The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers have proposed new definitions that could change which wetlands qualify as “waters of the United States” under the Clean Water Act. While groundwater itself is not included as a WOTUS, changes to federal wetland protections could shift more responsibility to individual states, potentially creating varying regulations across the country. NGWA will continue to monitor the rulemaking process and keep members informed as it moves forward. Learn more: ngwa.org/detail/news/2026/10… #Groundwater #NGWA #WOTUS #WaterPolicy #Wetlands
