Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote has confirmed his firm acquired a 25% stake in Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC), according to a Bloomberg Terminal report on October 21, 2026.
Speaking at an event in London, Dangote said the investment would support the distribution of petroleum products.
The announcement identifies the buyer behind Monday’s KSh 42.5 Bn block trade involving 4.5 Bn shares, equivalent to 24.76% of KPC.
President William Ruto had confirmed the shares were acquired from public entities. Business Daily reported at least eight parastatals participated in the sale.
Major post-IPO public investors included NSSF, UFAA and State-backed pension schemes. The individual sellers and Dangote’s acquiring legal entity remain undisclosed.
President William Ruto says private investors acquired 25% of Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) from public entities in Monday's KSh 42.5 Bn block trade involving 4.5 Bn shares, equivalent to 24.76% of the company.
Attention now turns to major public shareholders, particularly NSSF (22.2%) and the Unclaimed Financial Assets Authority (UFAA), which held 3.06%. Their combined post-IPO stake of 25.26% was sufficient to cover the transaction.
The Government of Kenya retained 35%, while Uganda National Oil Company held 20.15%. However, Ruto did not identify the selling institutions or private buyers.
No evidence has emerged confirming whether NSSF, UFAA or other public shareholders sold their stakes.

True leadership is not measured only by what we accumulate, but by the lives we transform, the opportunities we create, and the people we empower to succeed.

This answers your questions about how I met @KagutaMuseveni at just 10 years old and how his support helped shape who I am today. I believe I’m a State House success story! When it came to education, I never played games. 😂
Thank you, @StateHouseUg, @KagutaMuseveni and @JanetMuseveni, for supporting our family after we lost our parents.
We met again in February, and he directed that I meet him again. But I understand he’s a very busy man, and getting that opportunity hasn’t been easy. I remain grateful for the support that helped shape my journey.

Thanks. However, for the last two hours, we didn't have power. Our Transformer blew and was replaced, but it also encountered the same issue which has not been fixed to date. It takes long for @UEDCLTD team to respond, we have been faced with a challenge of low/ high voltage.

I particularly thank the CDF and his commanders for fighting corruption in the army and improving the welfare of our soldiers. I am following the improvements in barracks and pay, but the fight against corruption is especially important because it directly affects the welfare of our men and women in uniform.
To the new officers, remain disciplined, stay close to the people and serve Uganda with honour.
I am deeply saddened by the passing of Geoffrey Onegi Obel (RIP) at Shah Hospital, Nairobi. My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and all whose lives he touched. May his soul rest in eternal peace.

Uganda must urgently establish a National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) as a cornerstone of universal healthcare, social protection and economic transformation.
As Uganda advances into lower middle income status, our healthcare financing system must reflect this economic progress. Non communicable diseases, including cancer, diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular and kidney diseases, are increasing, imposing enormous financial burdens on families.
Across East Africa, Rwanda, Kenya and Tanzania have established national health insurance frameworks. Uganda must not lag behind.
A sustainable, affordable and inclusive insurance scheme, combining contributions from employers, employees and government subsidies for vulnerable citizens, would reduce catastrophic medical expenditure, strengthen healthcare infrastructure, improve early diagnosis and guarantee access to essential treatment.
Economic growth must translate into improved quality of life, longer life expectancy and financial protection against illness.
A healthy population is the foundation of national productivity, prosperity and sustainable development.
Healthcare is not a privilege for the wealthy; it is a national development imperative.
Health security is economic security and national security!
