A poem I wrote when I was 23 got accepted into one of the top poetry journals in the country and I’m still dazed
A symbol, a performance, an image - these are great jump starts for activism but these things alone are not activism. We need to follow up with asks, legislation, lobbying, programming, donating, platforming, etc.
It’s been over a week since the ATLA live action has been out and as a massive ATLA fan it’s only fair I give my review of the good, the bad, AND the ugly - 🧵
Starting with the good: whichever casting director is responsible for Zuko needs a raise. The actor is phenomenal and Zuko is easily the best part about the entire show so far. He captures Zuko’s complexity so well and it’s a real pleasure to see him on screen
