we did it! the 2nd annual Last Days Of Summer In San Francisco event happened last weekend... and it was INCREDIBLE. almost 400 Roomies landed on the (not so foggy) streets of my adopted hometown for an insanely fun, curated 3 days of live music, hanging, food, screen printing, song bingo (!!), walking tours, service work... everyone has an opinion on this city... i’ve been here for 30+ years and think it is ABSOLUTELY MAGICAL. never dimmed. so to be able to show it off to rad humans i am connected to through music is a total joy. i wanted to take a minute and shout out the people and businesses who played a part in making LDOSISF// 2026 so rad. * * * * * * * * * mike and judy (@BabylonBurning_) for always welcoming us with open arms into their amazing, SF legacy print shop / art space. fond catering for their NEXT LEVEL spread for our friday night hang! bernal basket - my neighborhood spot (!!) - for their incredible handmade breakfast sandwiches, salads and pizza (POTATO😍!) irish greg (greg's san francisco Tours) for a weekend of Roomie-only walking tours in the haight. noe valley ministry & @irishcentersf ... both kick ass venues! paul thomas from bottom of the hill for making it all sound so good! @refuserefusesf for letting us join them on their friday morning clean up! dan vickery for joining me at the shows james j.a. houle for documenting it all. amber, yvonne, jane, rachel & caroline for making sure everything ran smoothly & beautifully. josh terry for making the whole weekend a reality. @ninaereid for being the superstar of the entire thing. dotting the Is & crossing the Ts and helping me dream it all up. (and for taking these great 📸) and finally... thank you to the Roomies... those who were able to take the time and spend the energy (and the not so light financial lift) to come here and let me show you some of my favorite places in my favorite place... and to the ones who couldn’t make it, you were with us in spirit. it really is all about you, and i treasure our community... ok. that’s all. see you soon in the Room! matt

i’m gonna let you all in on a secret about me… i irish goodbye every tour. on the last day, as i’m bumping into people packing up, i tell them i’ll find them before i leave and never do… i’m not wild about endings. i’d rather just skip ‘em and see people again when (or if) i do… and pick up again like nothing’s different. i texted my band this morning to tell them how amazing i thought they were. and how everything on stage felt effortless. and how fortunate i felt to have them by my side. a very successful chemistry experiment. aaron tap, @adampopick, christopher allis for the win. same with my crew: paul edwin, otto, los garpa & josh phiffer and of course, @ninaereid and sweet tony kurz i texted with monahan after the last show…i’ve been sharing stages with him for almost 30 years and he’s ALWAYS shown up for me. ALWAYS made room. he’s the rarest of people. a combination of ferociously hard working AND inclusive. and no bullshit. one of one. his friendship is a gift. and this incarnation of @train (and their crew & rock monahan ) is the best yet. just an incredible, top notch bunch of humans…who fucking KILLED IT EVERY NIGHT. better than the records! and it was such a pleasure to get to know @barenakedladies. my favorite conversations on this run were with those guys. hilarious, thoughtful and kind. go canada! and then there’s all of you, who came out… to the shows, to the pre-games, to the signings after my set… and spent your hard earned time (and money) on this music. i’ve busted my ass my whole career… but i’m also aware of how insanely lucky i am: to still be doing this 13(??) records in, to still have passionate people who come to see me, to have new stages to play on and new people to convert… i’ll never get to do what i did this summer again. not with this group of humans. time moves ever forward. and that makes the good feelings even more acute. it was a magical way to spend the summer. and i appreciate you all to the moon and back. onward we go❤️ 📸 tony kurz
