In this difficult and unflinching conversation, Palestine Deep Dive's Jehan Alfarra and Ahmed Alnaouq are joined by Francesca Albanese, UN Special Rapporteur on the occupied Palestinian territories, and Eyal Weizman, founder of Forensic Architecture, to examine the destruction of Gaza, the silencing of Palestinian journalists, and the growing struggle to hold those responsible to account.
Francesca Albanese discusses her report A Truth Under the Rubble, exploring the targeting of Palestinian journalists, the suppression of information, and the role of international media in shaping narratives about Israel’s war on Gaza. She explains why the destruction of evidence, the killing of witnesses, and the removal of physical traces raise profound questions about accountability and the international community’s obligations.
Eyal Weizman, author of Ungrounding: The Architecture of Genocide, examines how the transformation of Gaza’s landscape threatens not only physical evidence but also Palestinian memory, identity, and the possibility of return. Through the work of Forensic Architecture, he explores how satellite imagery, witness testimony, and the built environment can help reconstruct what has happened, even as the landscape itself is being erased.
The conversation also tackles the International Court of Justice (ICJ), the International Criminal Court (ICC), US sanctions against international justice officials, arms transfers, and the responsibilities of governments under international law and the Genocide Convention.

"We Palestinians Are Fragmented by Design"
On this episode of Palestine Deep Dive, Ahmed Alnaouq and Hala Hanin speak to two Palestinian theatre makers about making art under occupation and amidst the destruction of Gaza.
Emile Saba, Artistic Director of ASHTAR Theatre in Ramallah, has worked on productions including Guernica: Gaza. His latest play, 2077 WHO WANTS TO SURVIVE, is being performed in London as part of the PalArt Festival this weekend.
Yasmin Shalaldeh, an actor, creative producer and educator from Jerusalem, has performed with the Palestinian National Theatre, The Freedom Theatre, Al Kasaba and ASHTAR. She is also the founder of Nuwa, a new home for independent artists in Palestine. She joins us from London, where she is performing in El-Manshiyyeh with El-Hakawati at the PalArt Festival.

UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham has rejected calls for an independent public inquiry into Britain’s involvement in Israel’s military operations in Gaza, following a request from former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.
Corbyn called for a full, public investigation into UK military, political and economic cooperation with Israel since October 2023. He argues that the inquiry is needed to establish accountability and transparency over Britain’s actions.
However, the British government maintains that existing parliamentary debates, ministerial statements and committee investigations provide sufficient scrutiny.
Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur on the occupied Palestinian territory, weighs in on the Zionism is Racism motion which was adopted by the Green Party of England and Wales in recent weeks.
The motion defines Zionism as racism and backs a single democratic Palestinian state across historic Palestine, with equal rights for all. Andy Burnham condemned the motion as “wrong” and “antisemitic”, ruling out a political partnership with the Greens while the policy remains in place.
Speaking to Palestine Deep Dive’s Ahmed Alnaouq and Jehan Alfarra, Albanese praised the Green Party for taking a stand in support of Palestinians, arguing that conflation of antisemitism and anti-Zionism was “dangerous”.

Former Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has urged the international community to maintain its solidarity with Palestinians, warning against indifference and becoming desensitised to the killing, forced displacement and immense suffering of Palestinian families amid Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza.
In a video appeal published by the Spanish-language account of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) on Sunday, Guardiola called on people to remember the human lives behind the death toll.
“They are not collateral damage,” he said.
The Metropolitan Police will take no further action against journalist and author Sarah Helm over a social media post expressing support for Palestine and Palestine Action.
The decision follows an initial assessment by specialist officers after Helm, who is married to the UK’s national security adviser Jonathan Powell, made remarks against the backdrop of Irish novelist Sally Rooney’s books being pulled from shelves in the UK due to her support for the, direct-action group.
Writing on X on Thursday, Helm said: “God help us authors who support Palestine and Palestine Action.”
Rooney’s publisher, Faber, said UK earnings from the author’s books could not be passed on to her because of legal restrictions connected to her intention to donate royalties to Palestine Action, which was proscribed in the UK in July 2025 under the Terrorism Act 2000.
The Metropolitan Police subsequently confirmed that the post had been reviewed. In an update on Saturday, a spokesperson said officers had concluded that it did not meet the criminal threshold and that no further action would be taken.
The ban of Palestine Action makes membership of the organisation and certain forms of support criminal offences, punishable by up to 14 years in prison. The legislation has prompted a wave of protests and mass arrests, including demonstrations in which participants have displayed placards declaring support for Palestine Action.
The ban is also facing a legal challenge, with an appeal against the proscription expected to bring renewed scrutiny of the government’s decision and its implications for protest rights and freedom of expression.
This latest episode highlights what critics regard as a fundamental problem with the legislation: the potential for expressions of support, particularly those linked to Palestine and opposition to Israel’s military actions, to attract the attention of counterterrorism authorities.
Speak Up for Palestine, Feel the Pressure
In this episode of Palestine Deep Dive, we sit down with Humza Yousaf, former First Minister of Scotland, for a deeply personal conversation about his latest book “Under Fire: My Family's Escape from Gaza and The Cost of Leadership”.
Yousaf opens up about the experience of watching his Palestinian in-laws become trapped in Gaza during Israel’s assault, despite his position as Scotland’s First Minister and his efforts to secure their evacuation.
The conversation touches on Gaza, Palestine, British politics, racism, and the limits of political power.

Ahmed Alnaouq and Hala Hanina are joined by two leading voices at the centre of the Palestine solidarity movement: BDS co-founder Omar Barghouti and incoming director of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign Aimee Shalan.
At a moment when the movement is asking itself some of its hardest questions, we look back at what solidarity with Palestine has achieved, where it has fallen short and what comes next.

Green Party members in Brighton voted to adopt a motion declaring Zionism a form of racism and calling for Palestinian liberation and a single democratic state with justice and equality for all. It is the first mainstream UK party to take that position.
But in almost all of the coverage that followed, one group has been strikingly absent from the conversation: Palestinians.
At Palestine Deep Dive, we host a roundtable of Palestinians to discuss the ideology that has shaped every part of their lives. We ask: What is Zionism? And why do we believe it to be racist?
Ahmed Alnaouq speaks to Hala Hanina, Shahd Hammouri and Hazem Jamjoum in a wide-ranging conversation about the history, ideology and politics surrounding Palestine; from the Balfour Declaration to Gaza and from Christian Zionism to British politics.

“Conflation, Conflation, Conflation.”
On this episode of Palestine Deep Dive, we sit down with Nadia Sawalha, former Loose Women presenter, and her husband Mark Adderley, filmmaker and Green Party councillor, to discuss the price of speaking out, the power of the media, and the growing culture of fear surrounding Palestine in Britain. We also discuss the Green Party’s “Zionism is Racism” motion.
Nadia is pursuing legal action against ITV via the European Legal Support Centre (ELSC), alleging discrimination and harassment linked to her anti-Zionist beliefs. Mark has fought his own battles, winning a defamation case against the Daily Mail over articles about him, and facing suspension from the Green Party before his reinstatement.
