build?
