When it's time, we'll rise against the sheer scale of exploitation and PrePaid Meters racketeering going on in Lagos with the Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission @lasercng watching like toothless dog. We may be filing a class Action lawsuit soon Cc @BidAClassAction
Saw this on one of my Whatsapp groups. EKEDC IN DESPERATION _____ I installed an 18kW solar power system at my property in Lekki Phase 1, relegating EKEDC supply to a backup status. Since then, I have been having more frequent visits from personnel of Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC), coming to check my prepaid meter. On one of those visits, the EKEDC team stood watching the meter for motion to indicate consumption. When the meter wasn't moving, they called me to say they suspected I had bypassed the meter. I told them I had enough solar power for my daytime needs and only used their supply as a backup for the dark hours. To prove this to them, I switched on my inverter bypass for about 2 minutes so my consumption would be from EKEDC. They saw the meter rotating normally. They were visibly upset and one of them mumbled something like "This ọ̀gá no wan gree us chop". They left. Today (19-Oct-2026), three of them came to my premises with a notice of disconnection. The last time I loaded an EKEDC token was in July 2026 and I still had ample units left. When I asked why they would disconnect me, they said the reason was "LOR" (Loss of Revenue). They said my slow consumption indicates a faulty meter and I had to pay them ₦112,606 for loss of revenue. I told them my meter was not faulty and that they could test it if they wanted. The lady said they were losing revenue and they had to make up for it. I didn't know whether to laugh or to be angry. I have no intention of paying EKEDC a dime for its loss of revenue due to my taking steps to protect my interest. But, I share this story for all who are investing in solar power to know that the DisCos are now desperate. They now have "Loss of Revenue" as a reason for your disconnection from their supply. It is simply that they are not making enough money from you. I am waiting for EKEDC to disconnect me from their grid before I lodge a formal complaint to the regulatory authority. We are in interesting times in Nigeria! Raphael Awoseyin 19-Oct-2026

BREAKING: We've filed a lawsuit against @inecnigeria over its failure to account for over ₦126.46 billion in public funds appropriated for electoral operations but allegedly diverted, lost, mismanaged or otherwise unaccounted for.   The funds were meant to buy ballot boxes, electoral devices and materials, sensitive materials and result sheets, vehicles and accreditation devices, and to pay for audit and consultancy services, digital archiving, and other goods and services required for the conduct and administration of elections.   According to the 2023 audited report of the Auditor-General of the Federation, published on 7 August 2026, the allegations variously covered periods between January and December 2022 and, in some cases, extended to 31 December 2023.   In the suit number FHC/ABJ/CS/2507/2026, filed last week at the Federal High Court in Abuja, we're seeking an order of mandamus to direct and compel INEC to promptly disclose detailed information on the expenditure, utilisation and disbursement of over ₦126.46 billion appropriated for electoral operations, including the procurement of election materials, equipment, and vehicles.   We're also seeking an order of mandamus to direct and compel INEC to disclose a full financial and documentary account of the over ₦126 billion appropriated for electoral operations, including amounts released and paid, payment beneficiaries, details of contractors and their beneficial owners.   Electoral resources are public resources. INEC must be able to account for every naira, demonstrate that it was lawfully spent and show that it served the purposes for which it was appropriated. These allegations are particularly disturbing given the constitutional importance of INEC and the fact that the expenditure concerns resources appropriated for the administration of Nigeria’s electoral system.   With the 2027 general elections approaching, transparency and accountability in the management of these funds are essential to safeguarding public confidence in the electoral process and ensuring that resources intended to support credible elections are properly utilised.   Read more: bit.ly/4ywwm8W
