The Nebraska State Patrol is investigating a homicide that occurred in rural Polk County Friday morning, which resulted in a pursuit and trooper-involved shooting near David City.
Here’s an update from the scene from Lt Col Scott. No troopers or officers were injured. The suspect is deceased.
These investigations are still in the early stages. Our hearts are with the homicide victim’s family after this horrible crime, the communities that will be affected, and our Troopers who had to take action to stop the threat to themselves and the public.
Troopers are on scene of an active investigation near 37 Rd and O Rd in Butler County.
There is no threat to the public.
Additional updates will be provided when possible. This is an ongoing investigation.

Thanks to @NEStatePatrol for hosting post-crash investigation training. Troopers and inspectors from across the U.S. joined for training on CMV inspections. Post-crash inspections help determine if mechanical failures or safety issues with a CMV or driver contributed to a crash.

NSP Carrier Enforcement Troopers found additional roadway safety issues after stopping a semi for a flat tire at the Waverly weigh station.
The driver was also cited for open alcohol container and possession of marijuana.
Excellent teamwork by numerous agencies to ensure a safe visit to North Platte for the Vice President. The NSP Aviation Unit had a quick moment for a pic with the VP vehicles.
And kudos to the EMTs for their quick response when someone in the crowd had a medical issue.
