Wait. So a woman in the military was raped by her commanding officer, because he used his key to sneak into her quarters, and a judge just decided that being raped was "one of her duties" and declared it a workplace accident?????????? Who the fuck is this judge? How does one even come to that conclusion??

Tonight, I’m making Canadian pancakes here in Nuuk, Greenland 🇬🇱 Supporting our Canadian friends and neighbours 🇨🇦 You can actually buy this Canadian pancake mix at a local store here in Nuuk — and as you can see on the price tag, it’s imported directly from Canada. And to make it even more Canadian, I still have some Canadian maple syrup that was sent to me last year. 🍁 Canadian pancakes with Canadian maple syrup tonight!

BREAKING: CNN's fact-checker exposes an AVALANCHE OF LIES from Trump about Canada — and there's a new one almost every day. Donald Trump doesn't just have policy disagreements with Canada. According to CNN's chief fact-checker Daniel Dale, who happens to be Canadian himself, Trump has built his entire trade war narrative on a foundation of demonstrably false claims — and the lies keep coming. Just today, Dale documented, Trump falsely claimed Canada's unemployment rate is "10% and rapidly rising." The actual number: 6.4%, and it's been DECLINING for three straight months. Trump also falsely claimed Canada does "95% of its business with the US." The real figure is 72%. He blamed the entire US-Canada trade deficit on high Canadian agricultural tariffs, despite the fact that roughly 97% of US agricultural exports to Canada are already tariff-free, and the actual deficit stems overwhelmingly from cheap Canadian crude oil imports that benefit American consumers. And that's just today's batch. Dale's running tally over the past 18 months reads like a highlight reel of fabrication. Trump has falsely claimed Canada doesn't buy American agricultural products, when it's actually the world's SECOND-LARGEST buyer of them. He's falsely claimed Canadians support becoming America's 51st state, when polling shows overwhelming opposition. He's falsely claimed Canada is among the world's highest-tariff nations, when World Trade Organization rankings place it near the bottom. He's falsely claimed Canada "essentially doesn't have a military," ignoring that Canadian forces have fought alongside American troops in multiple wars and rank in the upper half of NATO by force size. He's also falsely inflated the US trade deficit with Canada to "$200 billion" (nowhere close), falsely claimed Canada bans American banks (more than a dozen currently operate there), falsely claimed Canada is "constantly surrounded" by Chinese and Russian ships (fiction), and falsely accused former PM Trudeau of using trade tensions to run for reelection — despite Trudeau, quite obviously, not running. This isn't policy disagreement. This is a dispute over the nature of reality! This is a sitting president manufacturing an entire economic conflict with one of America's closest allies using numbers he simply invented, over and over, across nearly two years, with virtually no correction or accountability. When the facts don't support your trade war, apparently the solution is just to make up new facts. Someone needs to tell Trump that the world doesn’t work like that, and it may as well be CNN’s Daniel Dale. Please like and share if you’re sick of Trump’s lies!

People are dying in explosions & accidents across southwestern Ont. linked to invisible toxic gas leaking from long-buried wells. A series of deaths linked to some of the 27,000 legacy gas wells are likely victims of their unseen gases. nationalobserver.com/2026/07…

Thank you Dr. Kavita for sharing this research. I've shared similar findings when Ive had debates with individuals who think more cops = less violence. Sadly, it does not. Politicians who promise more cops more jails bigger jails etc. offer these unsubstantiated solutions and they know exactly what they are doing and who they are catering to. Politics of Fear works every time. Society needs more things to support people and communities in crisis but this isnt it.

Good for #WabKinew stepping up for Canadians, and firefighters from both sides of the border. Absolutely ridiculous that it even needs to be said, but in the world of the "ambulance chaser" I'm glad he said it in a way that should connect.

21 years ago today, Canada became the 4th country in the world, and 1st outside of Europe, to legalize same-sex marriage. The sky didn’t fall. Hell didn’t break loose. Only Canada’s capacity for love and acceptance increased. Now over 30+ countries have followed Canada’s lead.

On Friday, Stan Cho said he "did not stop to ask how it would look to a person in my riding working a double shift." Today we learned it wasn't just $16,000 in hotels. It was nearly $100,000 more in steak dinners, Blue Jays suites and limousines, billed to his riding association, every receipt filed as a "meeting." He never stopped. This is the culture Doug Ford built. A Premier who wanted a $30 million private jet for himself has no standard to hold his ministers to, and they know it. The people funding all of this are working the double shifts Stan Cho only mentions on the way out the door. To everyone who has supported the PC Party with their donation or their vote: you gave them your trust and your money. They spent both on themselves. You deserve better. I hope I can earn your trust to deliver an NDP government that respects taxpayers and makes your life more affordable.
NEW: Donors to the PC Party have funded thousands of dollars in meals, flights and hotel room costs for Willowdale MPP Stan Cho — a former senior minister in Premier Doug Ford’s cabinet who resigned amid a spending scandal at Queen’s Park. Between 2023 and 2026, the MPP billed the office for pricey dinners at steakhouses and lobster restaurants, airline tickets, hotel stays at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier and even the cost of renting a vehicle from a limousine company. globalnews.ca/news/11972137/… #onpoli

🇨🇦On September 11th, 2001, Operation Yellow Ribbon was launched. Canada safely grounded over 200 diverted airplanes at 17 airports across the country, temporarily taking in more than 33,000 stranded passengers. We never sent a bill or enacted tariffs... We gave you, Canada.👇

Today’s announcement shows what this federal government will protect above all else: the profits of Big Oil. As we mark the five-year anniversary of a heat dome that killed 619 people in British Columbia – and as many communities across the country are facing extreme weather right now – Canadians deserve leadership that protects us. Instead, this government is doubling down on yesterday’s failed solutions and dragging us into further danger, risk and insecurity. The opaque and confusing public-private partnership ownership structure means it's very likely that we, the public, will not only bear the risks and the damages, but also the lion's share of the costs. Canada’s New Democrats unequivocally oppose this pipeline proposal. If anything, this is a pipeline to the courts. It ignores the federal government’s legal responsibility to meaningfully consult Indigenous nations, including Treaty 8 nations in Alberta, threatens endangered species, and accelerates climate change. It will sow the very divisions the Prime Minister claims he wants to avoid. We do not achieve unity or prosperity from projects that pit communities against one another, all while a handful of oil and gas CEOs walk away with enormous profits. While we're stuck fighting yesterday's battles over pipelines, and the Prime Minister openly admits that our emissions will rise, the rest of the world is racing ahead on renewables. We cannot afford to fall behind while other countries build the industries of the future. Canadians deserve better than being told our only choice is another fight over another pipeline. This country needs an alternative to the Liberal-Conservative consensus that is doubling down on a future of climate-wrecking corporate welfare. New Democrats are ready to build something bigger, safer, and better – a Canada that is a renewable energy superpower, with an east-west clean electricity grid and good green jobs in every region. Lower costs for families with home retrofits and heat pumps for all. Investing in the care economy as a nation-building project. That’s what it looks like to build big things that actually unite this country.

NEW: From NDP Leader Avi Lewis about Billy Bishop airport: “The choice facing the Prime Minister is clear. Premier Ford is in the middle of a land grab and the federal government has both the power and the responsibility to stop this irresponsible and anti-democratic move.”

We spent the time we had in the legislature fighting to lower costs and put money back in people's pocket. We pushed to scrap taxes on all groceries. We pushed to ban AI-driven surveillance pricing. We pushed to stop big grocery chains from using anti-competitive loopholes that keep cheaper stores out of your neighbourhood. Doug Ford’s government voted it all down. Instead, they spent their time on private jets, hiding records, luxury projects, and selling off Toronto’s waterfront to Wall Street. That's the cost of their corruption. It gets in the way of making life more affordable for people. I won’t stop fighting
A 102-day summer vacation after sitting for only 29 days this year. If you were trying to avoid questions about your own corruption, this is what you'd do.

The Liberals' AI strategy proposes massive expansion of AI with no concern for the consequences it will have on workers, youth, privacy, and our water and energy supply. The NDP is calling for a humans-first AI strategy that protects Canadian jobs, data and natural resources.

He fired his own caucus chair for raising concerns about the $30M jet. While families struggled with grocery bills and hospital wait times, the Premier has spent the last 10 weeks managing his own scandals. He works for the big billionaires of America. Not you.

The Permanent People's Tribunal concluded that Canada's ongoing policies amount to genocide against Indigenous peoples. The judge noted the primary driver of these policies is Canada's acts to seize Indigenous lands, territories and resources. The Federal Government is releasing their AI strategy this week - without the Free, Prior and Informed Consent of impacted Indigenous Nations. I joined the Natural Resources Committee this morning to ask how they plan on protecting Indigenous communities' right to access energy from profit-seeking mega-tech companies. Contrary to what this Liberal government seems to think - Free, Prior and Informed Consent is not optional. It is an obligation affirmed in the Constitution Act of 1982 and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

Torontonians aren’t asking for a runway on the lake so Bay Street CEOs can land their private jets. They’re asking for better health care, smaller class sizes, and safer highways in Northern Ontario. Those are the priorities that matter.
