Something seemingly everyone is missing - part of the revenue generated will go directly into acquiring $AAVE on the open market. Little preview of big things to come. V4 will solidify $AAVE at the center of the Aave ecosystem.
$BABY x $AAVE
Babylon just proposed to bring native #Bitcoin to Aave, the largest lending protocol in crypto.
The idea is simple: you lock your Bitcoin in a vault that stays on the Bitcoin blockchain and Aave lets you borrow stablecoins against it.
There is no bridge, no custodian and no wrapped version of your Bitcoin in between.
Rob from Digital AssetNews told us on Double Down how he lost his Bitcoin to Celsius, because the lender was holding it when things went wrong. This setup is built so the lender never holds it in the first place.
It is still a proposal and the Aave community has to vote on it before anything goes live.
Full transparency: I hold BABY and Babylon presents Double Down.

BABYLON ADVANCES BITCOIN COLLATERAL PLAN FOR @aave V4
The proposal would keep collateral on Bitcoin for stablecoin loans. Liquidators could receive $WBTC immediately rather than wait days for native bitcoin redemption.

Huge day for BTC
A new proposal to onboard native BTC as collateral on Aave V4 through @babylonlabs_io Trustless Bitcoin Vaults is live.
If approved, users can lock their native BTC on the Bitcoin chain, and borrow supported assets against it.
In conversation with Stani Kulechov, CEO of Aave Labs at TOKEN2049 Singapore.
Key takeaways:
- Digital assets are eating finance right now
- Aave is positioned in a spectacular spot for institutitional lending.
- We're not thinking big enough for onchain finance (yet)
Very optimistic about the future of Aave and onchain finance.
Be more bullish.

I am currently living off a EUR loan; I borrow EURC at 0.22% from Aave v4 on the Arc chain: pro.aave.com/explore/reserve…
That rate is lower than inflation. I am shorting the Euro, which keeps falling (and will continue to fall) against BTC.
I live (and earn—or rather, save) in line with my ideology: "never trust the state or state-issued money."
It has been working for me in the long run.
Naturally, I bypass MiCA regulations, as the entire process is anonymous and requires no KYC.
EU bureaucrats don't like this and want to regulate DeFi!
Of course, no one knows the exact details, since it involves DeFi.
My Claude agent analyzed the smart contracts on the Arc/Ethereum blockchain and the mechanism for minting new tokens, then wrote a DeFi bridge for me from scratch that runs locally on my computer. I have no idea what European bureaucrats will do about that.
In any case, I would argue that the EU is becoming the world's largest financial totalitarian regime.
It is doing everything in its power to prevent you from easily escaping (including pressuring non-EU banks not to open accounts for you).

Disappointed by the European Central Bank’s (ECB) and European Banking Authority’s (EBA) responses to the MiCA consultation.
They are not only advocating for a prohibition on paying yield on stablecoins, but also for restrictions on CASPs providing access to DeFi, including protocols offering yield on non-MiCA-authorized stablecoins, without providing a clear framework for how access to DeFi should work in practice.
They also suggest that CASPs offering access to DeFi should restrict it to certain groups of users through so-called “suitability tests,” alongside a potential certification regime for DeFi lending protocols.
It is unclear how these requirements would work in practice. If regulators determine which protocols are deemed suitable for European users, the result risks looking very different from the open DeFi that exists today.
Instead, we could end up with more walled gardens that undermine the liquidity and network effects of open financial networks, ultimately limiting Europeans’ ability to access new ways to grow and preserve wealth.
These proposals are presented as measures to “protect consumers.” But excessive restrictions can instead create more friction for innovation and slow the development of open, transparent, and auditable financial infrastructure that can benefit consumers.
The reality is that onchain finance, including stablecoins, DeFi, and tokenized securities, has the potential to reshape financial infrastructure by reducing friction, increasing transparency, and expanding access to financial opportunities.
European consumers and businesses stand to benefit significantly from this transformation, particularly if the companies building this infrastructure can continue to build and compete from within Europe.
Meanwhile, U.S. regulators, including the SEC and CFTC, have increasingly taken a more pragmatic approach toward enabling onchain financial innovation.
European regulators should put users and their interests at the center of the framework. Banks and other incumbents should be able to adapt their businesses to serve users in an increasingly onchain economy, rather than relying on artificial restrictions that risk increasing costs and reducing access for Europeans as the rest of the world moves onchain.
DeFi will win.
I think a lot of people (myself included) love rebranding themselves as a mom or dad because it really helps disguise a shit personality.

Young people of NY, there's a new third space organized by @0xDuckworth 🍎
under the mattress is still quantum resistant.
Today I call upon the blockchain industry to calmly begin planning for "bunker mode". My personal recommendation is to set in motion a controlled mass migration of assets to fresh addresses, i.e. addresses whose pubkeys remain hidden behind a hash.
Holders, starting with large and sophisticated ones, should consider moving the bulk of their funds to addresses that have never signed a transaction. And when they do sign one, they should also move remaining funds to a new address (possibly generated from the same seed phrase).
Don't rush. While I believe there is cause for action a rushed migration would do more harm than good. Don't panic either. Moving assets to protected addresses is a simple, preventative step which does not require new cryptography or new wallets.
IMO it is now reasonable to brace for the possibility that ECDSA breaks before qday, in the worst case in months not years. By "break" I mean fast private key recovery (e.g. in one week) on available hardware (e.g. a large GPU cluster).
Recent days have been humbling for human mathematical intuition. Long-held, unquestioned hypotheses have fallen. This includes the n log(n) bound for integer multiplication and the 3SUM conjecture. In hindsight, May's unexpected disproof of the Erdős unit distance conjecture was our warning shot.
Yesterday's OpenAI drop made it clear that mathematical superintelligence is upon us. They say there are weeks where decades happen. We are about to live through weeks where centuries of mathematical progress happen. Could our magic 64-byte ECDSA signatures be too good to be true? Was it just security through obscurity all this time?
Elliptic curves feel especially vulnerable to superintelligence. Curves carry rich structure, with room for fancy tricks like Schoof, Frobenius, pairings. (By contrast, hashes are designed to minimise algebraic structure.)
Separately, as Ewin Tang can attest, an efficient quantum algorithm sometimes foreshadows an efficient classical one. We should be open to the possibility of a classical counterpart to Shor that breaks elliptic curves and RSA at once.
Also noteworthy is the striking under-representation of cryptographic breakthroughs among the 722 mathematical results OpenAI published. I've witnessed first-hand the US government censoring academic quantum cryptanalysis results. Backroom interventionism is my base case.
I urge large, sophisticated actors to lead by example. Project11's "risq list" (bitcoin-risq-list.projecteleven[.]com) is a great tracker of exposed BTC pubkeys. Binance, Bitbank, Robinhood, Bitfinex, and Tether have an opportunity to harden their cold storage. Next month I'll address institutions in London in a live Q&A (forum.ethereuminstitutional[.]org/london-2026).
Again, please do not rush. Wallets holding under 50 BTC enjoy partial cover from "Satoshi's shield", i.e. his 20K exposed addresses that hold 50 BTC each. Load-bearing signers like oracles and L2 security councils should consider rotating ECDSA pubkeys with every signed message and/or multi-signing with a hash-based schemes like SPHINCS.
Exiting bunker mode safely will require post-AI cryptography. My inclination is to go all-in on hash-based cryptography and avoid structured mathematical assumptions entirely, whether from curves, lattices, or isogenies. A single battle-tested hash (e.g. from the SHA or BLAKE families) yields plausible post-AI security.
The Ethereum roadmap on strawmap[.]org fully embraces hash-based cryptography with end-to-end formal verification as a response to the quantum threat. Those timelines must now be revisited and accelerated in light of mathematical superintelligence. I'll be pushing for maximum defensive acceleration.
