Our Week of Service at the Cornell Cooperative Extension Suffolk County Farm & Education Center in Yaphank brought employees and farm staff together for a day of meaningful impact and community partnership. Volunteers completed several long-needed projects, including repairing and painting animal enclosure fences, improving drainage, and leveling animal pens, enhancing the farm’s ability to care for its animals and welcome thousands of visitors each year.
The effort was supported by our donation of project materials and the dedication of Farm staff.
The improvements made during the day will benefit the Farm for years to come, strengthening its educational mission and visitor experience. The event also marked the sixth anniversary of our Grid for Good program, highlighting our ongoing commitment to giving back to Long Island communities.
Last week, more than 1,000 students joined this year's GLOW With Your Hands event in Batavia, NY, to explore STEM careers and get a firsthand look at opportunities in the skilled trades and technical fields. Through hands-on experiences and conversations with professionals from several companies, including ours, students learned about the skills, tools and education required to pursue a variety of careers.
On Hunger Action Day, our team joined the Greater Boston Food Bank as part of our Week of Service, helping pack grocery bags for seniors across the region. Together, we handled more than 8,000 pounds of food and helped make 6,960 meals possible.
We also partnered with the Greater Boston Food Bank to share multilingual information about gas meter changes, helping connect customers with important resources.
Thank you for having us, and thank you to the Greater Boston Food Bank for all you do to support our communities every day. 💙@Gr8BosFoodBank
Sometimes the best career advice is simply seeing the job for yourself.
More than 1,000 students from 24 schools across New York joined us in Albany for our Career Pathway Expo, where they connected with employees from more than 20 National Grid departments, explored hands-on demonstrations, and learned about the many careers that help power our communities.
From engineering and operations to technology and emergency response, students had the opportunity to see firsthand how different skills and interests can lead to meaningful careers in the energy industry.
A special thank you to the more than 100 employee volunteers who shared their time, experiences, and expertise to help inspire the next generation of talent.
Last week, we joined @BrGround to celebrate the opening of Sutphin Senior Residence in Jamaica, Queens, a new affordable and supportive housing development that will provide 173 homes for local seniors. Through our Cinderella Grant program, we helped bring this project to life.🏠💙
As part of our Week of Service, dozens of employees rolled up their sleeves today to support a local farm that's helping feed Long Island. At Crossroads Farm in Malverne, 30 volunteers spent the day harvesting fresh vegetables and planting crops for the fall season.
The organic community farm supplies produce to local restaurants and healthcare facilities while also providing educational programs for the community. We were there as volunteers helped strengthen a homegrown effort to bring fresh, local food to Long Island families.
When schools use less energy, they can focus more resources where they belong: on students and educators.
Through our partnership with @MassSave, we're helping schools across Massachusetts lower energy use, improve comfort, and make every energy dollar go further. So far in 2026, we've supported energy upgrades at 55 schools across the state.
One example is @QuincyPS’ Lincoln Hancock Elementary School, where a pool heat pump project, building management system, and LED lighting upgrades are helping save more than $64,000 annually in electric utility costs, while improving efficiency and supporting the school’s long-term energy goals.

When severe weather hits, technology can make a big difference.
During this weekend's storm, FLISR (Fault Location, Isolation and Service Restoration) automatically restored power to more than 12,000 customers in less than a minute. By automatically isolating outages and rerouting power around damaged equipment when possible, FLISR helps restore service faster and reduce the impact of outages.
While crews worked to repair storm damage, this technology helped keep the lights on for thousands of customers across Massachusetts.
FLISR is one example of how investments in the delivery portion of customers' bills help support grid modernization, improve reliability, and strengthen the electric system against increasingly severe weather. Learn more about FLISR: gridview.ngrid.com/4dhBKFc

A big thank you to @Syracuse1848 and mayor Sharon Owens for joining us during our Day of Service and for the kind words.
When our employees step away from their usual roles to volunteer across the community, it's another way we show up for the people and neighborhoods we serve. Whether it's restoring energy, supporting local organizations, or lending a hand where it's needed most, we're committed to being part of the communities we call home. 💙
To stay connected during storms and outages, text to 64743 using any of the below commands:
-REG to sign up for text alerts
-OUT to report an outage
-STAT to check on the status of your outage
Using a generator during an outage?
Never operate a generator indoors, in a garage, basement, or near windows and doors. Generators can produce carbon monoxide, an odorless gas that can be deadly.
Always follow the manufacturer's instructions and place generators in a well-ventilated outdoor location.
Our crews continue working around the clock to restore customers impacted by the nor'easter in Massachusetts.
Take a look at today’s interview with @WCVB and our VP of New England Electric, Shaun Vacher to hear the latest updates.
As of this morning, approximately 70,000 customers had been restored since the start of the storm. About 11% of those restorations, nearly 8,000 customers, were restored within minutes thanks to Fault Location, Isolation, and Service Restoration (FLISR) technology. This automated system can detect outages, isolate damaged sections of the electric system and reroute power to customers when possible. By restoring some customers within moments of an outage, FLISR allows crews to remain focused on repairing storm damage and restoring service to affected areas.
⚠️🚗 Please drive carefully and use caution near any crews working to restore power. To help protect everyone on the road and in the field, keep your distance from active work zones.
Overnight, the nor’easter continued to bring heavy rain and strong winds across Massachusetts, with some communities experiencing wind gusts of more than 60 mph.
Since the start of the storm, our crews have restored power to nearly 70,000 customers and continue working to restore service to those still impacted.
Rain and gusty conditions are expected to continue throughout the day, with strong winds persisting into Monday. Please use caution around fallen trees, storm debris, and any downed wires. Always assume downed wires are energized, stay far away, and report them immediately to 911 or us at 1-800-465-1212.
Our crews will continue restoration efforts as conditions safely allow.
Stay safe, Massachusetts.
⚠️ As heavy rain continues, be alert for flooded roads, standing water, and hidden hazards.
Water can conduct electricity. Never approach a downed wire in a flooded area or attempt to drive through water where electrical equipment may be present.
Stay safe, Massachusetts. Our crews will continue restoration efforts as conditions safely allow.
As our crews continue responding to storm damage across Massachusetts, make sure you're prepared to receive updates if an outage affects your area.
Sign up for outage text alerts and receive updates directly on your phone if an outage occurs. Text REG to 64743 to enroll. (You'll need your 10-digit National Grid account number.)
You can also track outages and estimated restoration times through Outage Central at ngrid.com/outage.
Our crews continue working around the clock to restore customers impacted by the coastal storm.
In this interview with @WCVB, Shaun Vacher shares the latest on restoration efforts across Massachusetts.
At the time of the interview, more than 16,000 customers had already been restored, while crews continue responding to damage in hard-hit areas including Wrentham and Franklin.
In Wrentham, more than a quarter of affected customers were restored immediately thanks to FLISR, an automated system that can detect outages, isolate the damaged section of the electric system, and reroute power to customers when possible. That allowed some customers to get their lights back on within moments of losing power while crews focused on repairing storm damage.
