#Alzheimers #Dementia #Fitness 🏋️‍♂️💟 Practice makes progress! Week 4 of Resiliency in Motion (RIM) 🌟 💜 Our RIM program is specially designed for caregivers and their loved ones living with dementia to stay active, build trust, and move together. 💪🏾 This week, our rockstar participants tackled new adaptive partner movement drills, including guided backward walking and lateral side-steps to high-fives.✋🏽✨ 🧠 Did you know? Walking backward doesn't just strengthen knees and improve dynamic balance—it actively challenges the brain, boosting focus and dynamic coordination. 📣 Special thanks to Mystic Valley Aging Services ( @mystic_elder ), the I’m Still Here Foundation ( @Hopefuldementia ), and the Wakefield Council on Aging. 🗓️ Next 6-Week Session Starts November 5! To enroll or learn more about this free adaptive fitness class, contact Paula Buccilli at Mystic Valley Aging Services: 📞 781-388-2319 | ✉️ [email protected] 🎉 Please like, comment, or share this video to help us spread public awareness! Endurance athletes: Do you prefer a keto- or carb-based approach to nutrition? From the eleventh episode of our first season, internationally recognized sports dietitian @LouiseMaryBurke weighs in. “You have to choose,” Burke explains to @gibalam and @mackinprof . “Do you want to maximize your fat-burning capacity? Or do you want to be a carbohydrate burning machine?” For endurance events like the marathon, keto definitely has its pros. But as Burke explains, it has its drawbacks as well. Catch up with our episode on Keto vs. carbs at the link below, and stay tuned for season two coming soon.

TY @mackinprof @GrantTinsleyPhD @francisholway @Francesco_C90 for the illustration, education clarification on the differentiation of body composition terminology. Extremely important considerations for appropriate recommendations with individualization over generalizations.

TY @mackinprof for providing the science behind the recommendations for protein requirements. Under or overconsumption of protein is not the goal. Strength training is the primary driver if the goal is to build muscle and protein can assist with navigation to get you there.

1/ 1.6 g protein/kg/d (0.7 g/lb) still does it. The case for more rests on a measurement that's about half NOT muscle. New preprint. 10 points, the first at my own expense.

10/ Like eating more protein? Fill your boots. Stop telling people they NEED it. Intakes > 1.6 (no data) Think I'm wrong? Show me the muscle. Until better data is available: lifting bakes the cake, and protein adds a (very) thin layer of icing! doi.org/10.51224/SportRxiv.1…

P.S. Protein has jumped the shark... theconversation.com/2025-was… Protein does not bake the cake; exercise does. Protein is the (thin) layer of icing (or the sprinkles on the icing). Once the cake is properly iced, adding more icing does not turn it into something else. At some point, you are just decorating.
