Can you tell this isn't a native Mac app? It's Avalonia. I spent a few days seeing how close I could get to a SwiftUI macOS feel, and I think it's pretty damn close. Mac users, I'd love your honest verdict. memry.plus/

The anticipation of knowing what’s coming, but not being able to talk about it, isn’t a feeling I’m used to. We’ve typically shared stuff early. That’s not the case anymore. Things are secretly cooking over here, and the kitchen smells gooooooood.

Dealing with emails would feel a lot more rewarding if people didn’t respond 😂 The number never seems to go down.

The current results are interesting. A lot of folks seem unaware of the CRA, and its impact.

The dotnet subreddit is truly a joke. The mods don’t respond to repeated attempts to clarify this. The last few weeks have seen countless self-promoted posts remain up. I posted our 12.1 release, and naturally, it’s removed. There is zero consistency in their moderation.

Our Avalonia 12.0 post as also removed as self promotion. Ultimately it’s their space to moderate, but it should be consistent. The obvious inconsistency in who is allowed to self-promote is the reason I’d like some clarification.

I just picked up my new car! A classic, 1970s Fiat 500. The perfect ride for driving around the tiny Italian streets.

Hey @MaximRouiller, I’ve been trying to get clarification from the mods on /dotnet, but I’m getting radio silence. Have the rules changed on self-promotion? I ask because the Avalonia v12 post was removed, but I’m seeing a ton of other promotional material that remains up.

Woke up to the news that Claude Fable has been removed, so I decided to go outside.

Avalonia 12 support was added to Mapsui 5.1.0-beta.7 🎉We had quite some requests for this. Can I have some cheers from the Avalonia community? Release notes: github.com/Mapsui/Mapsui/rel… @AvaloniaUI @MikeCodesDotNET

We’ve also made our Visual Studio Code extension free. No account required, just download, install and start building!
1007 days since we released Avalonia 11. Avalonia 12.0 is available NuGet now! Our mantra has been: PERFORMANCE, PERFORMANCE, PERFORMANCE! avaloniaui.net/blog/avalonia…

The particular 'contributor' has been vibe-coding slop knockoffs of our products, and is now complaining that we won't share our roadmap with him... There's a limited market for vibe-coded slop alternatives. Customers ultimately want quality and stability.
I'm so done with OSS. I do a refactoring to fix perf, it has a bug due to a typo. Bug is reported and a huge AI-slop PR arrives. I push one-line fix for the typo. Fast forward a month, the vibe-coder complains that his PR isn't getting traction and accuses for copying his AI fix.

To be clear. @kekekeks isn't the contributor throwing our slop. He's on the receiving end of it.

Huge kudos to Tim and Javier, whose work made this happen. Supporting the broader .NET ecosystem through initiatives like this is a great example of what we’re building Avalonia to do. A stronger ecosystem benefits everyone.

It was a really interesting conversation! At some point I’ll share more about why I think the term ‘native’ is meaningless 😬

I wanted to see how difficult it would be to update MonoDevelop to use Avalonia. Turns out, it's easier than I imagined! Hugely boosted by using @Actipro, NetCoreDbg, and the existing code we've written for Accelerate.

I've been building an AI chess coach using @AvaloniaUI, powered by @OpenRouter. I can swap between different LLMs for gameplay and coaching advice, and it's already helping me improve!

This was a ton of fun. I spent more time tweaking the banner animation than anything else! It's wild how productive you can be when you lean into the tools available today.
Our CEO 'built' a stunning Avalonia app, between emails, meetings and other boring tasks. He used Claude Code, Stitch and the Avalonia DevTools MCP server to build something that looks 10x better than the existing samples. Here's how: avaloniaui.net/blog/accelera…
