Food truck? Festival? Roadside pop-up? Before you order, know before you go. Food vendors are required to be permitted and must meet food-safety requirements designed to help protect you from foodborne illness. Before buying food: 👀 Look for the required permit or other public health information. 🍴 Pay attention to how food is being handled. ❓ If something doesn’t look right, ask questions. 📞 When in doubt, contact your local health department. It takes just a moment to look before you buy. And the public health professionals working behind the scenes to help keep food safe are one more example of how NC Public Health works everywhere, every day, for everybody.

CDC has released a Health Alert Notice highlighting a higher risk of severe mosquito-borne disease among patients using B cell-depleting or B cell-modulating medications. One North Carolina adult has died this year after contracting West Nile virus while receiving B cell–depleting medications. This outcome is sadly not uncommon, as older adults and those with underlying health conditions are more vulnerable to severe and fatal West Nile virus. Learn more ➡️ cdc.gov/han/php/notices/han0…
