When measuring open source security, counting vulnerabilities only tells part of the story. Real risk depends on context, attack paths, and how fast reusable fixes can travel through the software ecosystem. Check out the new Open Source Security Signals: red.ht/4s7mAIK

Open source scales software innovation because research, fixes, and security improvements can be shared and reused across the entire ecosystem. Our inaugural Open Source Security Signals report shows how one reusable fix can prevent millions of hours of duplicated remediation work across the open hybrid cloud.
Counting vulnerabilities isn't enough. A single reusable open source fix can save up to 5.7 million engineering hours—representing $712.5 million in duplicated effort across the industry. Read the new Open Source Security Signals report: red.ht/4jWXN80.

We need “trust but verify for AI, and more often than not, “don’t trust and oversee.” Without that, I’m hard-pressed to see how enterprises will trust AI agents to take action across their systems. The good news is that it’s hard for an agent to scheme when we can see what it’s doing and independently enforce the boundaries around what it’s allowed to do. We're really excited about working with @nvidia on this to use the transparency of AI thinking to oversee what it's doing and keep the scheming to a minimum: red.ht/47nrt6I.
Today, with over 100 industry partners, we introduced the NVIDIA Open Agent Safety Platform, bringing together OpenShell and Sentry. Artificial intelligence is extraordinary technology that will advance discovery, productivity, security, health, and prosperity for generations to come. But its full promise can only be realized when people have confidence that AI is being built to be safe and deployed with wisdom and responsibility. This is bigger than a single product. It's the beginning of an open ecosystem to build the trust layer for safe agent systems. Together, we are building the foundation of the AI economy. Trust and innovation are not in conflict. Safety is how trust is earned. We must build not only the most capable AI, but the most trusted AI, so that this extraordinary technology can realize its enormous promise for the world. nvda.ws/4hcoq7m

Very excited to see @huggingface joining @nvidia. The power of open weight models has become undeniable, and this acquisition ensures the future of this ecosystem. For me, this evokes the same feeling I had witnessing the rise of Linux and open source. Exciting times ahead!
Exciting day for NVIDIA and @huggingface. Open models strengthen safety and cybersecurity, accelerate innovation and diffusion, and enable sovereignty. They allow every developer, startup, university, industry and country to build with, customize and benefit from AI. Thank you @ClementDelangue for coming to me. NVIDIA is going to be a great home for Hugging Face, its community and the future of open models. 🤗 blogs.nvidia.com/blog/nvidia…

That’s what we’re addressing with Lightwell. We’re using AI to accelerate vulnerability remediation using a proven approach: backporting fixes directly to the software organizations run—no disruptive upgrades required.

Decades ago, critics questioned whether open source could meet enterprise security standards. Time and real-world adoption have since proven open source software as the powerhouse behind robust, resilient IT. We are seeing a similar evolution with AI today. Open-weight models offer vital flexibility, transparency, and defensive capabilities, making them an essential part of a secure AI ecosystem that is collaborative, transparent, and open. @RedHat is proud to sign this letter in support of open weights alongside @Microsoft and leaders across the industry. microsoft.com/en-us/corporat…

At @RedHat, we shifted from proprietary commercial models to small, open-weight models running on vLLM, and it allowed us to successfully scale our internal deep research agent system. Today, open source models handle 85% of our system calls on infrastructure we control! Hear more about our internal journey in my #RHSummit keynote: red.ht/4piWVLT.
