At Budget the @OBR_UK forecast CPI inflation at 3.8% Q1 2027 and 3.6% Q2 2027 (Table 1.7). A week later @bankofengland forecast 4.5% Q1 and 5% Q2. Hmmm.

When this Palestine Action protester was arrested this afternoon outside the Supreme Court, he told the police, “No I’m not willing to walk, I’m not going to help you do your job, I don’t think you’re doing the right thing at all.”👇

Indeed, silence is terrorism in the UK. 🤦‍♂️ The Ban on Palestine Action is an unprecedented assault on free speech.

Huge turnout to remember the incisive, kind and mellifluous Ed Stourton. As he deserved. Much missed.

Carolyn Gelenter, a Holocaust survivor’s daughter, arrested under the Terrorism Act today outside the Supreme Court while protesting for the de-proscription of Palestine Action. She told us why she and many other Jews are risking their freedoms in opposition to the proscription.

Just because I love abuse here is the Table of taxes borne by individuals 2027/28 expanded and with footnotes. And I know directors are individuals but the * footnote is deliberately short and silent on that.

Over the Bank of England's 121,285 days of existence since 1694 the average Bank Rate has been 4.65%. So 4% is still lower than the historic rate. But with inflation predictions of 5% Q2 next year may rise further towards its historic mean.

But he was arrested for the silence - for singing nothing, which is extraordinary. What are the police thinking? They are completely unsuited - and i suspect untrained - to police words, placards, and behaviour.
The guy who was arrested yesterday outside the Palestine Action court case for pausing too long while singing “In the UK it’s illegal to say I support Palestine Action” has predictably been released without charge.

Palestine Action were proscribed on the basis that just 3 of their 385 actions met the legal definition of terrorism, which is less than 1%. And even then, serious property damage isn’t what most people even consider to be terrorism. The Supreme Court should overturn the ban.

Bank of England expects CPI inflation to rise from 3.5% to about 5% by mid-2027 as higher energy prices have their knock-on effects; higher bills could force businesses to increase their prices to cover the cost.
